Time for a new specialism, methinks!

Oh, FFS, now my link doesn't even work! Sigh. Try again

DumSpiroSpero · 18/02/2011 20:17

Love those films. DD has been painting my nails - you can see the results on my profile : )

Re t'other thread - all good - she went out with him Tues & Thursday, round to his for meal tonight and he's taking her away for her birthday next weekend!

SupermassiveLBD · 18/02/2011 20:19

And you think broken links are a pain Twigs, I just wrote a post and MN ate it!
Basically it said I am reasonably okay, bit of a prickly throat, don't want to go to bed cos it's boring!

SupermassiveLBD · 18/02/2011 20:21

Am reading the thread too, Spiro, hoping to pick up some tips in case I ever need them.

DumSpiroSpero · 18/02/2011 20:22

At least with colds you can dose yourself up - it's tummy bugs I always really dread, although rumour has it that one if the kids where I work has swine flu so I may change my thinking rather rapidly.

DumSpiroSpero · 18/02/2011 20:23

Ditto Massive - not looking too unlikely at the mo Hmm

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 18/02/2011 20:25

Can't do that too well though Spiro as I'm allergic to paracetamol and most patent remedies have that in them. Agree about tunny bugs though

SupermassiveLBD · 18/02/2011 20:26

tummy, obviously. Mind you I don't like meaty fish either.

DumSpiroSpero · 18/02/2011 20:36
Grin

Ibuprofen for lurgies?

OP posts:
SupermassiveLBD · 18/02/2011 20:40

Unfortunately I can't take that either, makes my head spin.

PassTheTwiglets · 18/02/2011 21:07

Massive, so you can't take any drugs when you're ill?! Goodness, how awful.

And a rare tuna steak is my fave food :)

SupermassiveLBD · 18/02/2011 21:12

( in a hoarse sense, not in a six-feet under sense) Aspirin is okay Twigs.

PassTheTwiglets · 18/02/2011 21:20

About to watch the finale of Spooks 8 and then no more Lucas left for me . I will have to carry on a few stories in my head :)

Feel better soon, Massive - I'm sure the good doctor will be there soon to give you his ministrations. And when you're done with him, pop him back over this way, would you? I'm not ill but prevention is better than cure, comme il dit.

DumSpiroSpero · 18/02/2011 21:23

Nightmare. Am not too bad on that front fortunately - there'sone type of antibiotic I'm a bit dodgy with and Anadin for some reason makes me feel really weird.

My top cold cure (not much good to you though by the sound of it) is to chuck a Beechams Cold & Flu in a mug with 2 tsps Covonia a squeeze of honey and a slug of whisky then top it all up with hot water. I do it last thing before bed and wrap wheat bag with some Olbas on round my neck and sleep propped up (usually on the sofa which has reclining ends).

I think it works because it knocks you out completely and you get a decent few hours sleep which is obviously really good for the immune system Grin

DumSpiroSpero · 18/02/2011 21:25

DD has finally gone to sleep - we had a lovely evening actually. Had finished the chores while she was at Rainbows so was much easier to do her bidding relax Smile.

Am loving my rainbow colour finger and toenails too - hers & mine match!

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/02/2011 22:51

Oh no, Massive is unwell!

Sit tight, my lovely, help is on its way. Thunderbirds are go!

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 18/02/2011 23:02

Twigs, there are some stories on that fanfic board I recommended that will sooth your Lucas loss...

I have been indulging in some Chateau Gizzy...

And I finally watched Frozen, without too many interruptions. Strange movie, but His Hotness was looking good.

SupermassiveLBD · 18/02/2011 23:04

Thanks Maud, I am just about to turn in. I have been reading Sunne in Splendour and drinking hot lemon.

I hope I haven't given anyone my germs.

Goodnight, all.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/02/2011 23:07

More than ever, I need my beauty sleep too. Goodnight all!

DumSpiroSpero · 18/02/2011 23:08

Night Massive - feel well soon.

I am watching Ultimate Force - how much do you want to bet DH walks in just as the towel scene comes on?

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 19/02/2011 07:18

How are you this morning, Massive? I did like Maud's Thunderbirds photo/caption :)

Phoenix, I would love some Lucas recommendations, thanks! I promise to read instead of skim this time :o (I did giggle at "His Hotness"!) Did you like Frozen? It's got some very mixed reviews. At the risk of being utterly shallow, is our boy in it enough to be worth buying? Same question goes for Ultimate Force, Spiro. I didn't think I'd like the soldier thing at all but Strike Back changed my mind :)

TheSmallPrint · 19/02/2011 08:37

Morning ladies, I had a bit of a nightmare stressful afternoon yesterday and then was so exhausted I went to bed after dinner!

Anyway, Twigs it's the long version but he gets called both. Ds1 has a long version of his name too but always called the short unless he's being told off.

I didn't put SB on eBay as I'm too lazy busy, it is sat in it's wrapper next to my desk.

Spiro sounds like you had a nice evening afterall, when I'm on the pooter I will look at your nails.

Massive hope you are feeling better today, I can take everything except beechams flu stuff as it makes me feel very sick - I am another sickness phobe (can't remember the proper word) so that's not good.

PassTheTwiglets · 19/02/2011 08:58

Sorry about your stressful afternoon, Small - sounds nasty :( Hope it's a better day today! The word you're thinking of is emetophobe, btw. I know 'cos I'm another one!

DumSpiroSpero · 19/02/2011 09:24

Sorry to hear about all the stress and lurgies and disappointments (running out of Lucas Sad).

Thankfully DH didn't come in mid-towel! UF is pretty good. RA's not in it a huge amount - starts off as a bit of a prat then mellows over the 5 episodes that he's in. If you don't want to buy it Twigs, I'll stick it in with LOTN and you can post it back to me when you're done.

Must be off now, Gnomeo & Juliet this morning!

OP posts:
TheSmallPrint · 19/02/2011 09:39

That's the word Twigs! I just need to heat that someone has a bug for me to get panicky- even if it's someone on here Grin.

ROFL at Spiro glad that DH didn't come in mid towel!
