I'm tagging along to IKEA tomorrow - never been. What do I NEED to buy? Small budget, I'm just going along for the experience Grin

Ingabritta coral chunky knit blanket
Angsvide or Kungsmynta pillow protector
Tankvard throw
If they are still doing them this year.. gingerbread houses
Fat robin tree decorations

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/10/2019 00:51

Strala and Vissvass LED lighting chains from the Christmas department

dontgobaconmyheart · 13/10/2019 01:15

Nothing, it's not that cheap anymore and so much of the stuff is needless plastic rubbish that you don't even need. Sorry to be grinching! Love a meatball in gravy though OP, get yourself to the cafe. The best bit is wandering around the fake room displays wondering why your own house never looks as good.

Ludos · 13/10/2019 08:44

Thanks everyone. I'm up and ready to go already - we aren't leaving for another hour Blush I will be referring to this thread as I make my way round Grin

Meatballs, mash, lingonberry sauce. To die for.

Ignore the joyless ones, and enjoy!
I'm actually a little jealous of your trip Grin

Dieu · 13/10/2019 09:32

Actually, a question for you all. My teenager was there with her father the other day, and I asked her to pick up some light bulbs. She said the size was wrong, and that they only fit IKEA lights/lamps.
This surely can't be right?! Confused

feelinghelplesstoday · 13/10/2019 11:31

@Dieu no they do fit other lamps. You just need to know what size or screw in or bayonet x

Dieu · 13/10/2019 11:47

Thanks @feelinghelplesstoday.
I think she was a bit befuddled by all the different ones, daft thing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2019 13:18

We, DD and I, usually go to get ideas from all the little flats they create.
And then go home an rearange our Kalax'es and IVAR's. I have just created a room within our bedroom with some sets of IVAR shelves, and an old table. It's practically like my own little den now.

And the meatballs - of course.
I resited the big cuddly bear and the tiny cat.

MotherofTerriers · 13/10/2019 13:27

Princess cakes. A trolley full

Babyroobs · 13/10/2019 13:55

I went last week and bought a serviette holder and serviettes and meatballs.

KatharinaRosalie · 13/10/2019 16:48

Dieu no not true. They probably just 'couldn't find them'. A common problem with husbands teenagers. Grin

Check out the TALRIKA series - renewable starch based plastic plates and cups that look absolutely lovely. And I have several of the LINDKNUD rugs - so soft, made out of recycled plastic bottles, and machine washable.

DisappointingBanana · 13/10/2019 16:59

Get a few of the big blue bags, cheap and useful. I use them for grass cuttings and garden waste as well as humping laundry about.
And, not so cheap but my DDs love their transformable "Death Star" light shades.

@Dieu I think you need these. Put them in your bayonet fitting then screw the Ikea bulb into it.

KatharinaRosalie · 13/10/2019 17:54

Did you know the blue bag also comes in rainbow limited edition?

@Ludos
Hope you had a lovely day, did you buy anything? Smile

TheFairyCaravan · 13/10/2019 18:01

We went yesterday and bought a new mattress. I had the best night's sleep, for years, last night.

I couldn't get near the Christmas stuff because it was mad in there.

Myshitisreal · 13/10/2019 18:12

Food clips. I'm listing after a socktopus but ikea is my idea of hell tbh. Hope your day cheered you up op xx

Ludos · 13/10/2019 19:03

That was fun - even though the queue for the car park was an hour long!!

I bought:
A tin of gingerbread thins
A washing up brush
Napkins
Freezer bags
Coat hangers
Cushion
New girly duvet cover Grin
Pack of three scissors
Lampshade
Shark soft toy.

I wanted to move in!

feelinghelplesstoday · 13/10/2019 19:18

@Ludos did you get the washing up brush with the sucker on the end?
Welcome to Ikea 😂

IcedPurple · 13/10/2019 19:18

How did you get out of there without any candles?

I can never pass the check-out without picking up armfuls of them. They're all so yummy I can never decide which I'd prefer..... so I end up getting them all!

Ludos · 13/10/2019 19:20

I did @feelinghelplesstoday !

@IcedPurple - I was too overwhelmed when we got to the candles, next time!
