Is this Peak Jilly?

JoyousAsOtters · 11/04/2019 14:08

I have just made myself an omelette using wild garlic foraged from the woods on a walk with my labrador. I can confirm wild garlic is quite whiffy, not sure I’d go so far as to describe it as a ‘sexy reek’.

Have I reached Peak Jilly or is there anything else I could be doing this afternoon that would be Jillicious????

I'm also on my millionth re-read of the Rutshire Chronicles, currently on MWMHJ, and confess to spending some time last night searching the internet to get me some 'Softest suede knee boots in a mushroom pink', just because Rachel Levitsky has them.

Also marveling at all the heroic male characters having simply enormous penises, and all the comparisons to - Salami, Periscope, flagpoles, truncheon, eels (ew)

I'm off to fill my deep freeze with party food, my treasure has the day off.

teejayem · 12/04/2019 12:27

Does anyone have a sludge green T-shirt I can borrow!?

SymbollocksInteractionism · 12/04/2019 12:32

1st of May 😂
I'd forgotten about that!

iVampire · 12/04/2019 12:33

Before you go out, you need to touch up your base (which has of course leaked all over your handbag)

And douse yourself in Fracas

JoyousAsOtters · 12/04/2019 13:15

Well.

Lots of lovely bluebells plus acres of wild garlic about in the woods, but sadly the only romping was between my yellow lab and a springer spaniel. We did spot some huge black horses and I was briefly hopeful as dog and I pressed ourselves into the hedgerows to let them pass but they turned out to be ridden by two very friendly women, no greek noses or hip flasks between them as far as I could see, and neither of the horses reared up suddenly or got bitten by an adder so no Coopering about there.

Am now attempting to work - perhaps my Jo Malone is getting in the way of channeling Jilly and I should be wearing Diorissimo/Quercus/Fracas after all.

Maybe if it gets a bit warmer I can whip my top off and work on my laptop in the garden half naked or dig out a 'hopelessly inadequate' bikini top with mismatched bottoms?

Then cook a lovely fish pie for the other half returning from the city and leave all the cleaning for the 'daily'!

JoyousAsOtters · 12/04/2019 18:09

Ah yes, fish pie - how WERE they all under 8 stone if they were always eating four course suppers with bouef bourguignon, kedgeree, coronation chicken etc etc?

Husband and DCs are all away tonight so not much point cooking although I'm sure JoyousDog and MuchLessJoyousCats would love it.

MWMHJ is much my favourite. "Deary me I'll never get rid of this erection" is one of my favorite line. And Lysander and Kitty are so sweet Grin

Minkies11 · 12/04/2019 18:44

Those books have had a lasting impact on my (small) garden. It's crammed with philadelphus, stocks, phlox, lavendar etc and I haven't a bloody clue how to grow any of it Grin

marvellousnightforamooncup · 12/04/2019 19:00

Have you been to Cavendish House for a Cashmere jumper?

I'm travelling down to Rutshire Gloucestershire at the weekend. Looking forward to the bluebell woods. At the moment I'm channelling the dumpy but sweet character. I'm sure I'll soon lose weight due to some heartache and turn absolutely stunning. Not sure DH would be ok with me bonking a stable hand though.

Fazackerley · 12/04/2019 19:02

I've been gardening all afternoon. Need to have a bath to get the garden out from under my nails. Will liberally pour half a bottle of expensive French bath oil in the bath before a very cold glass of Chablis on an empty stomach.

JoyousAsOtters · 12/04/2019 19:18

Well I think we're all doing marvellously!

Surely it can't be long before one of us stumbles across some kind of Hunt Ball / Polo Match / Point to Point / Random Outdoor Orchestral Gala at which we'll be outrageously flirted with?

I have just lit a fire in which logs are burning 'merrily' but I'm sure they're not apple.

Minkies11 · 12/04/2019 19:27

Have lit my fire too but am burning a bit of kindling scavenged from the woods and a bit of pallet Blush
I'll try and remember to pick/steal sloes this year for gin and make jam etc.
Actually live (somewhere) in Rutshire gloucestershire though sadly not in the posh bit so love to try and live the cliché. Hurrah!

JoyousAsOtters · 12/04/2019 19:32

Ooh Minkies perhaps we'll run into one another at the polo?

FenellaMaxwell · 12/04/2019 19:35

Obviously they were all thin from the calories burnt by all that extra-marital romping. Grin Do you know anyone who has ponies you could flatter down the high street four abreast on a lead rein?

FenellaMaxwell · 12/04/2019 19:35

Clatter, not flatter Confused

Minkies11 · 12/04/2019 19:36

Yes @joyousasotters! We can wear inappropriate high heels and stamp divots back in while holding our hats on!
Or behave terribly sensibly and hand out tea and walnut cake in out tweed skirts and Barbours. ....

Fazackerley · 12/04/2019 19:37

I have genuinely just received my invite to the hunt ball. Hopefully I will be so heartbroken for some reason that the slinky rust coloured silk dress I pinched from my friend will hang off me.

JoyousAsOtters · 12/04/2019 19:43

@Minkies can we please dress inappropriately AND eat the walnut cake?

@Fazackerley you win the thread!
Make sure you have your name tape sewn in your knickers so when they resurface a few days later in the Cricket Club / Town Hall / Marquee where the ball was held they can easily be returned to your apoplectic mother.

Just remember wine tastes vile after brushing your teeth.

JoyousAsOtters · 12/04/2019 19:46

Ha ha ha @FenellaMaxwell genuinely laughing my head off at the kinds of things I might say to flatter the four ponies of the apocalypse.

'Wow, your manes are so tossy'
'Excellent prancing'

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/04/2019 19:57

I wonder when the football one is coming out. I think it might be called "Tackle!". I love the earlier ones though, especially Rivals, TMWMHJ and Apassionata.

Fazackerley · 12/04/2019 19:58

I only really like the girls, Octavia, Prudence etc. And Riders. Can live without the others.

JoyousAsOtters · 12/04/2019 20:04

I prefer the earlier ones too, I'm not so keen on the ones after Wicked! because I don't think they're as funny or the characters as human somehow.

But Rivals is my favourite, it's just so funny, lots of great storylines and I love Taggie and Rupert getting together.

Who was it she said 'Brings out the Crippen in all' about? Was that (old) Biddy Macleod in Polo?

Ay just love a good Jilly thread. You must pop into the boutique to tray on some of the lovely ge-owns I just shipped in from Paree. Do help yourselves to a vol-au-vent while you are here.
