I used to be on the game

I was a hooker for about 15 years. I now have a flat in Kensington and live in the Cotswolds with my two children.
My clients were very wealthy so I suppose you could say I was a high class hooker. I saved up enough to be able to escape that life and have two children and a husband.
Life is as boring and as settled as it gets.

I am thinking of writing a book.

How much did you get paid? Did you have to charge them or did they give you whatever they wanted? How many people did you see in a day/week?

Yes I got that impression.

Seziah · Today 11:05

I think you should write a book, it would be interesting. How and why did you get into it, was it because you enjoy random sex and wanted to be paid for it, like many men assume about sex workers? Did you start off with wealthy clients or work your way up?

Nutmuncher · Today 11:07

Could you ever be tempted to meet up with one of your clients for old times sake and not money?

Definitely write that book

42goingon14 · Today 11:08

How much sod you like / not like it? What were the best and worst bits?

TFImBackIn · Today 11:09

Were there any that paid you that you wish you could have dated and had a relationship with?

Were you ever frightened?

ToadRage · Today 11:10

How did you find clients or how did they find you? Assuming as you/they were high class you weren't working the streets.

BlettingMyMedlars · Today 11:11

If you’re thinking of writing a book, I’d be wary of putting a lot of material on here, tbh. Also, there have been quite a few former prostitutes who’ve done AMA s. Maybe have a look at those first to see if you’d be covering similar ground, before you give too much memoir material away for free?

Did you have a stable happy childhood? How would you feel if one of your children were to go into this line of work?

Oldhooker · Today 11:27

I got into it aged 13 as I was more or less forced to by my mother. She had drink and drug problems.
I had little formal schooling after that age as my mother was very good at hiding me.
Because I was young and therefore pretty, ( isn’t every 13 year old pretty) men asked for me. It was very traumatic at first. Horrible. My mother kept most of my money.
I left home at 16 and realised that if I took care of myself and didn’t look like a prostitute I could make more money.
I knew someone who was doing this and she gave me a couple of clients.

in today’s terms, I was getting about £500 a time. We used to go to nice hotels so no one to my flat. I was always scared but my friend and I used to always tell each other where we were and I used to make them book the hotel in their own name.
I used to average about two a day. Logistically that was all I could manage.
I then began to realise that when men were willing to pay that they wanted the “girlfriend experience “. Think, nice meal, bottle of wine, perhaps cinema or theatre, then back. So my prices went up accordingly and I started doing this for about £5k a time. Usually evenings.

I then started getting “regulars” and the more regular they became: the more they were willing to pay.
I started researching them at this point so I would go back to their place.
The sky is the limit for these types. They get it into their head that you enjoy being with them. So they will pay anything.

I think it is different for men who just want straight sex. They can be every day types. But there is a reason men are unable to form a proper relationship and they have to buy the girlfriend experience. So, no. I would never have wanted to be in a relationship with my clients.

The problem with writing a book is that my husband knows nothing about this. I am in contact with no one from my past. So I would worry that he would find out.

Abusive childhood. Things you could only imagine. I would hate my children to do it.

Did you always use condoms?

ConsideringBaby2 · Today 11:35

How awful, I’m sorry you experienced that level of exploitation, any level is awful of course but this is particularly horrible.

What is your relationship with your mother like now?
How have your experiences impacted your parenting?
Did your experience of CSE and later prostitution/escorting impact your view of sex?

OnTheTop · Today 11:36

I’m so sorry your childhood was so abusive. That’s absolutely awful to read.

How did you meet your husband?

SharkyBait · Today 11:38

I feel sad for that 13 year old girl who was thrust into this situation in the first place.

Were the men generally nice to you or did any of them ever hurt you or were abusive towards you?

oldwhyno · Today 11:44

This is awful, I'm sorry you had that start in life. I hope you enjoy your settled Cotswold and Kensington life.

DaisyandLily · Today 11:50

I have a friend who had a similar life and ended up marrying one of her clients. She doesn’t feel that she is traumatised by her past, do you?

Is the motivation to write your book to help you process your childhood, or for money, or another reason?

I hope you now have a settled and happy life.

That sounds judgemental. The OP was being raped, essentially, from the age of 13 and her mother was her pimp. Better to ask if the men used condoms, surely?

I was just about to say this.

She was being raped by disgusting paedophiles 😡.

ShutupLwren · Today 12:26

@Oldhooker i’m so sorry that happened to you. Growing up friends of mine would sometimes do sexual things with old men, friends of their parents or neighbours for a fiver/lambrini/chunk of weed and it’s an unwritten rule we never discuss it because the acknowledgment would open a massive trauma wound. I can’t imagine what you endured. Have you ever gone to therapy?

OneNewLeader · Today 12:29

If you write a book you are making the private, public. You can try to be anonymous but that’s hard. Leave the past where it belongs.

I don’t so much feel traumatised by the things that were done to me. More traumatised by the fact that I didn’t have a mother who would move heaven and earth to protect me in the ways that most other mothers would. Most people take for granted that their mother would act in their best interests. I am so jealous of this.
In terms of how my life has shaped my children’s upbringing, I would say more in the way that I treasure my relationship with my children and do not take for granted that they love me unconditionally.

My mother is in prison and does not know where I am. I would love to ask her why she did this to me.
Most men were nice to me. Especially since I left home as I was then in a position to decide for myself who to go with.
I met my husband when I was working for a property company abroad.

i made a fair bit of money with property and other investments so was able to explain my saving in that way. (Partly true)
Yes, I always used condoms.

Were there customers who were so unattractive the basically made you retch? Did you still go through with it or say no?
