really? Is this for real? She sent her dad a letter last August and he said she hasn't tried to contact her. He just gave the letter to the tabloids. If this is real he hasn't told the truth about anything.

What does her Dad do with the money to get through it so quickly I thought he lived in a cheap part of the world and lived very simply.

I don't think Meghan wrote the letter with publication in mind, but I think she was aware that it might end up in the papers, and so was careful how she chose her words.

I say this letter and the 'friends' story is a rather clumsy first attempt by her new ex DeXeu PR guy.

The letter is transparent and my money is on it being written recently and the Father paid off to be the fall guy as someone suggested upthread.

Any attempt to cast this in any other way than a PR stunt is very naive.

It's probably quite difficult to do calligraphy on a banana skin.

She did fancy writing when she went to that retirement home before Christmas. It's her thing.

Both her parents were declared bankrupt at different points. I think her Dad is pretty hard up, and rumoured to have a drinking problem too.

I think they are all operators to some extent, very aware of image and quite fame hungry. M must have know the letter would probably fall into the hands of the press.
Markle just doesn't seem to get it does he? He has accused Meghan of not being in touch at all since the wedding, clearly a blatant lie. He's a lying, greedy, selfish man. If M knew what he could be like, she hasn't been very sensible in the way she's handled things. An introduction to her husband to be at the very least would have been basic good sense. Some preparation for a massively stressful role in giving her away in front of the world's media . There are so many things which have been done badly, with no thought.
I think the Queen needs to ask all the Press to a meeting, and pull all the strings she can to stop reporting on this debacle, close it down, freeze Thomas and the evil stepsister out. Something surely could be done.
At the very least the Palace PR team are failing miserably to manage this situation on all fronts and should be sacked.

The Royal Family really do not have a handle on this yet. I am not sure there is much they can do though, twitter, foreign publications, the WWW how do they shut her family down?

Surely the Queen has some power with the Press Association?

I'm very curious about the relationship between Doria and Thomas. What attracted them to each other, if this is the way he is? What made them divorce? How has their relationship been since the divorce? amicable or bad? (obviously bad now)

Can I just say something obvious which is I don’t like any of this :( Literally how does this help any one on any side, it’s all tawdry and stupid. I don't have a low opinion of MM at all. I think she's streetwise and knew her dad would sell anything she sent him so she took the opportunity to set things straight.

People have short memories. The royal family have weathered far worse scandals than this - Charles and Camilla, the Tampax Tapes, Andrew's full frontal shots, Squidgygate, Fergie's toes, Diana's death - I'm not sure any of the Markles' antics compare to those!

Andrew full frontal, do not recall that one. The rest yes. What is different is the vitriol thrown at them now with the advent of the internet in its many forms. Once upon a time the media would have moderated the nuttier comments now they revel in them.

No it was Andrew and I remember seeing the shots back in the 90s when I lived in Australia. Perhaps they weren't published in the U.K.
