'Normal' things that you find really creepy

When I look out of my window at the flat opposite I can see straight through their living room to a window which lets light in from their garden. When it's sunset I find this image really unsettling and eery.

I also get really creeped out by those pin and string pictures that were popular in the 70's:

What odd things spook you?

And street entertainers that stand like statues. I have to skirt past them reeeeaaally quickly. Once I remarked to my friend as we walked past one that they really creeped me out and when I looked at him, he was staring at me beckoning me with his long eery finger. Still makes me shiver when I think about it. Shock

Empty "not in service" buses at night with all the internal lights on - they look like ghost buses!
Baked beans, any type of eye-related gore.
Also I cannot use the loo in the dark, not even my own loo.

PercyHorse · 22/10/2014 18:36

Women with really long hair (down to their waist.)

soaccidentprone · 22/10/2014 18:37

Primadonnagirl · 22/10/2014 18:38

My list is very strange
Watching people brush their teeth esp on TV
People tucking the tag down the back of my jumper
Rooms with doors open
Can't eat lollies cos of the wooden stick or use wooden chip shop forks
Puppets
Birds..not scared of them they just repulse me

guinnessgirl · 22/10/2014 18:40

ligaments popping out on the neck when someone pulls a face or grimaces. shudders

talking about joints. Any mention of dislocations, popping or cracking knuckles, or of knee/elbow operations makes me feel actually genuinely nauseous Envy

Aladyinsane · 22/10/2014 18:41

Looking into my daughters cotbed at night... I'm afraid that I'll find she's been taken by the Goblin King!

People knocking on the front room window instead of the door. Why? Why would you do that?! It freaks me out every time and feels a bit intrusive.

VampiresLoveNECKtarines · 22/10/2014 18:44

Drinking out of jam jars!!!

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 18:46

Yes to Looking back at your empty home, at night, when all the lights are off. It looks sinister. The windows are eye-like.

But, as soon as you are inside and the lights are on, the atmosphere warms up.

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 18:48

Cooked leg of-lamb resting on a plate.

It could be leg-of-anything I watch too much tv

AvonCallingBarksdale · 22/10/2014 18:49

Eyebrows. Yuck.

Secretblackandmidnighthag · 22/10/2014 18:49

Goldfish

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 18:50

Hotel corridors and hotel rooms.

I won't be in one on my own.

QuillPen · 22/10/2014 18:51

Chewing gum.

People chewing/ chews up paper.

My DHs feet touching mine in bed.

People touching my neck (which reminds me of when someone tried to abduct me in a night club once, asking me "are you attached to your friends?" whilst his hand was on the back of my neck and he was pushing me towards the door...shudder)

QuillPen · 22/10/2014 18:52

When somebody wants a lift at night. You have to leave your lovely warm house to get in a dark, quiet, spooky, cold car and there is thatcouple of seconds, before the engine starts and you switch the radio on and put your seat belt on and adjust the mirror - when anything could be lurking in the back seat second thoughts don't adjust the rear view mirror.
And every bone in your body is telling you hurry up and get moving, because once you get moving, nothing bad can happen.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 22/10/2014 18:56

Beards!
This newest fad-fashion of young men sporting beards of all shapes and sizes - oh, God! Yeuch. I won't be able to leave the house soon. I really, really do have a phobia. If DS hasn't shaved during the day, he is not allowed to give me a kiss on the cheek, it is that bad.

And clowns (you don't tend to bump into them as often as you would a bearded man, though). Ick!!

WowserBooooooooooooser · 22/10/2014 18:56

Red elastic bands

Wind turbines

Tansie · 22/10/2014 18:57

This is fascinating.

For me, it used to looking in the mirror at night, going to the loo; a 'fear' that's less pronounced as I get older, but I still have a quick, sharp intake of breath when I lift a WC lid in case there's a severed head in it..

I also hate my inner ankle bones touching against each other, like when you're in bed.

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 18:58

Watching people brush their teeth esp on TV

It makes me gag, especially the bit at the end where you can hear them slooshing the spit soaked toopaste from cheek to cheek. I always expect them to accidentally swallow it! I feel ill just typing it.

ginnycreeper5 · 22/10/2014 19:01

ut I still have a quick, sharp intake of breath when I lift a WC lid in case there's a severed head in it..
Holy crap!

Tansie · 22/10/2014 19:03

ginny re back seat of a car. Yes. I actually had to have a chat with DH about not turning the car's interior lights off (esp when driving my car!) - he never has them set to 'on-when-you-open-the-door' mode; so I told him that I believe the police had advised people to have them light up, 'just in case'. Yes, modern cars are waaaay harder to break into than old ones, but the fact remains, I always glance into the back seat before I climb into the front, alone and in the dark.

Because you never know Grin

justiceofthePeas · 22/10/2014 19:03

Hot air balloons.

ToriaPumpkin · 22/10/2014 19:12

I have the hatred of looking out of windows and opening curtains at night. But then when I was a teenager I looked out of my bedroom window after hearing a noise and there was actually someone there...
