Mine is Sean Pertwee so he's not an option for you .

I feel like we might be 'talking' to AI

You take home 720k, after tax, have multiple properties. But if the business went bust could only survive a year?

This. I call bs! 😂

Ginge912 · 21/03/2024 22:29

Please can you lend me a few quid?

Meagainreincarnated · 21/03/2024 22:29

I imagine if we had that take home pay we'd have more exciting things to do tonight. With all that money, nothing came to mind apart from Mumsnet?

Do you always fly first class (guessing yes) and if so what is it like?

Also do you ever use public transport? If it's quicker e.g. the tube in London? One reason I ask is that if I had that much money, public transport would be the first thing I'd want to ditch!

Have there ever been times when your husband has been taking huge financial risks, when you could have lost everything, including your home, when you wished he just had a normal job?

I would love to know what his upbringing was like please. Did he come from poverty, money or a family who encouraged him to take risks or play it safe?

I’m in awe of people who have the balls to go for it, but it was drilled into me from a very early age to live a ‘safe’ financial life.

Really fascinating thread - thanks for posting.

We have taken huge risks, re mortgaging the house to pay bills and the not being able to pay the bills, there were times when we had no food in the house and a few days until I was paid, I walked to work and dropped the eldest to the childminder as we had no petrol in the car. At times I begged my husband to give it all up and work for someone. I so wished that he would have a normal job.

My husbands upbringing was in todays standards was poverty, but a very loving household. His parents did not have any qualifications and lived in a council house, his Dad was unemployed for a lot of the time but a very proud man.

Earn that much yet can’t comprehend basic SPaG. Interesting.

Not really. I know quite a few high earners that have poor SPaG for various reasons.

My partner is one. He can't write sentences for shit but can write very good code.

Can ypi give a blueprint to build a 600k profit per year business? I'd do almost anything for that kind of income!

Is your house predominantly grey? I'm getting a bit of a live laugh love vibe. Huuuuge telly and a cheeky prosecco in front of Ant and Dec

Bet there’s a few Buddhas dotted about!

I guess your DH has one of those very over charging companies of trade workers like plumbers - many total rip off trade cos. like that in London! Some very poorly qualified.

Loki64 · 21/03/2024 22:36

You earn 60k a year which isn't difficult to come by with people working in London. Your husband earns a very large wage, maybe he should make a mumsnet post and answer the questions?

theduchessofspork · 21/03/2024 22:38

Thing is OP you have a good but ordinary salary - your husband earns the money, and while it’s a lot of money, it isn’t rich rich - so all it means is you have an upper middle class lifestyle, provided to you by your husband, with none of the typical worries about maintaining it.

It sounds like you are happy which is great, but it’s not a very interesting AMA

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2024 22:39

Why do you think being a designated safeguarding lead will be outing?

Dh owns a scaffolding business - did you find covid stopped his business?

How many years have you taken home 3/4 million

You said you were a single parent so eldest isn't your dh

How old are you kids

No our house has no grey and if it did would it matter?

Cant stand Ant and Dec or Prosecco both are nasty.

What your house like @naturesform does it have a live laugh love vibe?

I've been at both ends of the scale and yes wealthy people may have better holiday accommodation, a bigger house than most & eat in fancier restaurants. Experience has taught me as long as people don't have actual money worries they can be just as happy without being wealthy. It's all about appreciating what you have. When you've experienced life at both ends you realise happiness & contentment is really not about having loads of money.
