Please help me (so hungover)

Work Christmas lunch yesterday. Ended up a highly boozy affair. Got home about 1am. Threw up (tidily). Threw up again this morning and now I can’t get out of bed. Every time I sit or stand I want to be sick. My head is splitting.

I have two under-fours. This is my first night out in a long long time. DH took them out for Christmassy things this morning and I am gutted that I couldn’t be there. I just couldn’t. They are heading back now and I need to get up and help.

Please help. Someone out there must have a hangover cure.

Full fat coke and mc ds. Also find toast and ready salted crisps with a sugary drink helps. Eat little and often. Paracetamol for headache and you will need a nap in a couple of hours

BirdieInTheHand · 22/12/2018 13:14

If you're really so bad that the idea of getting up is too much you need ibuprofen as much water as you can manage and a full fat fizzy drink.

Then sleep for an hour and then up dressed and carbs.

You'll feel shit all day but at least you'll be up and about.

ScrambledSmegs · 22/12/2018 13:15

Strong tea with one sugar (even if you never have it) and a slice of toast with butter and marmite. Take paracetamol when you've managed half of that. Keep drinking tea till you feel more human.

Don't know why it works for me, but it does. All the caffeine! Screw water.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 22/12/2018 13:15

Oh god I can’t bear the sanctimonious people and their misplaced twatty smugness. DFO, dears.

It’s easily done. You forget that you’re a few years older, you’re more tired generally, you are not in the habit of drinking a lot so your body is not efficient at processing alcohol. You get merry and let loose a little. Big tucking deal.

And I don’t drink much in case people think I’m being personally defensive.

Lots and lots of water. Some painkillers. Something fatty, carby and full of protein. Bacon sandwich would be ideal.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 22/12/2018 13:17

*Fucking. Obviously Xmas Wink

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 13:17

@jq28 got one thanks. It involves drinking alcohol safely- and still having fun. :) no hangovers for me!😏

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 13:18

@twosoups1972
Well yes but you have to question whether it was worth a night out and feeling great for a few hours, against hours and hours of feeling shit

Exactly! Especially when you have kids.

Badcat666 · 22/12/2018 13:22

First naice lovely hot shower... then painkillers and some water... then Full fat coke... ...Carbs.. more carbs*... fav takeaway if you can handle it later.

basically spend the day in your jim jams... on sofa.. and rinse and repeat from to *.. avoid dairy (unless added to naice sweet lovely tea)

Use the kids as small food hunter gatherers "mummy needs crisps... get all the crisps we will eat them all and daddy can go get some more" :D

Yep.... you sound like a barrel of judgement as opposed to laughs with your first comment

ResistanceIsNecessary · 22/12/2018 13:24

Water, something salty (like crisps or chips), some carbs and sugar. Bananas are good for replacing potassium - I like a strawberry and banana smoothie.

missbattenburg · 22/12/2018 13:24

carbs and water - keep pushing both in until they stop coming back out again. Then sleep.

itssquidstella · 22/12/2018 13:26

@ihatehoney don't be a fun sponge. The OP deserves a night out occasionally and we've all accidentally overdone it!

ScreamingValenta · 22/12/2018 13:26

If you can face it, make up a nice fresh bed for tonight.

XmasHolly · 22/12/2018 13:27

Full fat coke, coffee, 2 ibuprofen and a long walk. The fresh air will do you wonders.

CrookedMe · 22/12/2018 13:28

The magazine I am reading in the hairdresser says ibuprofen and a glass of pineapple juice (something to do with enzymes) Grin

Pinkyponkcustard · 22/12/2018 13:29

Only 6 hours to bedtime op!

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 22/12/2018 13:31

The oxo works because it helps balance your electrolytes. Actually a very good idea.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 22/12/2018 13:32

I’d suggest you write today off but MASSIVELY make it up to DH when you can.

Take him out for a treat in between Xmas and NY and you arrange babysitting etc

If he likes cycling or something offer to take children ALL weekend so he can go mountain biking up Ben Nevis or something

Get him some fancy grooming experience at a trendy barber if that’s his scene

Can you tell I’ve been where you are? Thing is my baby was 12w old. I still shudder at the memory.

Solidarity. X

Punto1 · 22/12/2018 13:32

they reckon cholesterol, caffeine and sugar is the recipe. Therefore, as much of a fry as you can muster, a can of coke and you're good to go.

PavlovianLunge · 22/12/2018 13:33

Lots of water, and if you can face food, something salty and starchy - a bacon sandwich does wonders.

I’d try to minimise screen time, something about a hangover headache really makes my eyes sore and screen time makes it worse.

If all else fails, a small hair of the dog might help.

DeadBod · 22/12/2018 13:35

I'm feeling your pain OP, I'm struggling today as well. I've tried convincing DH that it's a bug but he's having none of it Grin

SlowNorris · 22/12/2018 13:36

Christ there are some real stiff creatures on here. Let’s just be thankful we won’t be bumping into them at the pub.

I don’t understand why you would have to ‘make it up to DH’ either. He’s spent the day parenting his children, no need for a reward.

Just sleep it off, OP. Then have a takeaway later Xmas Smile

thenorthernluce · 22/12/2018 13:37

Pint of water with a berroca and a sachet of dioralyte (rehydration powder), sipped very slowly. Then eat some toast and if that stays down, take a couple of ibuprofen.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 22/12/2018 13:37

I really don’t think she needs to be overly apologetic or massively make it up to her DH because he actually had to look after his own children on his own for one day. Hmm

BigSandyBalls2015 · 22/12/2018 13:37

Blimey anyone fancy a night out with ihatehoney!
