And if not, when did you lose it?
Just had to put my NI number on something today which made me think of it. I’m rapidly approaching 40 and I think I lost mine about 15 years ago.

No. I had mine when I was 17, 19. No idea what happened to it since. 30 years later.....

Chickenish · 24/08/2019 22:05

I couldn’t be bothered to keep mine after they changed the rules and said it wasn’t proof of my right to work anymore.

SilverySurfer · 24/08/2019 22:13

Last saw mine about fifty years ago but I remember my number.

myidentitymycrisis · 24/08/2019 22:19

Yes it’s a paper one, I’m 52!

elliejjtiny · 24/08/2019 22:19

I think my mum has it somewhere

genome · 24/08/2019 22:27

I was mugged almost 13 years ago and it was in the purse that was taken. I have an old payslip with it on in my files now as I can never remember what order the numbers go in.

reluctantbrit · 24/08/2019 22:47

To all who say they memorised the number - how?

I think I used my number three times in the last 19 years, two of those occasions as in the last 12 months. No way I would remember a number I normally don’t use,

Musicalstatues · 24/08/2019 22:57

I haven’t deliberately memorised it, it just seems to have sunk in over the years x

i still have mine and my dd's (20[s)

EskewedBeef · 24/08/2019 23:00

In the same way you can remember anything! I can't explain the mechanism of long term memory, but sometimes it's easy to remember important things. I haven't seen my NI card once in my adult life, but my number is firmly in my head.

Yubaba · 24/08/2019 23:04

I think I threw mine away in an old purse years ago.
I’ve had the same job for 21 years and have no idea what my NI number is. I know it starts JT and that’s it.

Amummyatlast · 24/08/2019 23:07

Mine’s in my purse. I remember it arriving in the post when I was nearly 16 and I wasn’t sure what it was for. It’s one of the blue/red credit plastic credit card types.

I also have a NRA. It’s upstairs in our office and I use it to store my certificates.

BrokenWing · 24/08/2019 23:12

Yes I still have mine which would have been issued 1984.

Mines is a yellow paper card in a brown envelope, both approx A5 size.

RubaDubMum89 · 24/08/2019 23:15

I've still got mine (I'm 30). I know where it is, but I rarely get it, unless I'm having a moment of doubt about my memory 😂

LatteLove · 24/08/2019 23:17

Nah. Never had any use for it. The number is on payslips if I ever need it.

PancakeAndKeith · 24/08/2019 23:20

Nope. I had my purse nicked when I was about 19 and that went with it.

drum123 · 24/08/2019 23:21

Still got mine, I'm 64. And I know it off by heart. For some reason I can remember sequences of numbers and/or letters pretty well. Can't remember what I had for breakfast, or the right names for my AC's and grandchildren - I even call my son by the name of my ex husband of 19 years,

Wellhelloxx11xx · 24/08/2019 23:28

No 😫

MrsAJ27 · 24/08/2019 23:30

No...can't remember the last time I saw it!!!

Msgiggles30 · 24/08/2019 23:31

I lost mine at 17 😂 on a night out I think..never knew how to replace it but know the number off by heart luckily!

Threeminis · 24/08/2019 23:35

I don't have mine.
When mine arrived my dad to me to memorise it because I would lose it. He was right.

whotheeff · 24/08/2019 23:40

I have mine and I'm 48! No idea how I've kept it safe so long!

CakeNinja · 24/08/2019 23:46

No, I lost it one night as a late teen using it to do something very naughty Blush

Stillinbedat10am · 25/08/2019 03:01

Mine arrived just before I turned 16 and by my 16th birthday I didn't have it anymore due to my purse going missing at school. I tried to get a replacement but apparently it wasn't possible. Luckily I had the number memorised from day 1 due to it being a weird combination of the initials of someone in my family and a string of double numbers.

WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 25/08/2019 03:10

No, I haven’t had it since I was about 20. I don’t actually know the number either, but I live overseas. I am sure I can track it down when needed.
