Would you get your haircut by an ex convict?

Would you get your haircut by an ex convict? You don't get to know what they were convicted of, only that they spent time in prison and are fully trained and have been rehabilitated into society.

So long as their name isn't Sweeney Todd then yes.

Dhalandchips · 09/10/2019 18:59

If they're adequately trained, I don't see why not.

Ilovetolurk · 09/10/2019 19:00

Are you worried about ending up with a grade one?

CheerfulMuddler · 09/10/2019 19:00

Sure.

BrassTactical · 09/10/2019 19:00

Privately in my home? No.

In a shop, yes why not? I would find it unusual to even know their history?

Cockw0mble · 09/10/2019 19:00

Yes...?

jelly79 · 09/10/2019 19:01

Yes. I'd trust in whatever process or support they had been through

Lwmommy · 09/10/2019 19:01

How would I even know they were an ex convict? I don't usually ask for DBS checks on my hairdressers.

Soola · 09/10/2019 19:01

No

lljkk · 09/10/2019 19:01

1/3 of men & 1/4 of women have a criminal record. It's probably already happened to me.

RunsForGummyBears · 09/10/2019 19:02

Why not? I've probably been served by ex-offenders and been none the wiser.

Chloe9 · 09/10/2019 19:02

Like if it was a company who were public about employing ex offenders and run a hairdressing business

OP posts:
RolytheRhino · 09/10/2019 19:02

Not if they have been convicted of any violent offences. If you can guarantee that, then yes. Otherwise, I'll pass.

Dangerfloof · 09/10/2019 19:03

In a salon yes, in my home no.

TwattingDog · 09/10/2019 19:03

Unless they were Sweeney Todd in a previous life, it wouldn't bother me. I'm much more interested in their competence as a hairdresser.

Chloe9 · 09/10/2019 19:03

Oh I am quite sure most of us have all had at least one haircut by somebody with a criminal record and NOT known about it, but would it change your opinion if you did know?

OP posts:
BNSY · 09/10/2019 19:04

nope

BNSY · 09/10/2019 19:04

I mean unless it's a terrible haircut...

CampingItUp · 09/10/2019 19:04

Grin at PralineCookie

For all I know I do get my hair cut by an ex convict.

But as a PP said not in my own home.

Iliketeaagain · 09/10/2019 19:04

In a shop, yes.
In my home, I'd probably be a bit more wary.

To be fair, I get my keys cut at Timpson and they are well known for supporting people to get back in to work.

I'm also sure there are many people who we interact with every day in routine environments who have a criminal record.

Slomi · 09/10/2019 19:05

My DP gets his hair cut by a guy who was sentenced years ago for assault. He owns the place and seems to have completely turned his life around. Can't see why it would be an issue if they are rehabilitated.

WickedLemon · 09/10/2019 19:07

I’d need to know the crime. If all you could tell me was they’re an ex convict, then I’m going elsewhere for my haircut.

I don’t want my hair cut by rapists, paedophiles, or violent offenders.

Carrie7899 · 09/10/2019 19:07

Yes. I can't see an issue with it. People need a second chance

bbciiu · 09/10/2019 19:08

Of course. Rehabilitated and full qualified/trained hairdresser. Why not?!

Chloe9 · 09/10/2019 19:08

@Iliketeaagain

Timpsons have opened some barbershops which is what made me think of it. I get my keys cut in there and stuff and don't really think about it, but wondered if I'd feel differently if they had scissors near my head! I'd be ok with it, with almost any crime, because I believe in rehabilitation, but I wasn't sure if I was going against the grain feeling that way or not
