Questions I have about Hey Duggee

LisaSimpsonsbff · 21/09/2019 19:52

Is he a childminder? If so, I am concerned because his ratios are off, and also he is a dog.
Why are all the children animals apart from one who seems to be a lower-case 'r'?
Is Alexander Armstrong being sarcastic when he says at the end of the episode 'well that was fun, wasn't it Duggee?'
Why do I sometimes end up watching to the end of the episode even though my toddler never does? Also, where do I send off for all the badges I have thus accumulated?

Here’s my question...

Duggee is apparently an expert in everything because he has a badge in it. But by the end of each episode all the squirrels have the same badge, but they know fuck all.

FlaviaAlbia · 21/09/2019 20:17

Squirrels is a Scouting section in NI for 4-6yr old boys. I always wondered if the person who wrote it knew about Squirrels or if it was just a coincidence.

FlaviaAlbia · 21/09/2019 20:18

Wait, I'm wrong. It's ages 5-7 I think, not 4-6.

I like duggee. My favourite is the rain dance song.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 21/09/2019 20:19

It is called the clubhouse BUT if you slackers had watched the day off badge (something like that) episode then you’d know it was also Duggee’s home!

Is that the one where they go on the trip out? I think I have seen that (again, half - I only really put the TV on when I'm cooking so I'm never giving it my full attention, though I have sometimes briefly abandoned dinner for Duggee) and that's why I thought he was a childminder.

I think it's funny he never plans anything. The squirrels show up and he's always engrossed in something on his own like he had no idea they were coming. They ask him what he is doing and they just sort of join in/ fuck it up/ take over and he just goes with the flow.

This is true and, as the opening sequence makes clear, there is definitely a set time for Duggee so this has to be his fuck-up.

The river badge makes me crack up! And I love the singing badge! My daughter dances to the songs!!!

Tags mum flirts with Duggee which is disturbing but yes agree with pp Bing is so messed up!

PuffHuffle5 · 21/09/2019 20:20

I like the Ostrich aerobic work out video.

LauraPalmersBodybag · 21/09/2019 20:20

I’m derailing BUT... @PuffHuffle5 who and what is Flop and most importantly, why??!

Our best theory is that it’s a Truman Show style microworld, but also an organ farm and the children are genetically engineered to be much larger than the adults caring for them.

We did think it might be an ordinary farm but it seems incredibly resource intensive for a relatively low-value commodity.

We may spend too much time thinking about these things. (Iggle Piggle is clearly a castaway from a shipwreck and the Night Garden is his dying hallucination; Norman is Fireman Sam’s secret love child which is why he’s not in some kind of facility for delinquents by now.)

gottastopeatingchocolate · 21/09/2019 20:26

So what animal is the Squirrel who looks like a blueberry?

LisaSimpsonsbff · 21/09/2019 20:27

One of the most serious people I know (he is a historian of tax, and kind of has a personality to go with that) told me that the children in Bing are bigger than the adults because it is a visual representation of a toddler's inflated sense of self in a world that has not yet taught them that they're small. I genuinely couldn't work out whether or not he was joking, and indeed whether or not he is right.

donquixotedelamancha · 21/09/2019 20:29

have you been watching Bing?? No idea what the set up is there...

Bing is set on one of the levels of hell. The weird sack creatures like flop are the souls of the damned who murdered children.

They are doomed to spend eternity looking after incredibly annoying child-demons (bing and the other animals). The souls cannot express anger, no matter how dickish the little animals are.

megletthesecond · 21/09/2019 20:30

soub . Mine are almost too old for CBBC and I have a soft spot for Duggee too. Luckily my niece gives me an excuse to watch it.
The Apocalypse Now episode is fab.

NotSoThinLizzy · 21/09/2019 20:30

Only here to say

Stick stick stick stick sticky sticky stick stick

icebearforpresident · 21/09/2019 20:33

Hey Dugee is the best kids tv programme of all time and my 2 won’t watch it 😭

On the other hand topsy and Tim is seven shades of shit and it’s all they want to watch.

Sweetooth92 · 21/09/2019 20:35

I love duggee. Often get back from the nursery run for my son and watch it while eating my breakfast before work 😳

Grimbles · 21/09/2019 20:35

@gottastopeatingchocolate

Betty who is an octopus

JassyRadlett · 21/09/2019 20:37

So what animal is the Squirrel who looks like a blueberry?

Betty? She’s an octopus. Her dad’s a submarine captain.

This has reminded me of my love for the Spooky Badge and the Scooby-Doo homage, and Betty dressing up as Super Mario in the Dressing Up Badge.

And the Grandparents Badge. I want Norrie’s gran.

wonkylegs · 21/09/2019 20:37

I made a ton of the badges for DS2s advent calendar using fabric, ink transfer and embroidery tread
We sewed them on to a big blanket so now we have a hey duggee blanket

AppropriateAdult · 21/09/2019 20:39

Don’t ruin Bing for me! I love Bing (and Topsy & Tim Blush)

LisaSimpsonsbff · 21/09/2019 20:39

DH complains about Betty because he says she has too few legs to be an octopus, but he clearly IBU because obviously some of them are behind each other

Enid is a pet cat. Which is fucking dark when you think about it

Wasn't there a thread a while back about how horses are standard horses in the Sylvanian world? THAT'S dark.

amatsip · 21/09/2019 20:43

My daughter imitate the lightning episode where they all cling to your legs and a stick stick stick song is legendary Smile
