I'm tagging along to IKEA tomorrow - never been. What do I NEED to buy? Small budget, I'm just going along for the experience Grin

You need a Socktopus!

If you have kids, the roll of plain paper for drawing on is really good.

Kraggle · 12/10/2019 20:12

This! Or ten of them. They smell gorgeous and are my favourite candle at the minute.

Tea towels
A large cuddly toy dog
Jammy Dodger type biscuits
Drawer organisers
Vanilla candles
Little cactuses
Plastic tubs 3 for £1
Hotdog on the way out

(My recent visit)

Ludos · 12/10/2019 20:13

What's a socktopus?!

I do love a scented candle - is it a natural smell though?

If you store clothes etc get the PARKLA storage bags. They are ideal for out of season clothes, too big/small kids clothes, blankets etc. Not too big but fit loads in.

beckyvardy · 12/10/2019 20:14

I've just bought a shelf for over my bed.
Decorated with Ikea frames and candles will post a pic in a min.

cookielove · 12/10/2019 20:14

Their scissors (set of 3, 2 small, 1 big) are amazing! They cut through anything!!

Their freezer bags are ace! I use the smaller sets for putting ds meals in! And the big ones are handy for separating lego, and storing clothes in his spare clothes bag.

Their suction cup brush for plates also pretty good.

They also do suction cup hooks! Amazing!!

Ludos · 12/10/2019 20:14

Books - that reminded me of the generation game 😁

IKEA on a Sunday - take paracetamol

Chocolateteabag · 12/10/2019 20:18

Sign up for the Ikea card as soon as you get there and print out a temp card
You can't get free tea or coffee at the weekend but you'll get discounts on some bits

Get a cinnamon roll!

And then go back for meatballs

And daim bars on your way out

Tojigornot · 12/10/2019 20:18

I popped into my local one last Sunday. It’s an experience I don’t want to repeat Grin. Never go on a Sunday! The hot dog queue was at least half an hour long.

Hard to advise on what to buy, they sell a lot of stuff. What sort of things do you need?

Paperdolly · 12/10/2019 20:22

T-lights! Don’t forget those massive bags of T-lights.
Meatballs n chips, with that lovely gravy and Diam cake for afters.

'IKEA on a Sunday - take paracetamol'

I'm child free with friends - I'll gladly take crowds and queues Smile

You need a Raskog trolly, t-lights (used to be £1.75 for 100, I'm not sure if they still are) veggie balls, dill sauce.

I really want to go, I haven't been for ages.

rubberduckyyouretheone · 12/10/2019 20:34

Daim Bar Cake and T Lights

Xiaoxiong · 12/10/2019 20:35

No matter what I go in for, I always leave with
Lighting
Lightbulbs
Freezer bags
Coffee beans
Candles
Plants
Baskets
Picture frames

coffeetofunction · 12/10/2019 20:35

The really cheap and nasty flannels are great as cleaning clothes.

Everyone needs the tacky plastic plates/bowls/cups/cutlery

The glasses are great

The large wooden copping boards are great, think there called pizza boards, about £9 but brilliant

Cheap bog brush

Hot dog, meat balls and an IKEA breakfast

Check out the free wood outside too and the reduce section....

Have fun, I love IKEA

GreyGardens88 · 12/10/2019 20:38

Cactus

RoLaren · 12/10/2019 20:44

Definitely a big bag of Daim bars Smile

theoriginalmadambee · 12/10/2019 20:46

Koncis garlic press, best there is.
Drinking glasses, so cheap (as are wine glasses)
Gift wrapping
Pillows
Bed linen

Check the catalog before going Smile.

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 12/10/2019 20:47

Bags and bags of diam bars, and a cheese grater

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 12/10/2019 20:48

Gonna come across as a grump here but I don’t understand going to Ikea without a specific considerable purchase in mind 🤷🏻‍♀️
