Just out of interest. Mine was £100.

  1. It was handmade to my design, so cost more. My mother told us she wanted to buy it for me, but I got to the dressmaker first, paid her half, and got her to tell my mother it was 650. I couldn’t let her pay all that.

£150 from coast in 2005

LesLavandes · 14/10/2018 18:04

About £1000 26 years ago. Now I want to get rid of it. It's big, ivory silk. Been cleaned and packaged in a large box. Any ideas what I can do with it? Really to big a box for posting

£400 in 1992. My dad paid and I am horrified that I let him spend so much.

isittheholidaysyet · 14/10/2018 18:06

£90 on fabric in 2002.
Made by my mother.
Beautiful.

I really don't know as mum had it made but I think it was a cople of hundred (jesus, 25 years ago)

Aprilislonggone · 14/10/2018 18:10

Hired the first one.
Bought the second one for £180-left it in the dry cleaners.
Third one a grand-gave it to Air Ambulance charity.
Kept forth one - hangs on outside of the wardrobe to remind me got a good un at last!!

TheHobbitMum · 14/10/2018 18:11

I had a Maggie Sotterro (SP?) that cost £1450, huge waste of money!

FekkoTheLawyer · 14/10/2018 18:12

😳 my first car was £900!

Alwayswithalacrity · 14/10/2018 18:12

PortiaCastis · 14/10/2018 18:17

Nothing, my Grandmother made it for me in 1999

Kezzie200 · 14/10/2018 18:25

£85 in 1992. All on silk material and a Simplicity Wedding pattern, as it was made by my husbands Aunt.

She heard I was looking for a suit to wear in a shop and called to say, if I wanted a wedding dress, she would love to make mine.

verite · 14/10/2018 18:27

£1700. Was total opposite of what i expected to choose but just made me feel special.

wildewillow · 14/10/2018 18:30

I bought a sample Jenny Packham from Preloved for £400. I plan on shortening and dying it to wear to every single wedding I go to for the rest of my life (if it still fits!)

madcatladyforever · 14/10/2018 18:31

Nothing, i made it myself from material I already had.

sadnessin · 14/10/2018 18:31

🙈 £6500

Madbengalmum · 14/10/2018 18:34

£7500 about 15 years ago.

AtticaRose · 14/10/2018 18:35

£400 (bought in 2017) - bespoke design and made to measure by a dressmaker. All silk! One of the loveliest items of clothing I've ever owned.

barbiegrl · 14/10/2018 18:49

400 pounds bespoke-the best money I spent on my wedding day

dreamyflower · 14/10/2018 18:50

£700. Was reduced from. £1,500.

ineedmoresleepnow · 14/10/2018 18:51

£2000 then £200 for alterations. Bought it a month after giving birth and they refused to buy a smaller size so it had to be taken in four sizes

meow1989 · 14/10/2018 18:53

£700 3 years ago plus alterations, veil was £25 from the seamstress. Loved my dress and have been known to put it on again... although not for a couple of years and certainly not since ds (can't believe what a skinny Minnie I was when I got married, I'm not huge now!)
