Have you ever gone off a celebrity because of something they've done?

I used to really like Ewan McGregor until he had an affair.

Same with Robson Green in the 90s.

I loved Michael Moriarty (still do) but he's become a huge loony and an old soak.

Liked Ant McPartlin before the drink driving and infidelity.

Have you ever liked a celeb and then gone off them because of something they've said or done? Does it just prove that celebs are human like the rest of us?

I can't stand Gazza but there's very little detail been released.

Blueberryhill123 · 20/11/2018 07:33

I used to love John Lennon's 'imagine' song (all about peace) until I read he was a wife beater and shit father.

It said on the news 'assault by touching'. Presumably for it to get to the stage of prosecuting him there must have been witnesses?

saganorenscarandcoat · 20/11/2018 08:11

Joe and Zoe Sugg especially her after that advent calendar shite last year.

RedDwarves · 20/11/2018 08:15

Oh yes, John Lennon was a prime piece of shit, but it's overlooked by just about everyone.

Shampaincharly · 20/11/2018 08:25

20 year gap for Denzel .
Perhaps the role REALLY REALLY called for it .

RoyalChocolat · 20/11/2018 08:46

My teen crush was Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers singer).

A few years ago I read his autobiography. Most of it was about his various sexual encounters (some of them quite disturbing). Then, near the end of the book, he mentions a woman who would not sleep with him immediatly, and he writes something like "because who would fall in love with a woman who has sex on the first night?"

I went off him in about half a second.

cricketmum84 · 20/11/2018 09:02

Tom cruise - loved him until the Oprah sofa incident and then gradually watched him get odder and odder.

Gwyneth Paltrow - loved her early films but HATE the whole "lifestyle guru" crap.

Jonny Depp - this just makes me sad, I wanted to marry him!

Jonathon Ross - anyone who still likes him just watch one episode of him on celeb juice. He is a foul mouthed disgusting creature.

MamaLazarou
I was mad about Anna Faris until I found out that she pronounces her name as 'AHH-na' and haven't been able to look at her the same way since. Just say Anna FGS

Grin Grin Grin

Is this the same one where he invented the Mullet too Grin My DH was really disappointed after reading this - he loves RHCP but AK came across as a complete bellend.

Serena Williams. Thought she was an amazing role model until the US Open this year. Her behaviour was disgusting- she gets penalised for outright cheating, undermining the integrity of the umpire and racket abuse then has the audacity to bleat about sexism rather than apologise. She is an appalling role model.

She's also a rape apologist. Yet, most seem happy to overlook this for some reason.

RoyalChocolat · 20/11/2018 10:26

StorminaBcup I can't remember the part about the mullet (and I got rid of the book).
He is supposed to have written it (I suppose he read it at least) - how could he not realised he came across as a self-absorbed prick?
The bits where he glossed over his bullying John Frusciante made me really angry too.

Umbongointhejungle · 20/11/2018 10:30

Bill Crosby broke my heart. He was such a cool dad 😢

Clawdy · 20/11/2018 11:10

Paul Gascoigne says he "respects all women ". This from the man who head butted his wife and broke her arm.

AdamNichol · 20/11/2018 11:37

Browsed thru this one, but not sure I found what Sean Bean has done??

There's a custom motorcycle maker in the US called Jesse James. He was married to Sandra Bullock for a while. He cheated on her, which wasn't exactly out of character for him. But before that, he'd revealed on one of his shows that he'd taken an old clunker bike that took all the workhorse abuse and given it a brief makeover, when it didn't sell, he doubled the price and offloaded to a more-money-than-sense type...but essentially he was grinning about how he' ripped someone off.
There was another bike customiser called Billy Lane who had some awesome innovations, then got jail time for riding whilst drunk.

Amazing contrasts sometimes. I grew up in the 90s watching Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls basketball team. Air Jordan Nikes were the biggest of big things, until the whole Naomi Klein thing broke. Jordan never really did much to address that, despite being the poster child for highly paid celeb endorsements. In later years, he sank his money into a motorcycle racing team, and later the Charlotte Hornets basketball team. By contrast, the only real contender to Jordan's Greatest of All Time basketball accolade is a guy called Lebron James. James built a school with his money. A whole fucking school, with a foundation to fund it ad-infinitum for under-privilaged kids.

viques · 20/11/2018 11:50

Aung San Suu Kyi. I spent years extolling her in schools as a woman of impeccable credibility, she has sadly turned out to have feet of clay. I will never forgive her.

Sean Penn on the other hand.... I sneered at him for marrying Madonna and avoided his films for years, but have realised that he is a pretty good actor and am enjoying catching up on his catalogue.

Buddywoo · 20/11/2018 12:07

Have to say this in Johnny Depp's favour. A few years ago my granddaughter was being treated at GOSH at the same time as his daughter. He dressed up in his Pirates of the Carribean outfit and came round to see all the children. When his daughter was discharged he gave them a cheque for a MILLION pounds.

RiverTam · 20/11/2018 12:12

Buddy a friend of mine was visited by Jimmy Saville when he was at a very low ebb at Stoke Manderville - friend was an adult and Jimmy Saville was an icon of his childhood and it perked him up no end (he was stashing painkillers in his mattress at this point).

The fact that Jimmy Saville did some good cannot negate the evil he did. Now, I'm not saying that Johnny Depp is on a par with Saville but you shouldn't allow slebs to buy their way out of your bad books, IMO.

LuckyDiamond · 20/11/2018 12:40

Bad bastards are often also masters of the grand charitable gesture.

differentnameforthis · 20/11/2018 12:44

Bad bastards are often also masters of the grand charitable gesture. Yup, exactly how Mr Abusive-behind-doors is Mr Charming-in-public.

BathFullOfEels · 20/11/2018 12:47

I’d forgotten about Anthony Kiedis. I used to idolise him as a teenager and loved RHCP. Then all their music for the last decade has been absolute shite and he’s turned into (or probably always was) a complete nut job.

There was Sinead O’ Connor saying in an interview that he was a complete tool in the 80’s. Then he tried to sue the makers of the TV show Californication as he decided he’d thought up that word (I think in court they found references to it about 100 years old). Then in his book he tells an anecdote about how a groupie he was shagging told him she was only 14. He then decided to shag her one last time before calling her dad.

stabbypokey · 20/11/2018 13:00

My mum and I both went off Supervet when they showed the episode where his mum visited the practice. She was wearing a ridiculous hat and prided herself in her eccentricity and he was overly obsequious. We both thought ‘mummy’s boy’. Went right off him.

Sebastian Coe, our family turned agin him when he punched the air angrily and shouted at the crowd when he won an important race.

Also, my mum couldn’t look at Freddy Mercury again after the I want to break free video 😁

treaclesoda · 20/11/2018 13:07

I used to like RHCP but Anthony Keidis always struck me as very seedy, so I wasn't surprised when I first read all those things about him. Although I'm sure I also read that his father paid for him to visit a prostitute when he was 13 so what hope did he have really?

TeddyIsaHe · 20/11/2018 13:11

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall - loved him until I read on here that he had supremely weird habits regarding wanking into women’s hair whilst they slept.

Caroline Flack - she had Sunday lunch in a restaurant I worked at and was just the most awful woman I think I’ve ever met.

BlancheM · 20/11/2018 13:20

Teddy I'm intrigued, I want to hear more about CF being a CF!

HFW wanks into sleeping women's hair?! Wtf
