What true crime has left you baffled?

I'm watching a show on sky crime called, "Who killed Garrett Phillips."

I'm baffled at how the police came to the conclusion that their main suspect did it. Apart from the fact, that he was on camera in his car at the school (he worked there) and the victim was also on camera 7 seconds later, nowhere near his car.

It is truly bizarre.

And Stephens brother is the serial killer Cary Stayner.

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/10/2019 20:03

I started to read the Wiki page about Junko today and had to stop almost immediately. That is the sort of thing that will haunt me and keep me awake at night. I’d rather not know. That poor girl 💔

FloraFoxton · 30/10/2019 20:29

@SerafinaPekkola well no. I don't think I can solve any crime and I won't read gory or ghoulish stuff as I don't want to be 'voyeuristic'

Lots of people have an interest in true crime and providing it stays within normal levels of interest, there's nothing wrong with that

Maybe you're on the wrong thread for you?

CactusAndCacti · 30/10/2019 20:32

No I don't think I can solve the crime I mentioned, but I hope beyond hope that for their families it is.

FoldenHoard · 30/10/2019 21:39

Can't decide which is more embarrasing, that name change fail or the fact they've clearly been absolutely glued to a thread with a subject they claim to not take an interest in...🤔😬

Jbforensic · 30/10/2019 21:43

@managedmis the real judge actually said that too! Shocking, really!

Bouledeneige · 30/10/2019 21:46

Another very odd one that perplexed me for some time was that of Barry and Honey Sherman - see attached.

Being from Sunderland, I'd like peace for poor Nikki Allen

Twigletgirl27 · 30/10/2019 21:59

I find the case if the man found on Saddleworth Moors about 4 years ago quite fascinating. He'd travelled from London and had called into a pub near the moors. He'd asked about walking up a nearby fell and was advised it was too late in the day as was nearly dark. He set off anyway, completely inadequately dressed. He was found dead the next day, from strychnine poisoning. He was later identified from a metal plate in his leg, he was living in Pakistan. No one knows why he was up that mountain.

crustycrab · 30/10/2019 22:06

@Twigletgirl27 I watched that documentary and couldn't see why people found it so mysterious. It clearly looked like he had decided to end his life and that was where he wanted to do it.

The place may have had some significance to him

FloraFoxton · 30/10/2019 22:20

@FoldenHoard I'm not sure if it's a name change fail as @BertrandRussell has never struck me as the type to do that Grin

BlackCatSleeping · 30/10/2019 22:40

Now we have our own mystery!!!

Is the very salty @SerafinaPekkola actually @BertrandRussell in disguise!?

Shock
Examssuck · 30/10/2019 23:00

Did they ever find Baby Lisa?

crustycrab · 30/10/2019 23:01

@BlackCatSleeping well it's not the first post they've been on together this week Wink

tobee · 30/10/2019 23:18

bananacakerox · 30/10/2019 23:19

Where is Madeline McCann?

Who killed David Kelly?

Cecilandsnail · 30/10/2019 23:27

Lots that have already been mentioned, and haven't finished the thread so may have come up, but I am desperate to know what happened to the Dyatlov pass people. May not have been a crime. But bloody hell it's the one case that has me climbing the walls! (And Maddie).

FloraFoxton · 30/10/2019 23:31

A ha ha ha

@BertrandRussell stop it!! You know it's not cricket eh?

Ok sleuthers - lets get our teeth into this one

BlackCatSleeping · 30/10/2019 23:34

“It feels wrong to be interested, I wonder why as humans we have such a desire to read about such desperately sad situations. ”
Many of us don’t

You always turn up on crime threads and huff and sneer at 'arm chair detectives.' Just hide the threads if they don't interest you Bertrand

I finished the Who Killed Garret Phillips doc this evening. I don't know what to think tbh.

Scythrop · 31/10/2019 03:01

Oh nooo, I've reached the end of the thread. This has been fascinating. It's so sad that so many are still unsolved.
@Superleo837 There is an excellent book about the James Bulger killing called The Sleep of Reason. Very hard to read the transcripts, but worthwhile if you want to know what happened without tabloid spin.

SheruMoo · 31/10/2019 03:18

Oh dear @BertrandRussell..... that was a most unfortunate name change fail...Shock

Superleo837 · 31/10/2019 05:23

Ooh thanks @Scythrop

JulietakaIris · 31/10/2019 05:54

Agog at the mini name changing mystery right here on the thread Shock Grin
