Am I pregnant? With a twist!

Well, am I?
Am married, 40, not on hormonal contraception, periods gone a weird, but still regular.

For the past week or 2 am feeling with regularity tiny 'kicks' and 'rolls' along one side of my abdomen. Am not unusually gassy or anything. I have 3 kids already, for context, and it feels exactly like the first glitters.
Someone at work asked was I pg. Well my tummy has started to stick out a bit in front but I put it down to the wine and pizza.

I do feel fairly tired and had some horrendous anxiety attacks of late. Which to me are sparked by hormones.
But could also be the aforementioned wine and pizza. Or the peri. Or having 3 kids, a job, normal life stuff.

I do not want to freak out or tell anyone or make any sort of drama unless I have to. I just want to calmly and quietly poas - is there any stick for detecting a pregnancy of a few months rather than weeks?

I'm not in the UK, so GP visit will be €50, and I want privacy to consider my options, if any.

Any tests will detect the pregnancy hormone. Good luck

KnifeAngel · 02/05/2019 12:12

There was a lady on the TV programme Ambulance. She had done a test that was negative. The same night she gave birth. She had no idea she was pregnant.

I don't think they always show a positive if you are further on.

coffeeaddiction · 02/05/2019 12:13

When was your last period ? Not sure on if there's a test that can tell you months rather than weeks but probably best to establish if your are pregnant or not first rather than how far along you are , just buy a cheap test it will soon let you know .
And if you don't want to buy one in public I bought some on amazon for when I was trying to conceive

Pregnancy tests don't always show positive results after so many weeks. I believe it's called the "hook effect"

OP I think you might have to suck up the fee and see a GP for a blood test.

7Days · 02/05/2019 12:24

Last period was 4 weeks ago so I'd be due on this weekend. They have been regular so that's why I feel like a knob for being freaked out.
I had heard that pg tests can only detect the early pg hormone so not much good once you're even a little bit further along.
I'd love one to just give me an answer so I can freak out properly or not at all.

OP, I do not wish to alarm you unduly but I had exactly these symptoms and it did not turn out well.
Bloating on the stomach
kicks and rolls on one side of the stomach
feeling tired...

Please go ask for a blood test and for the test to include CA125. It could be fibroids, a cyst, endo,.... and number of things really, but do not ignore.

And yes, maybe pregnancy too!

7Days · 02/05/2019 12:28

Oh TwistedQueen, thank you for that angle. I hadn't considered anything else.

I hope you are doing ok

TwitterQueen1 sorry I got your name wrong.

You can just take a test and dilute your urine a bit. It would still come up positive. No point buying a FRER or something really sensitive.

But "phantom kicks" are common, and all the symptoms of pregnancy, as you know, can be produced by perimenopause.

NannyRed · 02/05/2019 12:31

Go pee on a stick, that will be far more accurate than asking random strangers on the internet!

TwitterQueen1 · 02/05/2019 12:34

TwistedQueen Grin Grin that's funny!

I seem to be in a holding pattern right now, which is good, thanks. And the doctors have lost interest in me

newdells · 02/05/2019 12:48

Surely it makes sense to just buy one (a cheap one) and wee on it and then take it from there. If it's positive then you know. If it's negative then consider options for blood tests etc. If you're only just starting to get "movements" now and just starting to show you would be around 4 months?? Just get a test, any test, and take it from there.

yourestandingonmyneck · 02/05/2019 13:10

Your last period was 4 weeks ago, but you think you can already feel a baby moving and think a normal pregnancy test wouldn't work as you are so far along? What? Confused

Squiff70 · 02/05/2019 13:19

SMH.

HollowTalk · 02/05/2019 13:21

If your period was 4 weeks ago then it's due around about now. Why would you be having movements when it's not even the size of a poppy seed?

Eliza9919 · 02/05/2019 13:22

I read earlier about the bleach test. Apparently this is a thing and if you put bleach in a pot of your urine, if it bubbles & froths you are pg, if not, you aren't.

Eliza9919 · 02/05/2019 13:24

yourestandingonmyneck & HollowTalk, its possible to have regular periods all the way through. That's what I'm assuming the OP suspects.

adaline · 02/05/2019 13:25

I think OP is saying she thinks she's several months along, regardless of her periods being regular.

OP I don't want to scare you, but there have been several threads along these lines on here over the years. The symptoms you have are unfortunately also symptoms of ovarian cancer, especially the bloating.

Please get yourself to a doctor ASAP. I like a PP said it's more likely to be hormones, cysts, even early menopause - but it's really not something you want to mess around with.

Nameusernameuser · 02/05/2019 13:25

Any test should work I would have thought!

DesperadoDan · 02/05/2019 13:26

Get a test op!!!

Some women still have a small bleed when their period is normally due when pregnant, I did with DD but I had loads of other pregnancy symptoms so tested despite having what seemed like a period.

DustyDustyKeyboard · 02/05/2019 13:27

yourestandingonmyneck and HollowTalk some people still have bleeding which mimics a period quite far into pregnancy. Their confusion is odten similar to yours when the facts are revealed!

Nonibaloni · 02/05/2019 13:30

I got a positive test at 27 weeks. I’ve never seen a line so fast in fact.

Ratbagratty · 02/05/2019 13:31

Get a cheap test, mine was positive when I turned out to be 30 weeks gone.

Otterses · 02/05/2019 13:32

OP, I really don't want to scare you, but I had a monthly 'period' up till about 20 something weeks when I was pregnant with DS. And it was a heavy, decent bleed every time.

Haworthia · 02/05/2019 13:34

It wasn’t until after I had babies that I realised my usual digestive rumblings felt JUST like small baby kicks sometimes. It’s weird. But it’s definitely my gut and not a baby!
