Have you ever gone off a celebrity because of something they've done?

I used to really like Ewan McGregor until he had an affair.

Same with Robson Green in the 90s.

I loved Michael Moriarty (still do) but he's become a huge loony and an old soak.

Liked Ant McPartlin before the drink driving and infidelity.

Have you ever liked a celeb and then gone off them because of something they've said or done? Does it just prove that celebs are human like the rest of us?

Anyone who wears real fur- they can’t not know of the cruelty involved 🙁

OllyBJolly · 20/11/2018 18:31

Rowan Atkinson was sitting close by me in an airport lounge. Two children (about 10 and 8) went over to ask for his autograph. He yelled at them, and kept yelling at them. Everyone around was just so shocked . the kids were distraught. Yeah - I get we don't know what was going on with him, it was private time etc etc but that was deplorable behaviour. He was amiable Mr Bean up to that point.

On an airport theme, I never warmed to Johnny Vegas. DH and I were in Gatwick airport and Johnny Vegas was happily doing selfies and talking to people, giving autographs in the bar. He was wishing everybody happy holidays. You could see how much it meant to people.

VerbeenaBeeks · 20/11/2018 18:34

You never warmed to Johnny Vegas because he was happily doing selfies, chatting, giving autographs and wishing happy holidays? Well that's the strangest reason not to like someone, sounds lovely to me Smile

dontalltalkatonce · 20/11/2018 18:47

Jeremy Clarkson and that whole trio. Stuck up twats. Went on the piss after shooting, with the BBC paid for chopper waiting to ferry their delicate flowernesses back to their hotel, whereupon Jeremy punches the producer because the chef went home and they 'needed something hot' to eat. Too bad no one through a cup of coffee at his face.

3luckystars · 20/11/2018 18:50

I used to like Gordon Ramsey. (I was a huge fan) when I saw the woman they said he had the affair with I couldn't believe it.
I was dumbfounded. I don't like him now any more.

dontalltalkatonce · 20/11/2018 18:52

Went off Gordon when he starting pushing his daughter on everyone as a 'chef'. Sick of such ridiculous nepotism.

OllyBJolly · 20/11/2018 18:59

You never warmed to Johnny Vegas

I'm shite at communication. That's why I'm not a celebrity!

I meant before I saw him at Gatwick! After that I enjoyed seeing him - although he's not around much now?

VerbeenaBeeks · 20/11/2018 19:01

Ah right, that makes more sense lol Grin

Moononthehill28 · 20/11/2018 19:02

I can vouch for Johnny Vegas too. A relative met him in a bar with some friends and he was absolutely lovely. They spent the evening chatting and having a great laugh. Johnny was lovely- totally unpretentious and he wanted to keep in touch.

BathFullOfEels · 20/11/2018 19:08

I met Jonny Vegas years ago when he was filming in my hometown. This is an area of the country that very rarely gets famous people and practically my whole school hung around watching filming. He was absolutely lovely, chatted to all of us for ages and was just a really nice, sweet guy. Vince Vaugn was also in the film and not particularly famous at the time. He didn’t chat to anyone afterwards and not only wouldn’t sign anything for the kids asking (which is probably fair enough if he’s been filming all day) he completely ignored us, not a wave or a hi and there were about 100 kids right in front of him.

CheeseTheDay · 20/11/2018 19:18

Not a celebrity as such, as he's long deceased, but my love for Roald Dahl was wiped out when I learnt that he once said...

There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity, maybe it's a kind of lack of generosity towards non-Jews. I mean there is always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere; even a stinker like Hitler didn't just pick on them for no reason."

C*nt.

My children have not been allowed to read his books, because of this.

BlancheM · 20/11/2018 19:18

Yes Johnny Vegas is so friendly and genuine. A lovely man and very erudite

TeddyIsaHe · 20/11/2018 19:19

I really want to meet Johnny Vegas now!

Mari50 · 20/11/2018 19:29

Elisabeth Moss - Scientologist
Ewan mcgregor- middle aged cliche leaving his wife for lookalike 15 years younger.
Kurt cobain- montage of heck wasn’t a good portrayal
Shaun Ryder-was a huge happy Monday’s fan and I kind of assumed he was bit of a junkie arse but his autobiography just made me feel absolutely filthy.
Bill Cosby.

Loonoon · 20/11/2018 19:47

I don’t dislike people because they are Scientologists (see comments about Eliz. Moss and Tom Cruise). Having read about it I can see that it’s a very enticing ideology, that if you work hard and do expensive stuff and emotionally demanding ‘audits’ ‘courses’ you will achieve happiness and enlightenment. I do feel sorry for them because they are victims of an elaborate and expensive con and I doubt their critical thinking skills. Tom Cruise seems like a total arse so doubting him is easy but it’s harder with Elizabeth who (like Kirsty Allie on CBB a couple of months ago) seems like a smart woman and all round good egg.

EdWinchester · 20/11/2018 19:51

I have aways thought David Beckham is a knob because of Rebecca Loos story. But then also thought Victoria a loser for sticking with him.

Mustangwally · 20/11/2018 20:05

Ihatethecold I could quite happily listen to you! Love a gossip!!

tobee · 20/11/2018 20:26
  1. anyone cheats on/leaves their partner
  2. anyone who votes Tory

More recently

  1. anyone who voted Brexit
  2. anyone who throws women under the bus
KevinTheYuccaPlant · 20/11/2018 20:44

To stick up slightly for Elisabeth Moss here - I have a journalist friend who's interviewed her several times and she gets the impression that EM is not really into Scientology, but because she is the daughter of two Scientologists and was brought up in it, to speak out and criticise it is basically to criticise her parents and the whole of the way she was raised. So she pays lip service to it and toes the line enough that she isn't cut off from her parents, but isn't a devotee in the way that Cruise, Travolta etc. are.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/11/2018 21:30

Sandi Toksvig. I loved her until I had to work with her. She’s horrible.

Really? Oh, bollox!

ElliePhillips · 20/11/2018 21:41

I literally opened this thread just to reply Ewan McGreggor but I see that OP beat me to it. We are kindred spirits. Ewan is dead to me now.

DontScareOscarPistorius · 20/11/2018 22:07

You buggers have ruined so many crushes of mine in one thread :(

Shaun Ryder? I would expect his biography to be very grubby!

Charley50 · 20/11/2018 22:24

Or his autobiography..
