10pm the night before back to school: am I the only one?

Fuckety fucksticks, WHY have I left it until tonight to fill in the Health Care Plan, consisting of 28,000 forms that have to be handwritten, with each box being so miniscule you can barely fit "see separate note" in it, and each form duplicating approx 75% of what was on the form you filled in last?

PLEASE tell me you are squinting like a mole trying to sew 200 name tapes, or emptying every cupboard in the house looking for a school tie...I'm not the only disgracefully disorganised slattern am I? Blush

I never learn. I’ll be ironing clothes, writing names with biro on shirt labels and packing lunch boxes and pe kits in the morning. It’ll be fine....

Cuddlysnowleopard · 03/09/2019 22:01

I was going to sew in name tape to DS2's shirts, but he's agreed with me that last year's still fit. As does his old blaser, which didn't make it's way into the washing machine over the summer, so I've just sponged it.

This is definitely the most disorganised I've ever been.

Titsywoo · 03/09/2019 22:01

Erm no sorry I'm organised and done Grin

What's a health care plan?

AudTheDeepMinded · 03/09/2019 22:05

Well, you've just reminded me that DS2's spare inhaler is probably still in his old classroom, thanks!
I've not made lunch boxes or fund PE trainers. But I have packed PE kits, labelled uniform and shoes and sorted out coats. I also managed to get all of their hair cuts done today. But it will still be a bonkers chaotic hell to get out of the house on time tomorrow.

Delatron · 03/09/2019 22:05

Don’t sew! Use the sticky nametags.

underneaththeash · 03/09/2019 22:05

I’m usually quite organised, but noticed yesterday evening that i’d forgotten to buy DS2 new school shirts (Although DS1 appears to have 8!)
Too late to buy any, so I had to ask if someone had one I could borrow...,

palahvah · 03/09/2019 22:07

They can only wear one shirt each tomorrow...

catnip82 · 03/09/2019 22:07

DD has just "by the way mum" I've got no trainers for PE and ive lost my calculator 😳

Milkstick · 03/09/2019 22:09

Gaaaaah thought I was sorted - ear defenders, got to find them tomorrow!!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 03/09/2019 22:10

I have gone one better than iron on name tags and a name stamp that the ink doesn’t wash out 😁

I was the same ....

WhenYouCantRunYouCrawl · 03/09/2019 22:10

I've been out to the supermarket this evening to get shoes for my daughter. She's starting preschool tomorrow and for some reason I was under the impression that she could wear any shoes and I've just checked the paraphernalia and she actually needs black shoes. So I've bought a few pairs in the hope that one pair fits and I can return the rest.

Whilst there, I saw a woman with three kids all in their pyjamas, picking out their stationery and school uniform. Grin

Wynston · 03/09/2019 22:11

Ive had to light a fire to dry ds's shoes......as he went knee deep into a river yesterday!
I cannot find his school coat!
On a positive note i had school jumper embroidered with his name-small win!
Plus i can still hear him and his brother chatting!!

RickOShay · 03/09/2019 22:12

underneath. I’ve done the same thing!!
Ds1 grand total of none
Ds2 appears to have 6 brand new ones
You’ve also reminded me that I have to fill in DD’s personal information form, going to make a cup of tea and do they now. Will be glad when tomorrow morning is over Grin

RandomMess · 03/09/2019 22:15

My 14 year old has just announced she doesn't have a coat...

Now she mentions it the old one is fit for the bin 🤷🏽‍♀️

m00rfarm · 03/09/2019 22:15

I used to get all the school stuff ready, labelled, PE kit, books, bags the week after summer term finished, Then my son and I headed on holiday for 4 weeks and flew back the night before school started (significantly cheaper flights) with everything ready to go for the first day of term. He even packed his school bag in July! It was the only day he was fully prepared for school ...

Louise0701 · 03/09/2019 22:15

I’ve just got into bed. I ordered uniform online before term even ended as my due date with DC3 was 20/08 and I was really smug about how organised I was....
I washed it yesterday and have just finished name labelling 🙄
Can’t wait to attempt getting all 3 out the door for 8am tomorrow. Maybe new baby will sleep through......

TeenPlusTwenties · 03/09/2019 22:17

I suspect that if you have to fill in a HCP then your holidays have been pretty full on, so I'm not surprised you have left paperwork until the last minute.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 03/09/2019 22:18

I use sticky name labels too.
I’ve been pretty organised this time although I did wash a blazer and jumper this afternoon and buy shoes and socks yesterday.

ThePhoenixRises · 03/09/2019 22:19

writing names Shit! Knew I had forgotten to do something.

BlackeyedGruesome · 03/09/2019 22:20

Squinting like a mole and doing the health care plan. A new one for each condition. There are four.

Iggly · 03/09/2019 22:20

No, because I’ll leave it to the weekend 😂

steppemum · 03/09/2019 22:20

2 of mine started today.
16 year old was still up when we went to bed.
When I came down this morning there was a finance form on the table with a note saying it needs filling in and needs photocopy evidence. All with 20 minutes until he leaves!

BlackeyedGruesome · 03/09/2019 22:21

The uniform did not arrive from the shop.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 03/09/2019 22:21

@Titsywoo it's to document food allergies and asthma protocols and medication etc.

They will know it's all last minute as well because I filled in all the easy bits first then my black pen ran out which was THE ONLY BLACK PEN IN THE ENTIRE HOUSE, so random half sentences or phone numbers on every form are finished in blue pen. I am going to learn from this, I mean it.

Don’t sew nametapes. Get a stamp. Pricey, but life changing
