How many sausages make a meal?

I think I have a problem with my weight due to portions. So 6 pack of supermarket sausages (you know the ones with all the different flavours) with new potatoes, green beans, carrots and mini corn on the cob. How many sausages would you eat?

Oh, I read that you had the whole pack with veg and potatoes and thought, yes that is rather a lot and you do need to reduce portions sizes, but now see that you had 2.5, which is fine obviously.

In our house, I'd probably have 2 and DP would have 4, both with mash and veg and I'd have to fess up on here to penis portions, despite the splitting of the pack being agreeable to both of us.

Sometimes if we have an inconvenient number of sausages (these are often on offer at 2 for £5 or whatever) the spares just get saved for breakfast or put in the freezer until there are other spare sausages, or they can go in a casserole etc.

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/10/2018 09:06

I would eat a couple, same for my teen girls and teen boy would hoover up an entire pack, go round asking "are you going to eat that?" and then ask if there is seconds :o

:o:o

I howling at the idea of inconvenient...... sausages

FourteenCows · 23/10/2018 09:17

I buy the Tesco low fat ones (they are so nice!) so I would have 4, as they’re only 75 cals each. I would have two if having a proper sausage as they’re double the cals

Deadringer · 23/10/2018 09:49

4 for me, but with mash only, no veg.

snowone · 23/10/2018 10:36

2 for me, 3 for DH and 1 for DD

HollySwift · 23/10/2018 10:42

2, but possibly 3 if I’d missed lunch.

KPjoenix · 23/10/2018 10:58

2-3 for me. DH will eat 5-6. DD(2) will eat two but would eat more if I let her. DS (6) will eat 2-3. DSD (11) will eat 2. DSS (15) will eat 1.

Saladd0dger · 23/10/2018 11:00

I’d just eat the whole pack and not bother with the extras. I’m a pig tho

PoesyCherish · 23/10/2018 11:02

We always buy a pack of 8. If just DP and I, we will have 2 each and save the remaining 4 for the next night. If DSD (6) is with us, DSD and I have 2 each and DP will have 3/4 (he'll have 3 with dinner but then wander back into the kitchen and eat the remaining one.

Oh and we're both on diets and managing to lose weight because sausages are an occasional food not a daily / weekly occurrence.

Deadringer · 23/10/2018 12:02

So most people would only eat two, no wonder I'm fat!

TheWiseWomansFear · 23/10/2018 12:04

I'd have 3 but I'm greedy, mum would have 2

MollyHuaCha · 23/10/2018 12:05

My DS would eat 6 in a sandwich.

spanishwife · 23/10/2018 12:49

when people eat less move more... it's eat less carbs/processed food (e.g. sausages) and eat more veg instead

spanishwife · 23/10/2018 12:50

I would definitely just eat 2 because I'm 5ft 3 and not very active, so that fits into the kind of meal sizes/calories I eat. My tall slim sporty husband would eat the other 4.

PuppyMonkey · 23/10/2018 12:59

I might need to change my user name to Inconvenient Sausage. Grin

I once went to a strange chip shop in Whitby and tried to get just one sausage with chips. The server said all adult meals had to have two sausages, you could only have one sausage if you were a child. We pleaded with them but they wouldn’t have it, we had to accept and pay for two sausages as adults.Hmm

Conclusive proof, there, I’m sure we can all agree.Grin

bumblebee39 · 23/10/2018 13:04

2 per person. Used to be 3. More if it's chipolatas obviously...

Xenadog · 23/10/2018 13:09

DD 4 eats 1, I have 2 and DP eats 3. I whole pack does us one meal.

SilverySurfer · 23/10/2018 14:38

I only eat chipolatas (97% meat) and eat two, preferably toad in the hole, mash, variety of vegetables - yum.

waxy1 · 23/10/2018 16:49

I’m wondering if this thread is really about real sausages...

PaintingOwls · 23/10/2018 16:50

Two. Three if I had missed the previous meal.

BarbedBloom · 23/10/2018 17:30

I would probably eat 3. I rarely eat lunch so do tend to have a larger dinner
