... how long could you survive with what you have in your house right now?

Do you have any tins/bottled water etc put away in case of a emergency?

Have been frealing myself out reading some wacky conspiray sites (all baging on about something huge happeneing in the next 2 weeks) - Im not be;lieveing it, but it has made me think that one day there could be an event and I probably would only last a week with my store cupboard!

Oh start a new one please kungfu? Or I could find and bump the other one I started?

Tee2072 · 07/11/2010 20:03

Oh yes, we do need a new one!

TandB · 07/11/2010 20:09

Done.

FellatioNelson · 07/11/2010 21:29

I'm not sure we need to worry about teachers TBH. After all we need to get these children breeding the minute they hit puberty. What's the point of educating them?

nickelbangBANGbang · 08/11/2010 10:29

I hate weekends - I miss everything!

now, onto the music - DH is an organist, and is very good at piano (he loves chopin and also has a huge amount of sheet music). I have a violin (and tuning pipes for it!), descant and treble recorder, and a piano.
and even more sheet music.
We can both also sing

Now, tlaking of organs - if we commandeer a church, he can play the organ (at this point, I would also like to insist that MaMoTTaT is one of us, as then they can take it in turns!)
our church is huge (can fit about 500 people in it), has gas fired heating, and a crypt that we can use for storing food.
It's also very close to an underground river, so we have water.
it also has a good piano, lots of cool sheet music (not just church stuff, but other books of "popular" tunes from the last century.
And lots and lots of candles.
the organ is electric, but it still has the bit where you can put a manual pump, so we can get that all back together.

I'll just catch up on Sundays developments....

FellatioNelson · 08/11/2010 10:53

Good call nickel. What we need is a map of all the places deemed suitable for us to shelter between here, Swizerland and Moldova, as there are quite a few of us - we might not all fit in to one at the same time, or we may need to keep moving.

Will DH's organ fit in your Fuck Rucksack? Maybe your should make enquiries about purloining a very strong wheelbarrow?

A very clever serious type was on Radio 4 this morning talking about how, at the end of this week, there might be a big punch-up between China and the US, over China's mooted plans to do something complicated to their currency. He said it could have serious repercussions, could lead to civil unrest in the US and it won't be very nice. This could be IT.Shock Keep your TVs switched on for news. All eyes on China.

OH God no! - just use one eye. I've just remembered we must keep the other eye free for signs of Israel accidentally nuking Iran.

nickelbangBANGbang · 08/11/2010 11:02

"Will DH's organ fit in your Fuck Rucksack?" Grin

no, but my recorders and violin will (i took great pleasure in trying to teach him to play once - he was dreadful Grin (both instruments - he was worse at the recorder, because he blew too hard)

The bad weather's started too - the BBC this morning ssid we're in for some nasty weather

FellatioNelson · 08/11/2010 11:28

Yep - very nasty. What with that, and the chinese, it's starting for sure. Are we betting on major flooding?

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 08/11/2010 11:38
Shock

Would it be a good idea to allocate MNers to watch out for certain tipping points? Now we have the Chinese to be concerned about I am worried that we have far too many potential tipping points to be able to juggle effectively.

Fellatio, kungfu started a new thread as this one is nearly at it's limit. I wonder if this fits the criteria for a Classic, to ensure information on this thread isn't lost.

FellatioNelson · 08/11/2010 11:42

I've asked for this to go into classics, or at least somewhere it will be properly archived. It could be historically significant - like Ann Frank's diary.

FellatioNelson · 08/11/2010 11:43

Didn't realise the other was already up and running. OK - hopping over there right now.

rebeccamumsnet · 08/11/2010 12:11

As this thread has some great posts and several people have requested that it doesn't disappear into oblivion, I am going to move it to 'What would you do?' right now.

FellatioNelson · 08/11/2010 12:22

Aw, thanks! We could be on the GCSE syllabus in 60 years time.

Tee2072 · 08/11/2010 12:24

Thanks Rebecca! You may now join us on the Bodenbus/submarine/warship!

nickelbangBANGbang · 08/11/2010 12:28

Classics would have been better.

but WWYD is a good place, I suppose! Grin

I recall MaDuggar complaining somewhere last week that noone knows who she is.
well, now she's the catalyst for saving mankind! Grin

northerngirl41 · 08/11/2010 21:00

My dad is a bit crazy and so we took up this challenge - no buying food at all and see who lasts the longest. The exception were bread, milk and eggs.

We won at 2 weeks 5 days. They caved in after 1 weeks 4 days. I do have LOADS of tinned stuff and the kids hought spaghetti Os for tea 4 nights running was bliss... Probably not the most healthy thing we've ever done and would not have been able to do it had DH not been away travelling.

FellatioNelson · 08/11/2010 21:12

God - that's an ace idea. My children would protest very loudly once the chocolate biscuits and pizza ran out, but I would LOVE to do such a thing. northerngirl we need you on our post apocolyptic warship, HMS Boden. You have the gung-ho survival spirit. Sign up immediately please.

northerngirl41 · 08/11/2010 22:02

Ah yes FellatioNelson - I can also make hand cream, ride a horse and hang curtains. I'd be right at home in a post apocalyptic society.

Also, can I point out that as mums, we get to be saved? The theory goes that old people aren't any use when manual labour becomes necessary for survival. Our children who have not had the benefit of education will take up resources such as food and time to look after them which aren't readily available post-nuclear fallout. Men can produce many offspring, so they aren't terribly necessary to the survival of the human species. Women of child bearing age who are educated though are supremely important! Wink

nickelbangBANGbang · 09/11/2010 16:02

I've got loads and loads of germolene, paracetamol, shampoo and clear packing tape.

coudl be very useful

FellatioNelson · 09/11/2010 20:32

Germolene you say? Well then, you must be chief first aider. I heart germolene. That little round tin, and that strange smelling pink gunk reminds me SO MUCH of my Grandma. And grazed knees. Smile

nickelbangBANGbang · 10/11/2010 13:21

yes!
[punches air in triumph]
Grin

it's the cure of all ills - i used some yesterday on DH's exczema. (can't spell it, though!!)
