What true crime has left you baffled?

I'm watching a show on sky crime called, "Who killed Garrett Phillips."

I'm baffled at how the police came to the conclusion that their main suspect did it. Apart from the fact, that he was on camera in his car at the school (he worked there) and the victim was also on camera 7 seconds later, nowhere near his car.

It is truly bizarre.

And what if the missing person wants to stay missing?

Junko Furato (be aware when reading up!)

^What happened to her is probably
the most horrific I have ever heard.

WheresTheEvidence · 30/10/2019 11:31

Misspiggy I read it on here and someone said be aware its horrific and I didnt think it could be so bad but that poor girl.

itsgettingweird · 30/10/2019 11:41

I've just read it. Absolutely horrifying AngrySad

homeworkery · 30/10/2019 11:59

@MissDew She was his foster daughter. Not his step daughter

Potnoodledoo · 30/10/2019 12:05

@SerafinaPekkola if adults go missing and the police find them, they can just say they want no contact.

Happened in America a few years ago.A young girl went missing, they found her a few years later.Alive and well. Now an adult, she told them she didnt want contact with her family. The police respected her wishes.

managedmis · 30/10/2019 12:08

What gets me about Ted Bundy is that he escaped from the police twice!! He escaped form a cell and also leapt out of a window!

In the Netflix documentary the judge as the end of sentencing him says he's a nice young man?!

FloraFoxton · 30/10/2019 12:08

I've read a few bits and pieces that cast doubt on the Junko case. Like it's an urban myth ..

I'm just putting that out there and I don't know. I don't read that case as i can't bear to know any more details than I initially read some time ago. I've got an interest in crime but I draw the line at ghoulish and truly upsetting stuff

Hollyhobbi · 30/10/2019 12:10

That poor girl Junko. I can't believe I'm writing this but it is better that she diedFlowers. The two boys who murdered and assaulted Ana Kriegel in Ireland are due to be sentenced next week.

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/10/2019 12:21

I wanted to post about the Johnny Gosch case as it has been mentioned up thread. I fell into a black internet hole a few years ago on this subject. He disappeared into thin air while on a paper round. His mother Noreen believed she uncovered a massive child trafficking/paedophile ring involving politicians and police. There were other missing children involved. Noreen maintained that her son turned up at her front door as an adult and told her he was in danger and disappeared again. She posted pictures on her website of tied up young boys, one of which she maintained was Johnny, but in all honesty looked nothing like him. There was speculation that he was hiding in plain sight as an adult with a new identity and the person involved denied it was he. It was truly peculiar. My own view is that Noreen was utterly desperate, understandably, but that her mental health was compromised. She also wrote a book about why her son couldn’t come home. There has never been a resolution and I believe it’s just a cold case now. So very very sad. That poor woman and poor little lad.

The two boys who murdered and assaulted Ana Kriegel in Ireland are due to be sentenced next week.

Awfully sad case.Wonder what they will be sentenced too.

Tana433 · 30/10/2019 12:25

The Timothy Pitzen case gets me. Mum takes her son out of school and then treats him to a couple of "fun" days away. Then she is found having committed suicide in her hotel room but Timothy is nowhere to be found. She left a note saying he is being looked after by someone who loves him but will never be found. Did mum kill him too or give him to another family to look after. His poor dad has no idea and just this year someone came forward claiming to be Timothy but Dna quickly ruled this out.

Hollyhobbi · 30/10/2019 12:55

@Potnoodledoo my daughter was also 14 at the time Ana was murdered. I read her mothers Victim Impact Statement yesterday and started crying. It's just too awful. Everyone is afraid they'll be back out on the streets in a few years time as well.

Buggersticks · 30/10/2019 12:55

When self built submarine nutter Peter Madsen killed journalist Kim Wall a couple of years ago. I followed it all with enormous interest because she was found in pieces and his excuses were ludicrous, like listening to a child trying to persuade a parent that they didn't eat all the chocolate whilst holding the wrappers in one hand and a brown chocolatey mouth. Utterly insane.

WombleishofTheThighs · 30/10/2019 12:57

There is still loads of wild country and water even in the U.K. it’s more of a surprise that bodies are ever found, rather than they aren’t.

Yes, look at poor little Keith Bennett, who has never been found over 50 years later Sad

Lhastingsmua · 30/10/2019 13:06

This thread can certainly lead you down a dark rabbit hole.

One thing that is really sad about all of these is how the victims never get the slightest bit of justice, even when their killers are caught and convicted eg Sylvia Likens.

ItsWitchingTime · 30/10/2019 13:35

Keith Bennett will forever stay with me, whilst his killers were caught and punished it's the fact that he's still out there and his poor mother never got closure before he died.

Making a murderer, simply because the investigation is such a farce and the poor parents don't have all the answers plus it's getting constantly played out so they can't even grieve in peace.

Actually there's quite a few that I can't put names to, I don't actively search them to read but when a thread like this pops up and leads you down the rabbit hall. A video popped up on Facebook once, I think it was titled the top ten unsolved cases and there was a young lad wrapped in a gym mat, that gives me chills.

MulticolourMophead · 30/10/2019 14:42

We've had human remains found in a nearby town recently, and from police statements, it's likely that they are old, perhaps 50 plus years old.

So, I'm wondering who it was, and hoping there's a family who will get some closure now.

hallohallohallo · 30/10/2019 19:24

Junko Furato

Shock OMG!! WTF did I just read?? That has got to be one of the most truly horrific things I've ever heard of. That poor girl. I can't believe 100+ people knew about the situation and said nothing? All of the people responsible are out of prison now? They should have never been allowed out. I don't think I'll ever forget this poor girl. RIP Junko.

SerafinaPekkola · 30/10/2019 19:28

Are you all reading whatever this horrific think is because you think you might be able to slice the crime?

BertrandRussell · 30/10/2019 19:28

*solve

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 30/10/2019 19:28

Jesus Christ. I’ve just read that too. How is it possible that someone is put on this earth to suffer like that? Those boys were pure evil. Poor bloody girl. She was so young.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 30/10/2019 19:30

I read about Junko on here a few years ago. The poor girl and her family , doesn't bare thinking about

What strikes me is when you Google it the evil bastard who did it have a big black line across their eyes. Like they deserve any sort of anonymity

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 30/10/2019 19:35

I remember the first film I watched about abduction was I know my first name is Steven when I was a teen

I think he was 7 when he was abducted and was held for 7 years. He escaped when the man who abducted him abducted another little boy , iirc he escaped with the little boy

He died in a motorbike accident at 24
