My home town gets a lot of bad press but I am a proud Bradfordian, so ask me anything. I'm happy to discuss all the awful rumours that you've heard about this place 😊

OP posts:
FawnFrenchieMum · 21/09/2024 14:53

Are you white British or another ethnicity?

poppyzbrite4 · 21/09/2024 14:53

Are there no go areas where the police won't get involved?

Is there child grooming going on that noone stops?

Hoppinggreen · 21/09/2024 14:55

I live near Bradford
What are these "awful rumours"?

tonyhawks23 · 21/09/2024 15:05

Ah Bradford is a wonderful place!I miss it.ive not heard rumours either?

LightDrizzle · 21/09/2024 15:08

It was great to visit in the late 80s and early 90s; the Alhambra Theatre, the Kashmir Halal, the National Museum of Film and Photography. The business school had a great reputation and of course the Bradford Bulls were a great team in their time. I haven’t been for years. What’s it like now?

RainintheDesert · 21/09/2024 15:09

I've never been there so I can't judge. I haven't explored much of that part of England at all. So I won't be rude about it.

mushypaperstraws · 21/09/2024 15:12

Do people seem generally excited about City of Culture and do you think it will have an impact on the city?

tonyhawks23 · 21/09/2024 15:12

It's a beautiful area,well worth a visit.

BraveFacesEveryone · 21/09/2024 16:11

What are your thoughts on the old idea and NEC piling out as promotors?

I’m a fellow Bradfordian!

Sethera · 21/09/2024 16:18

Don't you think that instead of adding a new platform to Forster Square station, they should have built a tram link between Forster Square and the Interchange? It would be much more useful.

recurringcovid · 21/09/2024 16:23

What do you think of the horrible, vulgar and sexual street harassment women face walking through the city? (I have lived and worked there in the past and would not step foot outside alone).

How do you feel about it being the most “dangerous” place to live in the uk based on crime statistics.

Flossyts · 21/09/2024 16:24

Why do you think there is so much litter? Even in places you think should be kept tidy as a priority like up by the university and the Alhambra. And don’t say the government to me- other city’s have got nothing on Bradford when it comes to litter. It’s unbelievable.

Needmorelego · 21/09/2024 16:25

Is the Museum of Film and Photography still there?

Deadhouseplant · 21/09/2024 16:25

I visited Bradford for the theatre recently and I was surprised by the number of women wearing full face coverings. Is this common?

Needmorelego · 21/09/2024 16:27

Have you ever been to the former village/now suburb of Cottingley to see the fairies?

tonyhawks23 · 21/09/2024 17:12

Is pp right that it's dangerous?I was always fine walking around alone at night but that was 20 years ago.it was a lovely place 20 years ago.no litter then either.

Cozylozy · 21/09/2024 17:19

Architecture is Beautiful, a city with great history but unfortunately the nature of crimes that occur are horrific. A relative is a high ranking police officer in central Bradford

Bluefields96 · 21/09/2024 17:26

How do you feel when driving your car through Heaton or Manningham?

Do you think Heaton is as nice as it was fiifty years ago?

user47 · 21/09/2024 17:34

What awful rumours? It's a lot nicer than Rochdale or Halifax 😂

IBlameTheDog · 21/09/2024 17:34

Do you feel sad when you walk through the city centre and see what an absolute shit hole it's become?

40 years ago my mum used to take me in on a Saturday morning for a treat. We'd mooch round Rackhams then go to Carter's for some hot chocolate fudge cake. Such lovely memories.

I wouldn't step foot in the centre now. I'd be genuinely fearful for my safety. I did take DD to Waterstones (amazingly beautiful) a couple of years ago and vowed never to go again.

So sad. Such an affluent and important city once upon a time.

offyoujollywelltrot · 21/09/2024 17:39

Bradford is an absolute dump. I live nearby and I avoid going into the city because it's utterly shit now.

AmeliaEarache · 21/09/2024 17:42

Are you perpetually skint from spending all your money in the gorgeous Waterstones?

tonyhawks23 · 21/09/2024 17:47

OP if it's AMA you need to answer the questions?I'm intrigued to hear if it's true that Bradford is no longer nice?that's so sad if so.

Sethera · 21/09/2024 17:49

The Waterstones in Leeds is miles better than the Bradford one.
