Does everyone have a vibrator??

bottleofredplease · 11/02/2019 11:15

I keep reading things about how we should or should not be open about dildos. Should they be in the supermarket or should we be open about them at home etc etc.
I don't have one, it seems like everyone does except me! I just don't think cold plastic is quite the same and my hands work fine Confused

This thread is a few years old. If you've found this page in search of vibrators that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best vibrators useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ 💐

Womaniser and bullet here. Don't agree they need to be on the shelf in Tesco/left around at home though, much happier buying online and stashing in my bedside table!

I'm not a bloke! Anyway, I only ever tried one in the 90s so may be they have come along since then. It was just a cold plastic thing that vibrates like a toothbrush. Didn't know vibrator and dildo were different things either Shock

We have quite a few, we have his and hers lock boxes.
Love my womaniser, took a while to get used to it but once I did it was a game changer. We use them together as well as solo.
I Don't care if supermarkets sell them, as long as the packaging and placement are appropriate- I don't want my DC to know about things like that just yet (which is why all ours are kept under lock and key). I will stick to buying online though.
I don't think many are made of cold plastic anymore op, most I've had have softer a covering which gets to body temp quite quickly, but each to their own.

A lot are made from silicon now. Cold hard plastic ones are either a thing of the past or found on dusty shelves in back street sex shops.

I've just got a simple bullet from Lovehoney - does the job very well and has 10 different speeds, was only about £7 Grin love it!

I used to till I read a thread on here about things found by family members after death. I threw it out together with my teenage diary the same day.

A wand, a satisfyer Pro 2, a bullet, a glass dildo, a strap on, a gspot vibe..... Probably more that I've forgotten.

I’ve got a couple of bullets but just tend to use them on my own to get the job done (usually because I can’t sleep)

My libido was on the floor until I got rid of my implant. Now I cannot keep my hands off dh. interesting to read this my libedo is crap and I’m having a whole range of pms symptoms, even though this is my 3rd one I think it might be time to call it day with it.

I prefer a dildo to a vibrator, vibe does nothing.

I was in Barcelona last summer and went to a vending machine in the bus station to try and find a bottle of water. One machine contained pet food, which seemed really random, then another contained condoms, lube and sex toys!!

I’m not shy or prudish, but I can’t imagine ever buying a dildo from a vending machine in the middle of a busy bus station!

I used to have a few, but I found that using them too often majorly desensitised me to any other form of contact, meaning I couldn't orgasm during sex which I have always been able to do pretty easily, so I gave up my habit. I still have them in a box on top of my wardrobe, bit of a weird thing to get rid of.

Well at least you can try to say that you need something for your pussy with a straight face.

I have quite a few although dont have much time to use them these days! I have a posh rechargeable one which is the best, good speeds and lots of different vibration patterns. It is medical grade silicon and really soft. I have one that plugs into the mains too but that it almost too much!

Haha that's true Beryl, I just don't want to spend my time on my death ed worrying about it.

Although now I think about it, it might be better than worrying about the alternative ShockGrin

I couldn't do anything for 40 minutes with a rabbit that I can do in 5 by my own hands Blush

I know there are a lot of different ones and maybe the right one is out there, but I haven't got endless money and the diy method works well - I am single though, I think they are a lot of fun as a relationship add -on.

I have a few vibrators and products to do before/with them. My spouse has more than a few dildos and a couple of vibrators with his own prefered products. We keep them in a closable shelf unit in our bedroom. I'm happy to discuss it with adults but not sure them being open in the home is a good idea.

While I'd like to see dental dams and protective gloves sold alongside condoms far more often, I don't really see the need or desire for sex toys to be sold in the supermarket or chemists. Plenty of us have them so it's not like they're that hard to buy.

It was bad/amusing enough being in a large Boots a few days ago and being in the section across from where the condoms and lube is sold to and having to deal with 6+ teen boys being really loud and bravado about it all, messing with things. Thankfully some of their friends came and hurried them on, but I felt bad for the staff who were going to have to check things after all that. I think in big stores, it probably won't be worth it and just more trouble for staff. However, headlines about this seem to come out pretty regularly and I've not noticed much difference so it seems more an attention grabber than any sort of actual change.

I have a nice selection but we don’t use them much. Got a fabulous dildo from Ann summers (normally hate them but this is goooooooood) but I seem to have lost it. Not worrying at all.

It's going to be like this all week on account of valentine's day and press needing fillers. I can see the headlines now "Racy Mumsnet users demand Tesco stock Sex Toys!"

What happened to the romance?
