Do you prefer fruit pastilles or opal fruits?

MaidOfSteel · 21/03/2024 22:41

What is your gross household income?

DorisDoesDoncaster · 21/03/2024 22:41

@Teenangels thank you for replying.

Congratulations to both of you for taking the risks and now reaping the rewards, whilst offering employment/work to others at the same time.

Not just employment, but the staff might one day go on to do the same or similar themselves, after learning how it’s done from your family business.

Love reading threads like this, just fascinating. Thanks again for posting.

No our house has no grey and if it did would it matter?

Cant stand Ant and Dec or Prosecco both are nasty.

What your house like @naturesform does it have a live laugh love vibe?

Thanks for answering my questions. I'll let you know what my house is like if I decide to do an AMA on it.

Did your house used to be grey but now its beige?

RomeoRivers · 21/03/2024 22:43

Hi OP,

How much do you spend on your average holiday?

What is the square footage of your house?

Are your extended family happy for you, or have you encountered bitterness since becoming successful?

thanks

Please do an ama - it should be “I’m prepared to answer anything”

Perfectlystill · 21/03/2024 22:44

This is a really crap AMA.

I have friends earning way more than the OP and her husband who are far more open.

Why even start the post if you're going to be so cryptic?

Why do you think being a designated safeguarding lead will be outing?

Dh owns a scaffolding business - did you find covid stopped his business?

How many years have you taken home 3/4 million

You said you were a single parent so eldest isn't your dh

How old are you kids

Its outing because someone who knows me could be reading.

Covid was a not a great time, we did not take out loans nor use the furlough scheme we paid our employees their wages as normal, it was quiet for a time and then boomed, it has been a slow 22/23 with interest rates going up and the supply of building materials being in such short supply.

We have had profits of that much for the last 10-12 years.

My eldest is not my husbands child he was 1.5 when we met.

My eldest is 26 and the youngest is 17

Are you upset that some people can't afford to go to the dentist, can't feed their families, can't go on holiday, buy everything second hand so they can have furniture, clothes? Do you not feel that you should share your wealth? Do you for example contribute to a food bank?

justasking111 · 21/03/2024 22:48

I'd guess Scaffolding. We were in a trade my DH and his brothers left school at 16 to work in the family business. We've had some hairy times with the economy going up and down over the years. So always had money put away for the rainy days.

Two of our children are self employed. One of the wives hates the boom and bust of it all despite living very well out of it overall.

The other wife chucked in a lucrative career and branched out into her own business which works around the children.

Self employed aint for the timid.

pickytube · 21/03/2024 22:48

Not sure if you have answered this but what extra help do you hire?

CoolShoeshine · 21/03/2024 22:49

Bit of a drawn out thread but I have maximum respect for someone who can build that sort of income from a scaffolding company they created and maximum respect for a wife who has a decent profession of her own despite not needing to work in the slightest.

Betterbuckleupbarbara · 21/03/2024 22:49

You don’t have employees according to an earlier post, they are self employed so you don’t have to contribute to NI etc etc

Like the other PP I’m far too lazy to point out the glaring holes, and no not resentful either, OPs household income is hardly unusual.

Something feels inauthentic about this thread for some reason. Can’t put my finger on it though.

Frangipanyoul8r · 21/03/2024 22:49

It’s very hard to make money in a trade. Has your husband exploited people along the way to make his money? If so, who?

Flandango · 21/03/2024 22:49

The problem with earning this sort of money is that you think you are rich, but you not properly rich. You are the poorest of the rich people. A Greg Hirsch in a world of Tom Wambsgans

Can ypi give a blueprint to build a 600k profit per year business? I'd do almost anything for that kind of income!

My husband saw that people needed a professional that was going to be different in an industry full of chancers.

In his business once you have made an outlay you do not need to keep replacing the equipment as they can be reused making more profits.

You have to be willing for hard work and take risks, which can be very costly.

So if your eldest is 26 and was 1.5 when you met your husband, you have been with your husband 24 years?

Yet in 2019 he was your partner of 4 years. Curious 😂

She can’t - she hasn’t done it herself, she is a mere observer.

@Flandango i just pulled a muscle.
