I have a 3 seat corner sofa and a 2 seat

So 5 people can comfortably sit here.

Just wondered what the average is as mine seems small.

Three, and two-seater sofas, an armchair, and a pouffe thing that can be brought out if need be. Just two adults and a cat here.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 27/10/2019 19:31

A large 3 seater which can seat 4 if everyone is very friendly

A large 2 seater which can seat 3 if everyone is very friendly

An armchair, and in theory 4 pouffes

So with a squash and a squeeze 11 people but comfortably 6

4 of us now ds1 lives with his boyfriend but when they are both here its 6

JoJoSM2 · 27/10/2019 19:31

Seats for 9 adults and 2 toddlers. It's a very large house by UK standards, though.

I think 5 sounds average.

AravisQueenOfArchenland · 27/10/2019 19:32

A three seater sofa, a two seater so five could sit comfortably, plus a foot stool, an automan, the four chairs from the dining table, so I technically seats for eleven, twelve if I borrowed my sons computer chair, from his room.

GetTheSprinkles · 27/10/2019 19:34

Currently existing on 2 camping chairs as we just moved in Wink
Waiting on delivery of a 3/4 seater sofa. Just me, hubby and the dog

jaffacakesareevil · 27/10/2019 19:38

7- 2 three seaters and an armchair. There's 5 of us in our house.

ohtheholidays · 27/10/2019 19:38

A 3 Seater Sofa,a 2 seater sofa,a tub chair and a large pouffe so we could seat 7 of us.

We are a family of 7 but 2DC have moved out now.

We have other chairs we can bring in if we need to.

We've had New Years,Bonfire Night and Halloween partys before and managed to get enough seats in to seat 20.

BackforGood · 27/10/2019 19:42

What is officially a 3 seater settee, that can actually seat 4, and then 3 armchairs, so 7, before I bring extra chairs in

EmmaGrundyForPM · 27/10/2019 19:44

We have a 3 seater sofa, a 2 seater sofa, an arm chair and a directors chair. We also have a 3 seater sofa and 2 tub chairs in the kitchen/diner and occasionally move the tub chairs in to the living room if we have lots of visitors.

georgialondon · 27/10/2019 19:45

9

BalloonWhisk · 27/10/2019 19:47

Two large sofas, a rocking chair and a large wooden armchair, plus sundry floor cushions.

EmmiJay · 27/10/2019 19:51

I have a 5 seater corner sofa (the big Freya) and a massive foot stool with the storage which can seat two bums.

ChanklyBore · 27/10/2019 19:51

Not ‘counting’ floor space. Just trying to give an idea of room size.

ie mine isn’t a large room but is largely given over to seating. My ILs have a tiny living room with 2x2 seater sofas squished into it. We regularly squash 12 people in there and the majority are on the floor like sardines.
My other ILs have a living room twice the size of mine but with one 2 seater and one 3 seater in it, plus a beanbag. We squash the same people in and again half are on the floor, but it’s a much roomier floor.

In mine, there is a lot of seating for the size of the room.

bloodywhitecat · 27/10/2019 19:53

A small two seater sofa and an IKEA rocking chair, we can seat 3 but we have a tiny living room, we struggle when we have family over.

DramaAlpaca · 27/10/2019 19:58

Ours has seating for seven - a large three seater sofa, a two seater sofa & two armchairs. It's usually just three of us at home these days plus two dogs, so we can all spread out.

TowerRingInferno · 27/10/2019 20:01

2 x 2 seater sofa
1 x 3 seater sofa

Crankybitch · 27/10/2019 20:01

2 4 seater sofas, 2 armchairs with footstools, large armchair with footstool, desk chair.

EskewedBeef · 27/10/2019 20:02

5 seat corner sofa and two armchairs, plus a couple of poufferettes that can be perched on.

MsAwesomeDragon · 27/10/2019 20:02

tooearly I can't speak for other people but I don't like people visiting because we don't have space and the house feels very crowded when there are extra people here. We do have people over occasionally, like my parents, but if we have 4 extra people in the living room there is no space to move, so it's uncomfortable. Dh is very unsociable anyway and would prefer never too see anyone. The dds and I like to see people but would prefer to see them somewhere other than our house, as there's more space elsewhere to be able to breathe a bit.

SagelyNodding · 27/10/2019 20:08

Open plan living space-4 bar stools, four hard chairs, a 3 seater sofa, an armchair and a pouffy thing. I'd love a big corner sofa to divide the room a bit.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/10/2019 20:08

In the living room, there's a 3 seater sofa that could easily take 4, a two seater that can take 2 adults and a child, and an arm chair. Planning a desk chair soon as well.

In the bar/dining room, there is 3 bar stools, an armchair and 8 dining chairs.

CakeNinja · 27/10/2019 20:09

Family of 5. We have 2 4 seater sofas and a 1.5 seater ‘cuddle chair’ (disgusting name but that’s what it was called!). Then a window seat which can seat 4 or 5/6 small adults.
We do have people around a lot, it’s a sociable house!

DownstairsMixUp · 27/10/2019 20:11

3 and armchair. But have a big kitchen so generally we socialise there. If we want more in the lounge the kids being their bean bags down.

ShirleyPhallus · 27/10/2019 20:13

Mumsnet is so weird, why so many people saying they never have people over?!

Also so lolz the poster who counts floor space as seating. I can seat about 100 people but that also includes guests sitting on the driveway

Ginfordinner · 27/10/2019 20:15

We never have people over

Why not Finchy19?

We have a 3 seater and a 2 seater settee. We also have two 2 seater settees in the conservatory so can seat 9 comfortable if we brought them into the living room.

I like to invite friends round for coffee or have distant friends over for the weekend.
