And if not, when did you lose it?
Just had to put my NI number on something today which made me think of it. I’m rapidly approaching 40 and I think I lost mine about 15 years ago.

Still have mine it's tucked away with the birth certificates.

pp12 · 24/08/2019 21:11

I think I know where it is.

opinionminion · 24/08/2019 21:14

Yes ! I keep it in my purse but I do know my number anyway.
I'm 49 it's old school.

PinkBuffalo · 24/08/2019 21:14

I still have mine!
I don't know the number though Grin so the card comes in handy if I do need it for any reason

Number3or4 · 24/08/2019 21:15

It was in the bag I accidentally left on a bus more than a decade ago. Luckily I had written it down on a job application form I was planning on sending the following day.

actuallyquitesmall · 24/08/2019 21:20

Yes, I've still got mine, but I know my NI number off by heart so I never need to look at it.

Elllicam · 24/08/2019 21:23

I just smugly pulled mine out of my phone case only to realise it was my clubcard. So I’ve lost mine.

Drogonssmile · 24/08/2019 21:25

Nope. No idea when or where I lost it. I memorised it soon after getting it though and have never yet forgotten it (luckily)

Lucafritz · 24/08/2019 21:26

Yes mine's a plastic card i got at 16 i still use it as proof of my NI number but i feel old having it since most people i know my age or older lost theirs and the younger generation don't get them anymore.

janj2301 · 24/08/2019 21:27

My daughters have theirs but mine was a piece if card, so long gone. I understand they don't issue cards anymore, just a letter

MissCalamity · 24/08/2019 21:29

No Sad
It was stolen along with my purse when I was 16, there was nothing else in there apart from the grand total of £5, tossers.

georgialondon · 24/08/2019 21:29

I have mine but I know my number so I never look at it.

HeronLanyon · 24/08/2019 21:30

I still have mine ! Brown card. Larger than expected !

Benjispruce · 24/08/2019 21:32

Yes. Still in my purse. I was disappointed that DD didn’t get one and just had to memorise it somehow/ phone notes.

Musicalstatues · 24/08/2019 21:32

@DrMadelineMaxwell ahhh the NRA!! Mine is somewhere at my mums house I think!

About a year ago I got a company off eBay to reproduce me a ‘new’ old style plastic card with my NI number on. I missed having one !!! It’s fab. God knows why I missed it as I know it off by heart but as I’m getting older I’m more nostalgic.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/08/2019 21:44

I still have mine ! Brown card. Larger than expected

Mine is half red, half blue, credit card sized, would have been issued in the late 1980s.

MirandaWest · 24/08/2019 21:45

Haven’t seen mine for years. I do know my number off by heart though.

DramaAlpaca · 24/08/2019 21:46

I have mine, I'm 55. I don't even need it, I haven't lived in the UK for many years.

Auntpetunia2015 · 24/08/2019 21:48

Yeah have my original card one from the mid 80s despite knowing the number off by heart. I took it to a new employer the other week as the wanted proof of my ni number ..the young young said it wasn’t any good as it wasn’t a valid one!! I was a bit confused and asked what she meant -she wanted a letter from hmrc or a plastic card. I’ve never had a plastic one.

RingtheBells · 24/08/2019 21:51

Yes, mine is a plastic one from 1974

Ounce · 24/08/2019 21:52

But of course! 56.

funmummy48 · 24/08/2019 21:54

I'm in my 50s and still have mine. I know my number off by heart so don't need to use it though.

Iwantacampervan · 24/08/2019 21:58

I still have my cardboard one (I'm mid 50s) - I know the number so I don't need to refer to it. I've never had to show the card as proof either.

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 24/08/2019 22:00

In my 70s, still have mine.
