About bloody time I say!

OP posts:

The Mail is referring to the issue over the Range Rovers as a “car crash”. Which, in the circumstances is spectacularly awful- even for them.

Joe2019 · 01/10/2019 23:10

Of course it'll be settled before trial. Even that rag isn't run by total idiots.

BertrandRussell · 01/10/2019 23:10

Sorry- I see that point has been made.

Incidentally, it’s his statement, but she is bringing the court case.

I dont really pay attention to this, I know Vegas lad got married to the American, thought it was pretty epic considering there was an abdication about Wallace lady (imagine if that wasn't an issue, we'd have other royals! Crazy)
But one thing does unsettle me, how bad of a pr team this couple had. Really bad. I say had because they seem to be doing a good job with where they have gone now (Africa?)

I take everything with a pinch of salt but I personally don't like being told there is no future for my kids and their kids due to climate change by a barefoot dude who flew private jet...same as the whole rich lot who went over there. The newspapers should have made them all a fucking joke not just Vegas dude.
I don't like celebrities saying they paid for private jets and claiming they paid off the emission crap. Right. So you give some money, basically some numbers in a bank, and that makes the emissions disappear? No. So if I drop a plate and throw some cash at it, is the plate no longer broken? It's a broken plate with cash laying on top.

That backlash I understood. All it takes is they stop climate change preaching. Just quit that and fly private, no one cares then.

Majority of the other gossip stuff idk about, I find cutting anyone out your life will make people mad, just unlucky she's now famous for marrying Vegas dude. She'd have got that anger from family if she married Vegas guy or not, just her family had an audience so they went newspaper. People love whinging when others are willing to listen.

I feel that rf is very similar to let's say a police officers job. They're meant to behave well even during their off time. They can't give tickets for speeding, and speed themselves. I think it's their "job" to preach about charities and climate change etc I think it's amazing, but they can't be hypocritical.

But it seems they have a good pr team now, finally. And good luck to them, it's not nice being scrutinised all the time.

I hope they don't get more hate for trying to argue with a newspaper. I thought they were doing so well with their ACTIONS on this tour they are doing, flying commercial, showing off baby, getting involved. This letter, sigh, just may make haters hate more. It could all die down if they continue a good tour and listen to pr team.

BertrandRussell · 01/10/2019 23:14

“I dont really pay attention to this”
No, course you don’t. That’s why you can write a 6 paragraph post about it! Grin

Ah I see Rubbinghimsourly (hilarious name by the way!) well if it is the case that they are trying to be more positive in order to ameliorate any litigation then it may suggest they are culpable especially if they have deliberately edited details in the letter, more fool them.

The positive coverage of the past week from these same publications exposes the double standards of this specific press pack that has vilified her almost daily for the past nine months; they have been able to create lie after lie at her expense simply because she has not been visible while on maternity leave

Hmm. But that is absolutely how the British press work. I am confused that he does not know this. Neither are the press in this country EVER objective. My arse are they objective. It's left and right with the Indie et al, pretending to be neutral. It's something people say is true when it blatantly isn't.

In fact H and his family more than anyone owes the right wing press for keeping up a social tone in this country that pretty much guarantees the longevity of the Royal Family and his life of unearned privilege. It's not like the Guardian (outwardly) are supportive of the current class system is it? Which one does he want to be in bed with? Those calling for a system based on merit and equity or those supporting the proper place of people in their god ordained places? He needs to make up his mind sharpish.

Have any Royals taken the British press to book before? It strikes me as biting the hand that indirectly feeds you which may be justified as long as you are aware that they feed you which, by his statement it seems he may not entirely.

I'm not sure that this 'visible after maternity leave ' has anything to do with anything either.

The way out of it has always been available step down and be normal citizens or become boring like C&C, E&S and W&K. They have plenty of examples to choose and learn from.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 01/10/2019 23:18

I imagine this has quite usefully turned the public eye away from "Uncle Andy" too 🤨

Wellmet · 01/10/2019 23:18

@alexal that really is the twattiest post I have ever read on here. I'm honestly cringing for you.

JemimaTab · 01/10/2019 23:18

I guess she would need to bring the legal action, as it pertains to her privacy rather than Harry’s.

I do feel for them. The press have been ridiculous. I remember for example when Meghan served one of her visitors avocado on toast, the DM even did an article on why this meant she was fuelling human rights abuses (as opposed to anyone else who eats avocados).

The letter is full of pain and anger.

