Continuing the one about Carol, Dick and the “ free “ holiday .

Carol has replied to Anne saying she is shocked that Anne would cancel her flight after promising it. Anne has told her that she gave her no option .
Both Barbara and I have messaged Carol saying that she has behaved badly and should apologise to Anne.

Carol can do one! Dick was never invited, and he therefore booked flights for nothing because he had nowhere to stay!

Keep on going to yoga and all 3 of you go for a drink at the golf club. She/he doesn't get to win by making Anne or any of you feel uncomfortable. I think Carol could do with the home truth now, preferably calmly in public.

Sorry it's still going on Op. I agree with the others that the friendship is over, so I'd just ignore her but would make sure the whole golf club knows what cheeky fuckers they both are. Carol only cares about herself - what about the stress & anxiety their behaviour has caused the 3 of you!!

Agree with other PPs that this needs direct comment in public at the golf club that states legal action will follow if they continue with these outright lies.

A word in the ear of a couple of guys or their wives at the golf club, telling the truth alongside a comment that Anne is really hurt by the accusations. Also ask that if the conversation comes up then could they put everybody straight.

Or better still talk to the local gossip.

I would get "Eddie" to spread the word at the golf club that Dick tried to gatecrash a women only holiday. Make him into a laughing stock.

It is also possible that Carol tried to play both sides - she may have told Dick it was all agreed as he booked tickets before she "asked" Anne if he could come - yet Carol only sprung it on Anne at the last minute to make it more likely that she would get her own way. Either way Carol sounds pretty manipulative and it's clear that she and Dick never intended to look for their own accommodation!

Reimburse him??!!!!!! No fucking way!!! He never asked to come, just assumed he could-they both did. That's on them. I just cannot believe the cfery of these two. I'm so angry on your behalf!!!
And as for Carol being humiliated, she did that to herself. A true friend would not take advantage as she has. Kick her to the kerb. And she can take her Dick with her. Harrumph!!!!!

I cannot believe that this is still going on. Bloody hell, they have no shame. Put the right people in the loop about what really happened. You lovely ladies don't deserve this crap from such a pair of tight ass fucks.

I am sorry that your friendship with Carol is definitely over. Such a shame after all you have been through together.

The positive from this is that the bond between you, Anne and Barbara has strengthened. Smile

I'm sure that Eddie will enjoy setting the golf club right about the Dick Head - I'm sure they already have a good idea what he's really like Wink

I'm sure they won't ever take it to Small Claims Court - but they're welcome to try because they'd lose Grin

I think what should happen is that Dick goes out on the golf course alone one day, he never returns & an extensive search recovers only his golf bag, a Pringle jumper & his 9 iron, bloody & slightly bent, a short distance away. Meanwhile Carol is found dead in the yoga place having tied herself into a freak death knot. When police break into their empty house they're stunned to discover that the airing cupboard had been transformed into a voodoo shrine, where wax effigies of our 3 heroines, stuck with more pins than a porcupine at an embroidery class, revealed to the outside world Dick & Carol's true natures, the dark underbelly of unsuspecting suburbia.
Obviously this is for the film version - not suggesting for one minute that anyone should actually do this to them. Clearly, no hint of a suggestion here...

Carol is unbelievable. Anne just needs to say "I'm sorry you feel that way" and walk away when she tries it again (and unfortunately there will almost certainly be a next time).

Dick should never have booked a flight in the first place as Anne was consistent in saying that he wasn't invited.

I reckon Ann will get a small court case summons. To which I would invite some golf buddies and someone from the local newspaper along. Although I suspect afterwards they still won't see what they did was wrong, and will claim the judge was in on robbing him of his free holiday as well.

I'm glad Eddie tried to put things straight at the golf club and I would imagine that he actually continued that after Dick had stalked out, so the golf club buddies should by now have the true story.

Carol can fuck off with her hopes of getting ANY money back - just no. Let this be an expensive lesson to them both to not presume upon other people's good natures!

I agree that Gerry and whomever Barbara's husband got designated as (is that Eddie?) should do their best to scotch the blame that you and Barbara are getting - I'm not sure how "actionable" slander is these days, and whether being in a miff and blaming you even constitutes slander, but it's still unpleasant!

I hope Anne can relax again soon - she really needs to do absolutely nothing from now on, unless they continue to harass her, in which case a "cease and desist" letter might be needed.

Carol's anxiety is through the roof because she caused all of this and now can't find a way out of it. I reckon she got carried away, told Dick they were both invited thinking Anne and the others would go along with it. Now she can't tell him he was never intended to be there. Twat that he undoubtedly is, it wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't actually got the full picture because the missus has been playing the sides to the middle.

I have known several women of a certain age who behave like this after years of being married to difficult men. They can't see the wood for the trees and certainly can't see that others aren't going to pander to the likes of Dick.
