Carol has replied to Anne saying she is shocked that Anne would cancel her flight after promising it. Anne has told her that she gave her no option .
Both Barbara and I have messaged Carol saying that she has behaved badly and should apologise to Anne.

In the end, bizarrely, it was an old episode of the Thin blue line which helped track him down. Had a clear vision of him in Midsomer but unable to locate the episode. As soon as the delights of Dick were described, RV’s face sprang to mind.

Disclaimer: Rupert you are probably the most delightful of men irl and would in no way attempt to hijack a male free holiday. So this casting suggestion is a testament to your acting ability and I will be campaigning strenuously in your corner once the film rights are sold.

Well as we cast rather exciting and gorgeous men and women in supporting roles, they may simply have extended their stay ??? Or are needing time to recover.

Before we knew he was ousted, was everyone else picturing Dick with grossing our heroines out by insisting on sipping G&T’s in the sun with his offensive holiday shirt unbuttoned, showing a previously hidden gold medallion nestled amongst the scraggly white chest hairs wafting in the breeze between his saggy moobs? Like a wannabe Channing Tatum. 🤢🤮🤢

Pretty sure Dick wears budgie smugglers and always, but always dives into the pool in a showy but inexpert manner. Then surfaces really quickly to make sure he's been seen and everyone is duly impressed with his prowess.

I’m back !
No word from Carol until the morning of our departure when Anne received a message from her saying she was “ beyond devastated “ and simply couldn’t believe Anne was being so unkind after all she had done for her ( this has never been in doubt ). Apparently we all knew about her anxiety ( we didn’t) and should have offered support and understanding rather than cut her off . She also said that Dick wants his flight money reimbursed .....
Anne didn’t reply. Obviously we talked about it while we were away but I can honestly say it did not spoil a fantastic week . We 3 oldies are and drank too much , laughed a lot, had a lot of fun and will definitely do something similar in the future .

It's a shame that Anne and Dick got so caught up in their "free holiday" that this happened. At this point I'm not sure that anything you say will make them admit the truth. They've probably already rewritten history to say that you agreed with Dick booking his flight, then changed your mind about him coming.

Top update OldButStill and I'm so pleased you had a good time. I guess returning is tinged by sadness that Anne has lost a friend, but never let her doubt herself that she has behaved impeccably in the face of some rather nasty manipulation attempts.

Carol really has no self-awareness, does she? Though she does appear to have a healthy dose of selfishness.