BertrandRussell · 01/10/2019 23:22

The three most unanswered questions of the moment 1) Why would anyone sleep with Boris Johnson 2)What concrete ways will Brexit make our lives better and 3)What has Meghan actually done wrong?

Encyclo · 01/10/2019 23:22

“I dont really pay attention to this”
No, course you don’t. That’s why you can write a 6 paragraph post about it!

Right? I'm absolutely scarlet for
the writer of that post😳😳

BertrandRussell · 01/10/2019 23:24

“I guess she would need to bring the legal action, as it pertains to her privacy rather than Harry’s.”
Yes- I just didn’t like that her agency seemed to be being taken away. It’s presumably her decision to take the case to court.

Geronimo8 · 01/10/2019 23:26

Good for him. Publishing that letter at all was vile but to have edited it to make her look worse? That's unbelievable and illegal. He should stand up for his wife. I hope they move abroad.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 01/10/2019 23:27

Bertrand Grin

I suspect you really DON'T want the answer to the first one.

WonderWomansSpin · 01/10/2019 23:29

The only reasoning that makes sense, is to deflect from Andrew.

The recent press coverage of H&M has been positive. And the problem with the letter is that they don't know who edited it. Perhaps the newspaper will say they thought they received the original wording and throw the editing claim back on to M's father. Although this could be H&M trying to finally shut down that relationship too. There have been murmurs about whether they'd let their child meet his grandfather. Launching a court action on the basis of a letter that directly involves him, might be deliberate.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/10/2019 23:32

Incidentally, it’s his statement, but she is bringing the court case

Is she now? I hadn't realised that, but guess it makes sense since it was her letter, written to her father

Alexel · 01/10/2019 23:32

I only know they got married because I was following the Google climate change Blush
I admit I haven't read much else so I probably sound dumb as I don't know much about them apart from what the BBC have shown like how baby met archbishop which I thought was good pr because everyone loves a baby. I know she gets hate because your comments here are saying she gets hate. I thought it was because of the climate change they got hate which I put down to extremists.
I dont follow monarchy stuff, he's the ginger Prince who got naked in Vegas, Harry as I just saw OP title Grin I find climate issues, eating well, the fact our recycling ends up in poorer countries or the sea is a bit more interesting than some people's marriage, if their tour continues well I think it's nice Flowers

taytosandwich · 01/10/2019 23:33

@Alexel say Vegas dude more

heath48 · 01/10/2019 23:34

This idea will have come from Meghan Markle herself, not Prince Harry.Poor man,he really is Dim.

This will not do their popularity which is at an all time low any good at all.

Big mistake.

HeddaGarbled · 01/10/2019 23:34

It’s odd timing: the political/Brexit situation is volatile; they’re in the middle of a tour.

EmmiJay · 01/10/2019 23:35

I cannot wait to see what Piers SlobAssed Morgan has to say on GMB tomorrow morning.

LemonPrism · 01/10/2019 23:45

@Usethegoodbudder I mean it's directly against the Editors Code of Practice.

'Everyone is entitled to privacy in their home, family, health and private correspondence' - they'll almost certainly be fined by IPSO at the least.

Soola · 01/10/2019 23:47

History of the royal family suing the media

In 1990 Viscount Linley sued the Today newspaper (now defunct) for libel after it accused him of rowdy behaviour in a pub. He won £30,000 damages.

The Queen has twice sued the Sun for breach of copyright.

The first time was in 1988.

The Sun reached an out-of-court settlement after publishing a stolen photograph showing Sarah, Duchess of York and her daughter, Princess Beatrice, which the royal family had planned to use on their Christmas card that year.

The second time was in 1993. The Sun paid £200,000 to charity in an out-of-court settlement after publishing a leaked text of the Queen's Christmas broadcast.

Also in 1993 Princess Diana started legal action against the Daily Mirror when it published photographs taken with a hidden camera of her exercising in a gym.

The paper apologised and reportedly paid Diana's legal costs of £1m plus a further £200,000 to charity.

But the gym owner refused to settle, caving in only in February 1995, a week before the case was due to start.

He apologised and gave up the £300,000 he had made from selling the pictures.

In 2012 Prince William and Kate Middleton sued a French publication after it disseminated topless photos taken on a vacation. It ended in a settlement.

There have been injunctions made by the Queen and Prince Charles to prevent staff selling their stories.

MsPepperPotts · 01/10/2019 23:50

It's about time. He should have done it sooner.
I hope he sues for millions and then some.
Hopefully he can bankrupt the whole organisation and wipe them out of existence.
