... how long could you survive with what you have in your house right now?

Do you have any tins/bottled water etc put away in case of a emergency?

Have been frealing myself out reading some wacky conspiray sites (all baging on about something huge happeneing in the next 2 weeks) - Im not be;lieveing it, but it has made me think that one day there could be an event and I probably would only last a week with my store cupboard!

Off Grid is good. TA base would probably be full of zombies or nuclear/yellowstone/asteroid pixes anyway.

I am so looking forward to telling my friend that he is responsible for the survival of Mumsnet in the event of a holocaust....

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 20:44

May I join this court-fest? I will be able to loot very efficiently which will prove useful. Also Hassled can help me with the spare polo stick so she really should be in on it?

Anyone consider a boat necessary?

MrsChemist · 04/11/2010 20:45

My plan has just been altered to contain one of these

mychatnickname · 04/11/2010 20:45

You know when you were a kid and you had a sleepover and started telling ghost stories and then all got a bit hysterically scared?
That's how this thread is making me feel Grin

TandB · 04/11/2010 20:46

There is always room for useful contributors. [glares sternly around at all those clutching rice pudding and booze].
The code for the door is 1385x. I will bring the oar.

[looks around and reconsiders the usefulness of those with booze...]

Thingumy · 04/11/2010 20:46

No boat useage here

I think sticking to the land would be better plus I have no sea legs,I'd last about 27 minutes out at sea.

MrsChemist · 04/11/2010 20:46

I'll bring it along to court kfp, it seats 25, so we'd all fit in

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 20:47

Have you scrolled down and seen inside that monstrosity? Hmm

wineonafridaynight · 04/11/2010 20:47

Just looked in the pantry. We have lots of lentils, chick peas and bulghar wheat...but how would we cook them without water? We have a wee bit of gin and port. Could we cook them in those?! Grin

We also have two whole chickens and a ham in the freezer. I figure those can be cooked on our gas BBQ. I'm pleased the British weather was so rubbish this summer that we only had one BBQ!

Now within a 5 minute walk we have a Sainsburys local, Tesco Express, a Polish shop and an Indian shop. Which would be best for standard grocery looting I wonder. I'm thinking the Polish shop - they have good vodka and wine!

MaDuggar · 04/11/2010 20:48

Im stockpiling tampax and Galaxy.

Looks like a chris Eubank job.

TandB · 04/11/2010 20:48

The mind boggles at the thought of what sort of disaster would require that! Perhaps a zombie attack where there was nothing on TV and all the pubs had closed...

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 20:49

I guess we could Cath Kitschen it whilst waiting for The Apocalypse to start. If it seats 25 it will prove Very Useful. Can it tow? Hassled and I will need a box for our trusty steeds.

TandB · 04/11/2010 20:50

Why? Won't they fit inside?

MrsChemist · 04/11/2010 20:50

If I spend that much on an armoured car, I'm sure I'd be able to get the manufacturers to decorate it tastefully.

I will also bring along my Lootin' Stick.

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 20:52

It depends how many MNetters are squashed inside kungfu. Also there may be poo issues. Although I believe one can burn horse poo once dried.

Which isn't likely to happen anytime soon in the UK.

TandB · 04/11/2010 20:53

Well we are only up to 5 so far - although I assume we are at least giving consideration to bringing OHs and DCs along?

MrsChemist · 04/11/2010 20:53

If it rains a lot, and we run out of lacrosse sticks to burn, dried horse shit could come in handy.

TandB · 04/11/2010 20:54

Maybe we should identify some other MNetters with useful skills....

Thingumy · 04/11/2010 20:54

nah I'm leaving mine behind, they are always saying they can cope when I'm not here

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 20:54

That's 4 spaces taken already in my name then. If we all have a family of 4 we are full and need to order more armoured truck things:(

TandB · 04/11/2010 20:55

Oh are you coming too, Thingumy? Excellent. What can you contribute?

I have an OH and a small DS.

TandB · 04/11/2010 20:57

Actually, Thingumy, you don't need to contribute anything if you are leaving your OH behind. My friend is single so you can breed with him if we need to repopulate the earth.
