Do you still have your national insurance card?

And if not, when did you lose it?
Just had to put my NI number on something today which made me think of it. I’m rapidly approaching 40 and I think I lost mine about 15 years ago.

I've not seen mine since the year 2000 when I first started work Grin

bookmum08 · 24/08/2019 20:17

I still have mine. It still has my maiden name on because I have no idea how you change it. When changes were made to the way you are registered to vote a few years ago I had to put my NI number on the form. This caused confusion as I had put my married name down. I had to go to the council office with marriage certificate and all that. When I went I was one of several women there who had had the same issue. I asked the council chap how you go about changing it. He shrugged and said "dunno".
So I do still have the card...

KnifeAngel · 24/08/2019 20:17

Yes I still have it.

ExpletiveDelighted · 24/08/2019 20:19

No, haven't seen it for about 30 years. Mine was one of the old cardboard ones.

VivaLeBeaver · 24/08/2019 20:19

No. Ive known my number off by heart since Soon after I got it.

Dd has an NI number now and they don’t send a card which is a pita as she keeps forgetting it.

JudgeRindersMinder · 24/08/2019 20:19

I still have mine, I’m 49. I think I got mine not long after it was changed from paper to plastic

Meltedicicle · 24/08/2019 20:20

Yep! Keep it in my purse.

BuildBuildings · 24/08/2019 20:20

Yest I do. I'm 34. (side note as I typed that I had to think about my age for a sec) Confused I don't take it out with me I keep it with financial documents.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 24/08/2019 20:20

Same

RezCowgirl · 24/08/2019 20:21

Yes but I don't need it because I know my number.

EskewedBeef · 24/08/2019 20:21

No, I haven't seen it since I left home. I bet my mum could lay her hand on it within a minute of me asking if I did want it. She's so good at keeping things that are completely useless.

dementedpixie · 24/08/2019 20:21

Yes I have mine and got it changed to my married name at some point

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 24/08/2019 20:21

Lost it years ago just after going to uni. I know the number by heart though as I need it to sign in for my payslip.

wowfudge · 24/08/2019 20:21

No - I lost my purse years ago and it was in it.

100timewforgotten · 24/08/2019 20:21

I do lol it's in a drawer.

NeverSayFreelance · 24/08/2019 20:22

Yeah in my purse! Can never remember the number.

dementedpixie · 24/08/2019 20:22

Even if you did change your name you wouldn't get a new card as they no longer do the cards

MrsDeltaB · 24/08/2019 20:23

I thought I was alone Blush. Yes I do, am approaching 41, it's rather yellowed from years of chain smoking in a former life but still in one piece.

I used to know it by half but now also get it jumbled with His Lordships so glad to be able to check it.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 24/08/2019 20:24

No I believe I used it to assist me in rolling fairly poor efforts at joints when at uni. I know the number off the top of my head though (surprisingly)

Yaflamingalah · 24/08/2019 20:24

Yes. I keep mine in my purse. I’m 39

Horses4 · 24/08/2019 20:25

Mine turned up at my sister’s house a couple of months ago. She has moved three times since I left the city where I lived with her when I graduated 16 years ago.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 24/08/2019 20:25

Yes it's in my purse. I'm 39.

It makes me feel so nostalgic thinking about it. I remember receiving it and feeling so grown up 😂 I know mine won’t reappear anywhere as my wallet got stolen with it in it.
