He's fine, apparently, but the car overturned. Nr Sandringham.

Oh dear, hope everyone involved is ok.

DoneAdulting · 17/01/2019 18:06

I can't believe a frail 97 year old is still driving tbh. Especially a Range Rover!

cheesywotnots · 17/01/2019 18:06

He is lucky, hope the other people involved are ok.

OnwardsAndUpwards10 · 17/01/2019 18:08

97 and behind the wheel? Crazy.

ManicUnicorn · 17/01/2019 18:08

Can't believe this was the main story on the 6pm news. He's walked away uninjured, bizarre.

ApolloandDaphne · 17/01/2019 18:08

BBC News didn't suggest he was actually driving the car, just that he was involved in an accident.

TheSpottedZebra · 17/01/2019 18:09

Yep, should have said - the other people are are OK, although treated for minor injuries.

We were posting at the same time OP, I just started a thread too.

TheSpottedZebra · 17/01/2019 18:11

Nicolas Witchell had his special black suit of mourning on.
But he jauntied it up with a navy tie.

OP posts:
TheSpottedZebra · 17/01/2019 18:13

Does he have a driving licence I wonder? Or is he too special / old en to not have needed to get one.

OP posts:
TheSpottedZebra · 17/01/2019 18:14

Old enough that was meant to say.

If the car overturned I don't think he'll be allowed to drive again! Glad no one is hurt, that could have been a different scenario

ApolloandDaphne · 17/01/2019 18:22

The updated bulletin says he was driving. I suspect he will be very shaken and probably won't want to drive any longer.

Sarahandduck18 · 17/01/2019 18:25

He should absolutely not be driving at that age! If he’s unfit for public service he’s unfit to drive

Those poor people in the other car who got injured.

gutrotweins · 17/01/2019 18:25

Hope the other people are ok. Haven't heard any mention of them.

NorthernRunner · 17/01/2019 18:27

I don’t think the queen and duke of Edinburgh are required to have a driving liscence are they? I’m pretty sure I’ve read that before.

MartaHallard · 17/01/2019 18:27

If he’s unfit for public service he’s unfit to drive

So no-one should be allowed to drive after they retire?

BIWI · 17/01/2019 18:28

Bugger me, why shouldn't I drive, just because I'm retiring soon? I'm not even 60 yet!

ManicUnicorn · 17/01/2019 18:28

'Concious but shocked and very shaken' now...

We have no idea how it happened and who, if anyone was at fault.

I think the queen doesn't need a driving licence but everyone else in the royal family does.

adaline · 17/01/2019 18:33

Anyone can have an accident - that's why they're called accidents!

One accident doesn't mean you're unfit to be behind the wheel of a car, does it?

rugbychick1 · 17/01/2019 18:33

What's the best value dongle to get for roaming in the UK. Home WiFi is with virgin, but don't really want to go with them. It's more for use when on holiday and out of the house.

ApolloandDaphne · 17/01/2019 18:35

@Rugbychick1 I think you need to start your own thread about this.

Mumberjack · 17/01/2019 18:39

Christ he’s lucky. Walking away from an overturned car!
This is awful but I bet Theresa May was hoping for some sort of distraction from her shit show
