How many sausages make a meal?

Twigwonderkid · 22/10/2018 19:17

I think I have a problem with my weight due to portions. So 6 pack of supermarket sausages (you know the ones with all the different flavours) with new potatoes, green beans, carrots and mini corn on the cob. How many sausages would you eat?

I don't remember the sausage thread.
I do remember a fish finger thread becoming very heated however.

gingercat02 · 22/10/2018 20:09

I would have 3, so would ds 10. DH would have 5 as many as I allow him. We would have them with chips or mash and beans or peas with onion gravy. Def not diet food in our house ☺

Bluelonerose · 22/10/2018 20:12

3 for adults and 15 year old ds1
2 for dd 14 and ds2 8 although both will probably leave a sausage between them (Dd won't eat the ends & ds2 doesn't eat the skinConfused)

I'd have 2 or 3, depending. I'd give dp 3 or 4.

If a 6 pack and all those other sides I'd have 3 and give him 3 but the dog would probably end up with 1 from either of us depending on how hungry we were. Sometimes she gets none.

Enb76 · 22/10/2018 20:28

3 and then the cold ones I meant to save for lunch tomorrow.

DaphneFanshaw · 22/10/2018 20:31

I have 2 or 3, mostly 3 though.
I didn't realise sausages were up there in MN folklore along with toilet brushes and showering habits.

BonnieF · 22/10/2018 20:34

Sausages aren’t that unhealthy, as long as you buy good quality ones and grill them. I watched a ‘food factory’ show recently about Heck sausages from Yorkshire. The ingredients were literally huge hunks of lean British pork shoulder and seasoning. No rubbish whatsoever.

I’d have 2, then snaffle a cheeky cold one later Grin.

safariboot · 22/10/2018 20:40

To be clear, I'd consider myself piggy if I had 4. And think that really I should have had less sausages and more carbs and veg.

But I don't give a flying fig what someone else wants to eat.

Nor do I give a flying fig that I "should" have said "fewer" not "less".

maddiemookins16mum · 22/10/2018 20:43

Possibly ‘only’ two with a load of potatoes/veg, 3 if just beans/egg and a slice of toast. When I do sausage casserole with a pack of 6 naice sausages, it feeds me, DP and 14 year old DD.

HOWEVER, I flippin love sausages and could eat a whole pack.

deathisforever · 22/10/2018 20:48

I eat Quorn sausages - will have 3 if it doesn't have to stretch to lunches the next day but 2 if we're boxing up leftovers. There's 8 in a bag.

AdultHumanFemale · 22/10/2018 20:52

We're cutting down on meat, so share a packet of 6 between 4, DCs getting first refusal on the 5th and 6th sausage. It is nice to really appreciate a single sausage!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 22/10/2018 21:15

3 thin sausages, wrapped in lean bacon was my dinner today with veg and bubble and squeak.

SushiMonster · 22/10/2018 21:21

2-3 depending how many potatoes and veg. Also if there are just 2 of us I would probably cook all 6 but I’d also make the pack of 6 do for 3 people.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 22/10/2018 21:22

Loadsa veg, spot of mash and gravy.

waxy1 · 23/10/2018 06:40

Napssavelives · 23/10/2018 06:41

3, 2 isn’t enough!

LightastheBreeze · 23/10/2018 06:43

As they are usually 6 packs we buy I have 2 which is plenty for me but piggy DH will have the rest (4) as he always says we may as well cook them all.

DumptonPark · 23/10/2018 06:47

I'd have 2 with loads of veg. No potatoes.
I'm currently trying to lose weight and if I'm still hungry after dinner I have a big mug of tea which usually helps.
If you're breastfeeding you're probably thirsty.

LittleBookofCalm · 23/10/2018 06:52

two per person, if I am cooking.

LittleBookofCalm · 23/10/2018 06:54

I think because sausages come in packs of 8, probably for a family of 4, that equals 2 per person.

Outfoxed · 23/10/2018 06:58

When I lived alone it was all down to how many came in a pack, what my plans were for the rest, and the use by date. So a portion could be 2-4 depending on many factors.
Now it’s pretty normally 2 for me and 4 for DH, cos sausages in Sweden are weird and I don’t have any desire for more than two..

LaDameAuxLicornes · 23/10/2018 07:32

Two. I thought that was pretty standard.

When I was growing up my mother would split a pack of 6 between however many people were in for dinner, which often meant 1 and a half per person. That felt a bit mean, though I understand why she did it. It would be much more convenient if sausages were sold loose instead of pre-packaged!

HarrySnotter · 23/10/2018 07:46

2 for me and DD (though sometimes she'll have 3), 3 each for DH and DS (14).

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 23/10/2018 07:47

Two quorn sausages

Camomila · 23/10/2018 07:56

DS has 1
I have 2
DH has 3 (sometimes saves sausage 3 for a sandwich the next day)

My favourite but is the veg though...I like buttery grean beans or tendersteam brocolli with it.
