Just that really, what one unsolved crime/mystery/news story do toy wish would be solved?

For me, its Madeleine McCann. It may well just be because of the age I am, its one of the first ones I remember really clearly as it happened.

What about you?

They are holding a press conference about the Texas killing fields tomorrow.

People on here might like the DNA Doe Project, which is a fascinating US project where they've extracted DNA from bodies that have been unidentified for years, often decades. They then use the DNA to find matches via Ancestry DNA submissions and try to work out who it is from there. They've had a fair few successes so far www.facebook.com/DNADoeProject/

Elisa Lam was clearly a psychotic episode and the suggestion she couldn't have got into the water tank unaided has been proved to be false.

Flannan Isle lighthouse keepers were probably swept out to sea while they were attempting to secure equipment.

Jack the Ripper was more likely than not to have been two killers rather than one person (and not acting together) but of the "canonical five" victims, it is highly likely that at least one, Elizabeth Stride, was killed by someone other than the person who probably killed Nichols, Chapman and Eddowes. There is a reasonable chance that Kelly was also killed by a different person.

So many of these.

I am quite fascinated by the Jeremy Bamber case. I am not at all convinced he is guilty.

I'm convinced that Bamber is guilty.

Thankssomuch · 15/04/2019 19:20

I’ve no doubt that Bamber is guilty from all that I’ve read (a lot) about that case.

SrSteveOskowski · 15/04/2019 19:52

I mentioned Jeremy Bamber earlier on in the thread. I've read and watched a lot of stuff about the case too and I'm not convinced he's guilty.

There was a story about a young teen in america
(I'm from the UK) being found dead in a rolled up gym mat. Kendrick Johnson he was called. Appears to have been a massive cover up. It's haunted me from a parents perspective having your son murdered and people covering it up including officials. Honestly hope they one day get the answers they need.

ConstanzaAndSalieri · 15/04/2019 20:18

When I was younger there was a story of a boy’s torso being found - I think in the Thames?

His limbs and neck had been chopped off. He was wearing a British t shirt, but had no other identifying features.

I don’t want to google; since becoming a mother I have a lower ability to deal with this stuff. But for a boy to disappear and not to be noticed... it’s terrible.

aliasname · 15/04/2019 20:23

samind Kendrick Johnson died of positional asphyxiation - it has been proved, the only ones who refuse to accept it are his parents. It is a weird case though.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 15/04/2019 20:27

@Constanza I remember that case. The torso is referred to as Adam (though he was never identified) and they believe he came from Nigeria a few days before he died and it was a ritual Voodoo killing.

Paulette Gebara Farah

4 year old child went missing in Mexico. Her body was found stuck inside the bed 9 days later. Police had been all over the room, the bed had been made and slept in Shock The mum had given tv interviews sitting on the bed...

Paulette had developmental delays and some people speculated that her parents found her too difficult and killed her. There was also suspicion of police corruption (not unheard of in Mexico) but no-one really knows...

Samind · 15/04/2019 21:06

@aliasname. There was a third autopsy done in November 2018 and it was concluded he died from blunt force trauma.

Samind · 15/04/2019 21:08

Your right its a weird case. Having his body defiled by the mortuary. The gym footage completely wiped at the time of his death. For over an hour. A full witness statement of his alleged murderers confession to someone of how he killed him. FBI father......

aliasname · 15/04/2019 21:18

Well there are plausible explanations for the mortuary ‘defilement’ and the cctv footage... but the new autopsy report opens up the question doesn’t it. Will have to keep an open mind on this.

Okay, another one:

'A suburban American Dyatlov Pass'. 5 young men leave their car for no reason and disappear. This mystery is heartbreaking, full of twists and turns, and many unanswered questions.

Four of the five young men were found deceased. One of the deceased was found in a cabin. That cabin contained food and enough fuel to last for months- yet the fuel was never used and the man found there had lost almost 100 lbs and died of exposure. Three of the men were found deceased in various areas outside the cabin.

There were some possible signs of the fifth man in another cabin nearby- yet his remains have never been found and he is presumed deceased with his body yet to be discovered. What drove these young men to abandon their still operable car? Why were they all found in different spots? Why wasn't the fuel in the cabin used and why didn't they all stay in that cabin since it had plenty of food and fuel?

Maura Murray for me. The story fascinates me as she is/was the same age as me and it's still a very much active case and there are Facebook groups, blogs, tv documentaries, podcasts and all sorts trying to get to the bottom of it. V interesting if anyone wants to fall down a virtual rabbit hole for a while!

There are so many possibilities for the reason for her disappearance which is what makes it so intriguing. A bit like MM.
