Is he really a scaffolder then?! Is that what he does?

BioHive · 21/03/2024 22:52

@Teenangels what finance investments do you have and in what industries / companies ?

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 21/03/2024 22:52

@Teenangels cant, too lazy.

Cabincrew1 · 21/03/2024 22:53

You could make hubby do a window cleaning round on weekends if you need the extra pennies.

Flandango · 21/03/2024 22:49

The problem with earning this sort of money is that you think you are rich, but you not properly rich. You are the poorest of the rich people. A Greg Hirsch in a world of Tom Wambsgans

There is always a lot of people that are a lot richer than us, as I said my kids were the only ones to have a Saturday when doing A-levels, at Uni.

How many hours do you both work?

Do you have a good work/life balance? Work from home or office/location based?

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 21/03/2024 22:54

Oh dear what did @brightyellowflower say?!

This thread is absolute chaos.

It’s very hard to make money in a trade. Has your husband exploited people along the way to make his money? If so, who?

😂😂 he'll be working much longer hours than the staff.

This thread is absolute chaos.

seems only in theory are people allowed to be rich on tv, and not discuss their wealth unless its in eg biographies etc

DoIdriveaVauxhallZafira · 21/03/2024 22:56

Think you're getting a much harder time than usual here, op.

Congratulations on the success you've both had, I mean that genuinely, it's something most of us can't begin to imagine which is why I think you're getting so much grief (that & snobbery).

It sounds like you & your husband have built your wealth through his business, is that right?

Its amazing you've earned so much through a trade like that. Can you tell us anymore, without outing yourselves, about you both did that?

Just through business growth (scaffolding)?
Or from expanding the business in different directions or building a property portfolio?

upanddowns · 21/03/2024 22:56

"We have 4 ovens, I have never used all 4 at one time, but they looked better in the run of kitchen units." 😂😂😂 well good for you, glad it looks good, some of us can't afford one.

naturesform · 21/03/2024 22:57

Were you just friends for the first 15 years, or were you the OW? It's a confusing timeline

Rainynight09 · 21/03/2024 22:57

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 21/03/2024 22:49

You don’t have employees according to an earlier post, they are self employed so you don’t have to contribute to NI etc etc

Like the other PP I’m far too lazy to point out the glaring holes, and no not resentful either, OPs household income is hardly unusual.

Something feels inauthentic about this thread for some reason. Can’t put my finger on it though.

Yes I was thinking that. something feels totally off about this whole thread. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s not real.

"I am sure that he will not have an affair, we are very happy, but if he did, I would get half of everything and as a Director I know that what ever he would earn in the future I would get half."

Nope.. he'd just start another company of which you weren't director.

My dh earns similar but what on earth made you want to post your yours's on Mumsnet? However bored I was I don't think I'd have even thought of that.. just why??

Bet DH doesn't even know his personal balance sheet is being slapped onto the plasterboards of Mumsnet. Does he, @Teenangels? You'll need a scaffold to escape.

naturesform · 21/03/2024 20:52

No I think the 60K is from her lollipop lady job

😂😂😂😂😂

Seriously @Teenangels what's the fucking point of this. You earn bugger all of interest and what plenty of women on here earn.

Your husband's company does well.

What are we supposed to ask?

I have a little part time job because DH earns 6 figures and very well on bonus years. And?????

What do you think is so interesting or unusual about your situation that you'd start a thread about income you don't even earn, and announce ask me anything?

Hi OP,

How much do you spend on your average holiday?

What is the square footage of your house?

Are your extended family happy for you, or have you encountered bitterness since becoming successful?

thanks

Our average holiday is between 20-25k depending on how many kids are coming, if we are going skiing over new year it will be more, if we are going to the Caribbean in February it will be about 10k for the week.

Our house is 4500sf.

Close family are very happy as they have seen both if work hard, and some more extended family think they are entitled to things like cars or loans whenever.

£720,000 a year take home, in scaffolding? BS

My husband saw that people needed a professional that was going to be different in an industry full of chancers.

In his business once you have made an outlay you do not need to keep replacing the equipment as they can be reused making more profits.

You have to be willing for hard work and take risks, which can be very costly.

Interesting answer. This actually makes complete sense, and gives a valuable insight into why the business has been successful.
