Please help me (so hungover)

Work Christmas lunch yesterday. Ended up a highly boozy affair. Got home about 1am. Threw up (tidily). Threw up again this morning and now I can’t get out of bed. Every time I sit or stand I want to be sick. My head is splitting.

I have two under-fours. This is my first night out in a long long time. DH took them out for Christmassy things this morning and I am gutted that I couldn’t be there. I just couldn’t. They are heading back now and I need to get up and help.

Please help. Someone out there must have a hangover cure.

Sturgeron travel sickness tablets are EPIC as a hangover treatment.

Hope you’re feeling better OP and hope you had a fab night last night

LonelyandTiredandLow · 22/12/2018 15:45

From the easy pasta thread i've discovered marmite pasta - large knobnof butter and teaspoon of marmite on cooked pasta with cheese. Its actually quite nice! I used to do supernoodles which seem to replace all salts and sugars but I tried marmite pasta and felt much better the other day after a few too many proseccos with friends the night before! Good luck OP.

I'm going to say it, I agree with @ihatehoney. Not so much the irresponsible aspect, her DH is competent presumably. But all the posters saying things like 'solidarity' and 'positive thinking'... she drank too much. This country (and others) have such a messed up attitude towards alcohol and it really shows on threads like this. I haven't been hungover or drunk in ten years, but amazingly, I don't need to do that to have fun!! I know I sound sanctimonious but when you don't really drink yourself the whole drinking culture seems so alien and inexplicable.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 22/12/2018 15:53

Ah the smug one hasn’t actually the faintest clue
Thought so

Celebelly · 22/12/2018 16:00

Sympathies OP! I actually gave up drinking about three years ago after a night out (and hangover) like yours. I couldn’t face drinking again for months and then just never really got the urge back!

When I was 20, I could drink several nights on the trot with no issues. In the last few years, hangovers last days! It’s such a wretched feeling too.

Just take it easy and get an early night!

Zwischenwasser · 22/12/2018 16:01

I'm 20 and barely drink. Too busy to go out!

Well then you know fuck all about the way your body completely changes in its ability to process alcohol as you age. Especially in women who have had children.

Most mums i know had at least one incidentwhere they were badly caught out, seemed to happen when their kid was around 2yo. For me it was compounded by having completely given up drinking for a couple of years, again which is pretty common I think.

QuilliamCakespeare · 22/12/2018 16:03

Full fat coke and toast with LOADS of butter.

Chippy tea tonight with pie and gravy.

Good luck. I have two small ones and can imagine your pain.

AuditAngel · 22/12/2018 16:05

I’m sure someone will berate me, but if you feel queasy with a hangover, Stugeron travel sickness pills are amazing

Ladytinselmuff · 22/12/2018 16:07

Got any dioralyte? Take a sachet of that and some neurofen.

Jb291 · 22/12/2018 16:08

Paracetamol with some fluids, preferably full fat coke and sip it. You need an antacid or something to settle your stomach. Toast and a banana. Keep drinking as much as possible but sip it. You need to rehydrate. If you're still being sick then sips of flat coke will help.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 22/12/2018 16:10

The question - OP was it worth the hangover?

My hangovers usually are Grin

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 22/12/2018 16:11

I always need a bacon sandwich, tea with sugar. I only have tea with sugar when I have a hangover. There’s always bacon in this house.

Flooffloof · 22/12/2018 16:16

I can also tell you absolutely right now that if the sexes were switched on this occasion then truly and honestly the MN hive mind would be calling for the OPs blood
Not at all true, if they had plans or firm commitments to go somewhere then yes we would call OP selfish and say it had to be made up somehow. If it was regularly happening yes that too is selfish.
There's nothing in the OP to suggest plans had to be changed. A man needs no medals for looking after his own children, especially for one day.

As for ihatehoney. Pahhahaha. That's so funny. No children yet but she will be a perfect mum. Hope you remember this thread when you have a child.

pallisers · 22/12/2018 16:20

I always read these threads because the description of the food is so wonderful - like food porn.

Ihatehoney I bet your children won't watch tv either - right?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 22/12/2018 16:24

I love the wilful misinterpretation of the most practical of suggestions.
Looks like I’ve stumbled onto AIBU.
Adios and good luck with the hangover OP x

dustarr73 · 22/12/2018 16:32

Full fat coke and a chinese takeaway is the cure.

Think your hangovers are bad at 30.Try 45 ,i had a whopper one last week.

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 16:33

@pallisers I'm sure they will. I just won't stick them in front of a screen constantly, my parents never did that to me.

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 16:35

@Flooffloof What I'm interested in is how so many people on here are suggesting a 20 year old knows nothing about childcare and parenting? I'm sure you're all a lovely lot to the teen mothers you meet. Get off your high horse. Excessive drinking is never the best decision, I'm simply stating I wouldn't do it if I had children to care for!

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 16:36

@Zwischenwasser I'm aware hangovers get worse with age- I'm not stupid. Your metabolism slows down therefor the ability to tolerate alcohol lessens. I'm not stupid.

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 16:39

Thank you! Binge drinking is such a problem now a days, what happened to a nice glass of wine or two with dinner? Now it's shots and other mixed shit people are shovelling in their bodies. I was just stating I wouldn't drink to excess knowing I had small children at home- whether or not I had a husband to help out!

It's sad so many people on here have berated me and said I'm no fun for not drinking loads!

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 16:41

@Reallybadidea I have, actually. I stated it was a bad idea to drink knowing you have small children to care for the next day! Read the whole thread.🙄

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 22/12/2018 16:43
Hmm
ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 16:43

@Reallybadidea also, it's unbelievable isn't it that there are SOME responsible 20 year olds out there that actually care about how they'll parent their children in the future. Don't discredit younger people's intelligence just because you're older.

I think about my actions and consequences. Even at 20.

ihatehoney · 22/12/2018 16:45

@pallisers I'm definitely not naive. I've been through so much in my life and learnt so much so far. Talk to another 20 year old and you might not get the same answer!

OlennasWimple · 22/12/2018 16:45

Full fat coke, something salty (like crisps) and something sweet (like a KitKat)

Hangovers are fine in your 20s, painful in your 30s and life threatening in your 40s
