Does anyone else have a running monologue of mean thoughts in their head

Blush

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while and I’m due a name change soon so I’ll probably do afterwards Wink

I noticed a while ago that I seem to have a running monologue of actually really mean thoughts in my head. I’m not a horrible person, have good friends, respected at work, kind to small children and animals, but the more I’ve noticed it the more I’ve started questioning what’s wrong with me.

For example when I first noticed it I was walking into work and ran into a colleague I get on really well with. Then I just thought “god they are really ugly shoes”. It I was completely unconscious, it just popped into my head.

Since then I’ve noticed it more and more and I’m wondering if it’s just me or is everyone walking around thinking quite bloody mean things about people.

Another example was on a telephone conference and the other person was kind of stumbling over a question and I noticed myself saying “fucking hurry up you bloody thicko”. I would NEVER voice that out-loud and would be furious with my DC if they called anyone a thicko.

God he’s put on some weight
She’s got a bloody annoying voice
Why would you wear that dress

It just seems to be running through my head all bloody day. I don’t think I’ve always done it or maybe I have and I’ve only just tuned in but I’m hoping I’m not the only one

Roj - if I had a sexist twat spouting on where I worked, the wicked thoughts would no way stay in my head - they'd be articulated right in his sexist face. Don't silence yourself with people who deserve a dressing down.

Yeah, I know he's a fictitious character but...wtf?

You probably need to interpret the clip in the context of the ‘Nurse Jackie’ universe, which is populated by a multitude of deeply flawed characters navigating a rapidly shifting moral high-ground under very difficult circumstances; every episode contains many unsettling incidents, difficult decisions, highly questionable actions and the darkest humour I’ve ever come across.

Seriously, if you’ve never watched ‘Nurse Jackie’, then watch it. It’s brilliant.

@colourlessgreenidea yes yes yes!!! That's what I'm talking about

Wow I am so shocked by this!!! Now I’m going to be even more paranoid about what everyone is thinking of me 😄 I don’t have this but as a PP has mentioned I do do it to myself - how fat I am etc.

I do this some times. Also I am really bad at taking people on first impressions but later find out they are really nice. I would never be rude to them. One girl i worked with not direct I was not sure about and a colleague i sat with didnt like her they had had a run in so that didn't help but now i sit by her she is lovely. I do try now not to do this now as grow older. People do irritate me though but i am memopausal. I am generally a happy person and now know if someone is naturally quiet and shy doesnt mean they are rude.

I did love Edie Falco in Sopranos.

My love of Carmela was my main incentive to watch this. If were a Sopranos fan, you’ve definitely got the stomach for Nurse Jackie. Totally different set-ups, but the two shows are quite similar in that the characters aren’t necessarily nice people, but you root for them nonetheless. NJ has a bit less violence, however Grin
