Carol has replied to Anne saying she is shocked that Anne would cancel her flight after promising it. Anne has told her that she gave her no option .
Both Barbara and I have messaged Carol saying that she has behaved badly and should apologise to Anne.

I really do wish that the matter is over for Anne sake but I get the feeling that it's not.

I reckon that Dick will still go on the flight and book in somewhere for golf.

Carol will be stuck at home tending to the geraniums.

I feel so sorry for Anne in all this. She tries to do a nice thing for her friend who then blows it up in her face and basically ends the friendship.

Has Anne lost money on Cancelling Barbara’s flight? Presumably Dick is still on that flight so, if he also books Barbara a new seat, then it’s a horrifying prospect that you may actually see them on the flight

I'm imagining that Carole and clever Dick could still turn up in Spain with the "understanding" that Anne's cancelling the flight was actually done to help them with Carole "anxiety" and still expect to be housed.

@Slowliving I'm thinking of writing this up as a novel, except Dick and Carol would obviously have to turn up at the vila to maximise the drama.

Would they resolve their differences? Would Dick get his comeuppance? Would there be a Miss Marple-style murder and whodunnit?

Ho OP...glad you have it sorted but much as I don't want to scare you a couple of things I've seen over the years in travel!
If the villas/apts are through the same owner CF's could look to see what else is there and figure out where you all are.
Also if the airline was a budget one like Ryan Air they don't cancel down the flights so if she turned up could still fly. So maybe check that the airline has canx the original booking.
Pity travel insurance doesn't cover protection against CF'ery!
