He's fine, apparently, but the car overturned. Nr Sandringham.

Anyone else think that Princess Anne was rude today? I appreciate that she was in the same place as the reporters asking her the question however she has presumably telephoned this morning to see how her father is? A polite, "he's fine thanks" would have sufficed!

UrsulaPandress · 18/01/2019 17:18

Maybe he’s not fine.

peridito · 18/01/2019 17:29

I can't help wondering where he was driving to . Seems a pretty desolate spot and a long way from Sandringham .

Hope the others involved are ok ,nasty shock and a broken arm/wrist no fun .

peridito · 18/01/2019 17:34

panda I've just watched a video clip of Princess Anne where a reporter asks "any news on the Duke ? " and Anne replies "not since I've been here " .

which doesn't seem rude to me ,but maybe I've missed a bit

SouthWestmom · 18/01/2019 17:55

Not impressed by the barrister telling his version of blood on his hands/helping the duke. People just seem a bit tacky.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/01/2019 18:06

Someone asked the eyewitness if the duke was rude. And if he was courteous. Err he's just crashed his car. He'd be allowed to be rude!

BertrandRussell · 18/01/2019 19:17

“I can't help wondering where he was driving to .”
To see horses/look at some pheasants/inspect some woodland.....there are 100 things a landowner might be doing at this time of the year.

peridito · 18/01/2019 19:46

I guess ,but he was driving off the estate and onto a public road outside his land wasn't he ? And it just seems odd for such an elderly person to be seeing horses ,inspecting woodland so close to dusk .

Not having a pop Bertrand just curious ,not a life style I'm familiar with. I guess I'm just wondering what his lifestyle might be like .

peridito · 18/01/2019 19:50

Noeuf hearing that barrister on the radio he didn't sound tacky - he was saying he looked down at his hands and thought gosh that's HRH's blood .

And ,listening to his description there was no mention of anyone else in the Duke's car .It does sound as though he was lifted out without assistance from inside .Though I suppose if there were a protection officer they might have done a quick exit to check for other dangers/kidnappers etc ???

EdtheBear · 18/01/2019 19:53

pandaI've just watched a video clip of Princess Anne where a reporter asks "any news on the Duke ? " and Anne replies "not since I've been here "

My guess is she's answered the same question when she arrived at the venue and somebody else just asked.

gentlyscented · 18/01/2019 19:56

What baffled me is,where was he going? Where would he possibly be driving too 🤔 he can hardly nip to Tesco, pop to shop for a pint of milk or off to meet his pals for a coffee!

Surely they have drivers?
Have servants to pop out for them?

AlexaAmbidextra · 18/01/2019 19:56

I can't help wondering where he was driving to . Seems a pretty desolate spot and a long way from Sandringham

What a bizarre question. What, do you think he was off for a spot of dogging? It was the middle of the afternoon and about a 10 minute drive from Sandringham.

brizzledrizzle · 18/01/2019 20:00

Though I suppose if there were a protection officer they might have done a quick exit to check for other dangers/kidnappers etc ???

I doubt there is any such thing as a quick exit from a land/range rover that is on it's side after a crash.

AlexaAmbidextra · 18/01/2019 20:00

What baffled me is,where was he going?

Oh God, another one with no imagination. Baffled? Really? He runs the Sandringham estate. He could have been conducting some business or even popping out to see a friend. He is allowed out you know.

gentlyscented · 18/01/2019 20:04

@AlexaAmbidextra well I know if I was rich and royalty there's no way I'd be driving, not even to cross the road.
Not to mention he's age, 97 and still driving? Should be banned at 80 max!
Danger to Society 😠

Anapurna · 18/01/2019 20:33

An eyewitness comments about the Landrover

Mr Warne told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I saw it careering, tumbling across the road and ending up on the other side.
"It would take a massive force [to have done that]."

makingmiracles · 18/01/2019 20:36

Wow. Checked over then takes delivery of another Land Rover.
Sounds like he ain’t stopping driving anytime soon despite the crash.

peridito · 18/01/2019 20:49

Alexa why so worked up ? Have I committed some crime by posing the question ?

What seems bizarre is to suggest that I'm thinking he's off for a bit of dogging .Where did that come from ?

AlexaAmbidextra · 18/01/2019 21:28

Peridito. Not worked up at all. Just find it odd that people are questioning where he was going, close to home in the middle of the afternoon. Most of us go out don’t we? Why should the thought of the DOE doing the same seem strange?

peridito · 18/01/2019 22:20

I wasn't questioning where he was going ,I just wondered . I can imagine him pootling around on the actual estate but not on public roads

It does seem strange to me that someone in their late 90s goes out driving on their own . Especially if they are in a position where they don't need to .

You say Most of us go out don’t we? Why should the thought of the DOE doing the same seem strange? .Do you not think that, at the Duke's age and being in a position where he doesn't have to drive and can get help with a range of activities ,there's little point in comparing his actions to "most of us " ?

Laiste · 18/01/2019 22:53

that barrister on the radio he didn't sound tacky - he was saying he looked down at his hands and thought gosh that's HRH's blood

So he was hurt then?

Pandasarecute · 19/01/2019 16:26

So today he's driving a new Range Rover without a seatbelt. Unbelievable arrogance I feel. If he hadn't been wearing a seatbelt the other day he would certainly have had much more serious injuries.
