Just that really.
Dp once made burgers bulked out with weetabix that were vile and ended up in the bin🤮 and also a slow cooker beef and veg stew with water and no stock.
I once made a Chinese tofu vegan dish from an American cookbook that looked like cat 🐈 sick and also went straight into the bin without a taste( brave dp tasted it and said it was ok)

I also made a tuna lasagne from a budget cookbook that was rank.

COD without batter and it wasn't cooked or hot enough either. I dread every time we go to in-laws for tea.

Sadbadglad · 18/09/2019 18:40

Ex mother in law put tin tomatoes in her fruit salad.

notso · 18/09/2019 18:41

Vegan cheese, I think it was a herby one. It tasted like the smell of sweaty arse.

Egg sandwiches. Have attempted to force a few down out of politeness over the years but it never ends well. I end up having to excuse myself...

Crystal Noodles. Texture of plastic and felt so fine it felt like trying to swallow hair.
Did not make the first swallow and never again Envy

The very worst was kimchi, ordered from our local Chinese who has branched out into various South Asian cuisine. Smelled like petrol, tasted... indescribable 🤢

Another memorable one was a dish from a hotel in St Petersburg. Meat in thick yellow sauce. Tasted like stewing steak, but when I scraped the sauce off, it was a white meat.

Still remember being 6yo and my BFF's au pair forcing me to eat her tuna pasta bake. She cooked the pasta, chucked in a can of tuna and a tin of cold chopped toms... and dinner was served!

MadeleineMaxwell · 18/09/2019 18:53

Red fermented tofu.

Small amounts in sauces - marvellous, umami, yum.

On its own - a cross between rancid pâté and vegan cheese with some mouldy socks thrown in.

ImNotYourGranny · 18/09/2019 18:55

Quorn, utterly vile stuff that turns my stomach.

Gone2far · 18/09/2019 18:56

My mother's cooking.any of it.
And andouilette. I thought I was being dead cosmopolitan ordering it. Big mistake, it smelled so awful I couldn't eat it.

SallyOMalley · 18/09/2019 19:01

Grits. Horrible.

Popetthetreehugger · 18/09/2019 19:07

Afraid it’s in the fridge as we speak .... chocolate mousse... Rock hard , bitter , black as coal ... I can’t serve it up ! So made a toffee apple crumble , o and the honey Combe has melted to the bottom of the tin šŸ™„....

AudacityOfHope · 18/09/2019 19:12

The day before I got induced I took myself for a lovely lunch, and ordered a slice of vanilla cheesecake.

After a few bites I realised the entire thing had gone green; christ knows how long it had been sitting there but it was like trying to chew a tire Envy

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 18/09/2019 19:13

Durian

perpetuallyperplexedbylife · 18/09/2019 19:24

Andouillettes. A speciality of the region I lived in in France. Tripe sausages best described as bits of seasoned inner tubes wrapped up in a condom. Vile.

Confuseddotcotton · 18/09/2019 19:32

Warm, fermented mares milk.
As disgusting as you might imagine..

AgeLikeWine · 18/09/2019 19:33

An okra curry from a vegetarian Indian restaurant. Disgustingly slimy inedible slimy muck which tasted of nothing but chilli and slime. I spat it out. The rest of the food was delicious.

Daffodil2018 · 18/09/2019 19:34

Sweetbreads. I gagged.

Soola · 18/09/2019 19:38

My ex made a stew. He is a meat eater and I’m a vegetarian.
He made my ā€˜stew’ on a separate pan.

It consisted of hot water, lots of hot water, rock hard undercooked potatoes, carrots and leeks.

It looked gross and one bite of the undercooked potato had me inadvertently gag and he went beserk. The rotten food and him screaming in my face was extremely unpleasant.

siratcha · 18/09/2019 19:41

I recently went vegan and it's been very hit and miss on the tofu front.

I followed a recipe which didn't bake the tofu first and it was soggy. I had to chuck it as it reminded me of brain matter and once that thought had occurred, I couldn't unsee it

HairyChinChin · 18/09/2019 19:47

Bone marrow. Truly awful.

OhTheRoses · 18/09/2019 19:48

Not so bad compared to some of you: apricot and almond soup. Truly vile. Okra -truly vile. Whelks - I passed.

MitMopse · 18/09/2019 19:48

Korean 'sweets'. Bleurghh

Jamhandprints · 18/09/2019 19:50

Vegan cheese. Just the smell gave me actual nightmares.

ThePolishWombat · 18/09/2019 19:50

HairyChin that’s another beauty from my Thai in-laws...
MIL lives over here now, but will not waste anything. She cracks open chicken bones and sucks the marrow out Confused the thought alone makes me want to spew. I’ve never tried it thank god

staedtlerpencil · 18/09/2019 19:51

Chicken feet stew. In Singapore. I thought it looked like a nice chicken casserole on the menu picture šŸ˜‚

Jenniferturkington · 18/09/2019 19:51

We were at a temple in Thailand and there was a lady selling what looked like small doughnuts. They were definitely sugary on the outside but we all had a shock when we bit in to them and they were filled with some sort of warm fish paste.
