... how long could you survive with what you have in your house right now?

Do you have any tins/bottled water etc put away in case of a emergency?

Have been frealing myself out reading some wacky conspiray sites (all baging on about something huge happeneing in the next 2 weeks) - Im not be;lieveing it, but it has made me think that one day there could be an event and I probably would only last a week with my store cupboard!

Grin makes a change from a good ol'fashioned Pandemic doesn't it!

vintageteacups · 03/11/2010 19:15

If it was as big as Yellowstone for example, not sure they'd be power anywhere for fridges! Best we all make a quick DIY wind turbine before the 13th!!! Grin

On the loo roll issue - we've got car magazines that'll into the next century!

MaDuggar · 03/11/2010 19:15

Do I need a gun then? Confused

Apparantly we need to bury our shit in the garden!

BeenBeta · 03/11/2010 19:16

Just remembered we have a well in our basement. We should be fine.

MaDuggar · 03/11/2010 19:16

Where do you live BeenBeta ..... Grin

I'd have to put my fish in the garden ponds then and drink the aquarium water... I never have bottled water in! If the freezer was running we'd be ok for a few weeks as the dry goods are reasonably well stocked too.

howdidthishappenthen · 03/11/2010 19:17

Bloody ages - after I showed the last zombie-plan thread to my DH he went mad buying survival stuff on t'internet. When that disaster comes, we're def ready in the howdid household..

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 03/11/2010 19:18

They have been chuntering about Yellowstone for a while though... I think I'd prefer a Pandemic as my Apocalyse of choice.

BeenBeta · 03/11/2010 19:18

We live in an old house.

MaDuggar · 03/11/2010 19:18

howdid - ohhh what do you have? I am seriously thinking about being prepared ...

Gosh i have just read through that site and im all jittery now. Hmm

Luckily i have stores of everything from water/milk/food to bog roll, matches, candels, medication ect.

Not sure how much help that would be if the world ended or WWIII started. worried now emotion

MaDuggar · 03/11/2010 19:19

SSS - I prefer the giant green fireball that is hurtling towards us :)

TitsalinaBumSquash · 03/11/2010 19:20

If something is gping to happen to wipe us all out i hope it is quick and painless and we don't know about it in time to freak out. Sad

MaDuggar · 03/11/2010 19:20

Tits they seem intelligent people (well soem of them) so I am slightly jittery myself! Even though nothing is likely to happen next week, i am considering stocking up on a few thinsg jsut in case

Beamur · 03/11/2010 19:22

I'm off to Asda to stock up on Ben and Jerrys.

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 03/11/2010 19:22

I have a basement but no well. I want a well now.

911 scared me. I bought supplies, I bought tape for the windows, I planned.

Bird flu scared me witless. I made Plans and Lists and Shopped etc. The most exciting thing was one of my mum's chickens dying and being collected by a suited and booted bod from DEFRA.

Swine flu, again bugger all happened. I am all Pandemic'd out. I think on reflection a dash of aliens would be most exciting. Yellowstone will just be a bloody awkward nusiance. Unless you live a bit too close obviously.

I have a pig torch and a cow torch Blush at least they are dynamo torches.

create · 03/11/2010 19:26

If the world ends, we won't need any food Grin

howdidthishappenthen · 03/11/2010 19:29

You cannot IMAGINE the stuff we have in the now named 'oh-fuck-ruck-sack' (so called because in the event we need to retrieve it from under the stairs we will inevitably be yelling, "oh fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck FUCK.") - I give you a random selection..

1: a trillion vitamin tables
2: water purification stuff
3: air filter masks
4: a geiger counter (I kid you not..)
5: wound powder
6: a compass
7: one serious mother-fecker leatherman penknife thingy (suitable for slaughtering wildlife up to and including giraffe size, from what I can make out)
8: wind up radios and torches (the type that don't need batteries)
9: survival sleeping bags
10: basic meds (inhalers etc) to last a couple of months.

etc etc etc ad nauseum.

you get the gist. So - if the worst comes, you're all invited over to our place Grin

vintageteacups · 03/11/2010 19:29

Anyone watch @Life After Apocolypse' last week on Channel 5? was very good but very scary. Not much hope for many really :(

Slubberdegullion · 03/11/2010 19:29

Well a year ago if you asked me that question it would have been bloody ages. Maybe at least a couple of months.

However with all the building work dh found my swine flu stash and has been making me (us) eat it up.

If I never see another tin of M&S chicken in white sauce it will be too soon.

MaDuggar · 03/11/2010 19:30
