How long do you leave cards on display for?

It was my DD's birthday on 25 June and her birthday cards are cluttering up my mantelpiece. I really want to chuck them out but would I be mean to do so?

What's a "normal" / "acceptable" amount of time to leave them on display?

Floralnomad · 18/07/2019 16:40

A week at most , I can’t stand cards cluttering up the place .

MyMelodie · 18/07/2019 16:40

I agree about a week usually, two weeks absolute maximum

AbbyNormal · 18/07/2019 16:40

Less than a week.

BlueMerchant · 18/07/2019 16:40

5/6 days.

Ohyesiam · 18/07/2019 16:41

Silversky70 · 18/07/2019 16:41

I think we do a week.

fussychica · 18/07/2019 16:41

A week here.

Billballbaggins · 18/07/2019 16:41

A week, maybe 2 if I’m feeling lazy or the kids moan that they want the cards up for longer

Greenteandchives · 18/07/2019 16:42

A week. Seems reasonable.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/07/2019 16:42

A week, unless someone’s been away.

MustBeAWeasly · 18/07/2019 16:42

I hate cards. I only buy them for people I know would be upset if they didn't get one like parents.
I only keep them up a couple days. Get rid!

Elvesdontdomagic · 18/07/2019 16:44

A few days

Mummy1224 · 18/07/2019 16:44

One or two weeks, although if it’s something really special it can be up for months! A friend gave me a beautiful card with some lovely words written from her - it makes me feel happy whenever I see it, so it’s been up for about three months now! Grin

2 or 3 days

RuthW · 18/07/2019 16:50

One week unless dd is away and they are hers. Then they stay longer.

Oliack1417 · 18/07/2019 16:51

A few days, it's only their birthday for one day?!

Crunchymum · 18/07/2019 16:55

Average of a week. Depends on day of birthday and recycling day. If birthday is on a Sunday and recycling the next day then it's a week and a day. If birthday is on a Tues and recycling on a Monday then its 6 days.

I leave the girls up for a bir longer as their birthdays are just days apart and one always falls close to recycling day.

Do I sound a bit obsessed about recycling day? Shock

usersouthcoast · 18/07/2019 16:57

A week max

drsausage · 18/07/2019 16:57

We don't display them.

LemonTreeLemon · 18/07/2019 16:58

Gosh so leaving them 3 weeks is a really long time, then!

My mum leaves them up until the next occasion so permanently has cards up. So I've obviously got a skewed idea of acceptable time frames!

They're going in the recycling bin right now!

Um, I just realised my daughter’s are still up and her birthday was in May.... mind you they’re in the dining room and we don’t use it much (though we have used it since May).
