I put it on because I thought it woukd be entertaining but actually, its pretty boring and flat. (Not talking about the causes sections)

Mermaids is the organisation supporting kids who think they are trans - unfortunately, as one of DD's friends showed - they might not actually be trans, it just seems to be more socially acceptable/trendy than coming out as a lesbian...in Germany, no mermaids and so the parents let her be gender non-conforming for a year and she then decided she wasn't trans after all. She might have been an exception, and I do think that kids need support, no question - but breast-binding, puberty blockers and hormones have consequences (see Jazz Jennings). Transgender Trend give a counter argument/opposing view.
I think teachers should have the right to discuss LGBT issues in a supportive fashion - I certainly do not want the likes of fecking clause 28 making a return but I think impressionable kids should be given facts to make informed decisions and that everyone should be taught they don't have to fit into a box or have a label or wear x,y,z or like this colour or that any preferences means they are this gender or that gender. Don't be a sheep in other words, let your freak flag fly and like your body how it is, in all shapes and sizes.
Caveat: I do not suffer from gender dysphoria. I do think though that vulnerable kids, especially ASD kids, need protecting from any bandwagon/trend/ideology that - despite claiming gender to be fluid - seems intent on forcing kids to change bodies like it's biology picknmix as opposed to destroying body parts.
That would make me a terfy transphobe as opposed to an open-minded person, who embraces anyone. Sad

Barrie Humphries narrating Australian Natural history on BBC2 is much better

Comic relief needs a 5 year rest

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 15/03/2019 21:14

I, too, am waiting for 4 weddings but I am going to give up and watch Queer Eye if they don't blooming hurry up with it.

TalkinPaece · 15/03/2019 21:16

I also have a big problem with the single use consumerism of red noses and shite fancy dress

and the anti women, anti gay ethos of some of the 'charities' supported (Mermaids)

Hippopotas · 15/03/2019 21:17

Watched about 10 minutes of it a dit was cringe worthy dross.

00100001 · 15/03/2019 21:23

4 weddings is on now

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 15/03/2019 21:24

Oh dear, a bit try-hard and relying on Rowan Atkinson, who I never found funny. No duckface and RIP Charlotte Coleman.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/03/2019 21:26

Oh dear.....

MegaBat · 15/03/2019 21:27

Who are these two? I do know and can't think

Hepzibar · 15/03/2019 21:27

What a let down. Gutted

MegaBat · 15/03/2019 21:27

The two women getting married I mean

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 15/03/2019 21:28

That was a damb squib, no? And humour based on man-wife 'jokes' when it was a lesbian couple getting hitched Confused
Am off to Netflix. Night x

kenandbarbie · 15/03/2019 21:29

Damn missed it.

Ratatouille76 · 15/03/2019 21:29

That was proper shit. And yes who were those actresses.

Ratatouille76 · 15/03/2019 21:29

Kenandbarbie dont worry. It wasn't funny.

Barbarafromblackpool · 15/03/2019 21:30

That ham-tastic.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/03/2019 21:30

So much hype....it’s awful and unfunny. Lenny used to be spontaneous, but he’s wooden now. What’s happening

Barbarafromblackpool · 15/03/2019 21:30

One was Lily James

JennaRossetti · 15/03/2019 21:30

Very lazy. Richard Curtis loves to roll out the minorities to show how right on he is. Smacks of tokenism.

Barbarafromblackpool · 15/03/2019 21:31

*that was ham-tastic.

JennaRossetti · 15/03/2019 21:31

Lily James and Alicia Vikander.

Ratatouille76 · 15/03/2019 21:31

Lenny Henry has always been unfunny.

ChicCroissant · 15/03/2019 21:31

It's doing better than the last one, that was terrible!

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 15/03/2019 21:31

Lily James and Alicia Vikander

ChicCroissant · 15/03/2019 21:33

Just to clarify, my comments were about the show in general not four weddings and a funeral ...
