'Normal' things that you find really creepy

When I look out of my window at the flat opposite I can see straight through their living room to a window which lets light in from their garden. When it's sunset I find this image really unsettling and eery.

I also get really creeped out by those pin and string pictures that were popular in the 70's:

What odd things spook you?

Oh and woodland. I'm desperate to be the outdoorsy nature type but if I even look at wooded areas from the window of a car i get freaked out.

SkyWasFullOfWickedWitches · 22/10/2014 19:42

Rubber gloves. Ok at the hairdresser but Marigolds freak me out

TrisisFour · 22/10/2014 19:42

I'm going to have nightmares of frozen dough now...

stubbornstains · 22/10/2014 19:42

bettyfocker and ginnycreeper, were you both glued to the MH370 footage with horrified fascination?

(I was, but down to a fear of flying, which I think counts as completely normal for the purposes of this thread).

Nandocushion · 22/10/2014 19:44

Houseplants. Ugh.

MozzchopsThirty · 22/10/2014 19:44

Curtains that are not quite closed
Open wardrobe doors at night
Lace or velvet particularly on children
Lone hairs, especially dark ones

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 19:44

Hard, cold, shiny floors in Hospital Wards, especially Maternity suites.

The patient is in a nice soft, warm, comforting bed and yet they are surrounded by the cold, hard floor - that could hurt them if they were to fall out/off of the bed or god forbid, drop the baby

It bothers me Sad

Mrsjayy · 22/10/2014 19:44

Men in ankle boots and men in shoes with pointy toes creeps me out

WerewolfBarMitzvah · 22/10/2014 19:46

Wow this is interesting!
ginny, I'm sorry but I laughed at cows haunches and whoever said oranges before!
I can't bear slugs but they are creepy fuckers.
Also this clown bastard in Portsmouth.

loaderloader · 22/10/2014 19:46

Betty Gravity must have been a very short film

Mrsjayy · 22/10/2014 19:49

I am terrified of slugs big eff off spiders mehh but slugs make me weep urgh

wooooosualsuspect · 22/10/2014 19:49

WeareGroot, There is a development like that near to me. We passed it today in the car and I said to DP 'how could you live in one of those new builds next to that spooky old Victorian Asylum all boarded up like that'

Makes me shudder every time I pass it.

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 19:49

Now I have to go out to my car, in the dark.

and come back to an empty house. I think I will leave every light on wuss that I am

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 19:50

Mrsjayy, I hate slugs as well and will not go out walking on the pavements after dark if it's been raining, as that's when they all come out - after the rain.
And if I have to, I make sure I'm wearing something with really thick soles.

vivlevyhandbagqueen · 22/10/2014 19:50

Pylons and radio masts
Toilets with high cisterns- the ones where you pull the chain.
Swimming pool drains
Safety pins- the last one completely freaks me and I have no earthly idea why.

Quenna · 22/10/2014 19:51

Mime artists.
Bagpipe music or penny whistle type sounds. (With bag pipes it's the spooky droning sound underneath)
Dolls. Dolls' houses especially the ones that adults do and take super-seriously.
People with a bit of spit permanently stuck in the corner of their lips.
People who never clean their specs so you look in on them through a load of greasy dandruff type specks.

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 19:54

I have to have the bedroom door open at night, if it's closed (even accidentally by someone else) I ALWAYS end up having a nightmare Blush

wooooosualsuspect · 22/10/2014 19:54

Oh yes, Pylons

And old water towers.

Iwantmyparcel · 22/10/2014 19:55

I have a weird and rude one. Sorry if TMI but well..

You know how when a guy is really raised his cock twitches ? Well that inside me. I hate hate hate it, freaks me right out. The first time it happened I shrieked and said "what the fuck was that ?!?! Make it stop" oops.

YourMaWithCurseBackOfMyHearse · 22/10/2014 19:56

I have more.

Adults in fancy dress. (Along the lines of dressing like a bear or soft toy).
Men with long beautiful hair. Don't mind scruffy unkempt but sexy shaggy hair.
People talking about dreams or folk I don't know. Actually not creepy just dull.

Iwantmyparcel · 22/10/2014 19:56

Really aroused sorry !!!

iwantgin · 22/10/2014 19:57

Long toe nails.

I saw a woman just this week in sandals. With long, painted toe-nails. So they weren't long as she couldn't reach them, they were neatly painted.

I think lolng nails in general. Especially long, dirty nails. And on men.

Pyjamaramadrama · 22/10/2014 19:58

Swimming pools with dark blue tiles, the water looks so dark and scary.

iwantgin · 22/10/2014 19:59

Another is that I don't like to walk through piles of fallen leaves. Who knows what is under there? Unfortunately at the moment I have to take my life in my hands and run in the road, as the pavement is covered.

Don't like walking on grass much either.

I am odd.

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 19:59

Swimming in a swimming pool, at night, on your own.
Especially when there's a big drain down the deep end.
