Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

Hi all. I've not rtft, only just come across it. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there's age limits to breast reductions? My daughter is 14 and already a 32JJ. She is very unhappy about it.

Obviously 🙄 would wait until I thought she had finished growing ti do anything but she has already discussed a reduction in the future with me so I was wondering if anyone had a reduction done at a young age?

Madagascary · 25/10/2023 22:52

Poor girl, with a small backs like that, it doesn’t sound like a can be just generally being overweight.

Although as people will no doubt, tell you having a reduction quite young does not mean that they won’t grow back through either pregnancy or menopause, life is too short to put up with that.

I would start putting wheels in motion if she’s happy to, but very much let it be led by her, but know that you are open to talk about it.

Madagascary · 26/10/2023 02:37

Just reread my message, typed when I got in from a lovely meal and maybe a few glasses of wine.

I need to correct/ things .might grow back if you have a reduction too young.

They say that anyway, thankfully I’m not a doctor.!!

Singletrackmind · 26/10/2023 09:10

@imnotthatkindofmum thats tough … I think girls now have a much tougher social environment to cope with this. We did cover this … possibly on the OP’s original thread as someone asked the same question. So do look back.
It’s unlikely she’d be approved so young (either NHS or private) but you could start enquiring. Issues - age, psychological issues/ future growth through hormonal changes/ breast feeding if wanting children at some point/ it is major surgery, things can go wrong and while not usual it is possible.

Singletrackmind · 26/10/2023 09:12

@Madagascary that thing you said about wanting to accost chesty women … totally😁

😂

Weatherwax13 · 26/10/2023 19:58

@RedWineIsFine do you have anyone else that could be around for those three days? Another six months would be a pain.
@imnotthatkindofmum my surgeon worked on an 18 yr old and said in cases like that he'll always do it at 18 because it's life changing and they don't always need later revision work. He told me there are so many factors involved in that. I'm not in the UK though so idk if anyone does it before 18. I really feel for her and like pp said I'd definitely do some research.

Madagascary · 26/10/2023 21:04

@RedWineIsFine you must have someone with you

Weatherwax13 · 27/10/2023 00:04

@MorrisZapp decided I actively dislike my surgeon too. Fairly certain I was starting to brew an infection yesterday. Could NOT get hold of him. Eventually spoke to the senior practice nurse who promised to reach him and call back within an hour. She didn't and by that time the clinic reception had closed
Rang the surgical unit at the hospital twice. Both times they said they'd track him down and have him call me. Heard nothing.
6.00p.m had a call from my local pharmacy saying they'd received an antibiotic script by fax but were closing so I'd have to get it this morning. When I pleaded they agreed to have someone wait to close up till H could get there.
If not for that, I think I'd have been in a world of trouble by now. I still don't feel great, but I've had 4 doses, I'm not so shivery and haven't thrown up again.
The incisions look ok but obviously I've only checked them myself!
I'm so bloody angry as I think it's completely negligent. It's 10.00a.m here now and no follow up call either from the surgeon or the practice nurse.
I'm going to write a complaint I think.

Heartfullofcheese · 27/10/2023 00:13

That’s appalling @Weatherwax13 - my surgeon gave me his number to WhatsApp if needed, which I appreciated. I would complain. I hope you recover well now.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 27/10/2023 08:36

@Weatherwax13 that’s awful. I had WhatsApp details, out of hours number, email addresses, the works. That is negligent and no excuse for someone not calling you, thank goodness for your pharmacy! I hope you continue to feel much better.

Singletrackmind · 27/10/2023 11:44

@Weatherwax13 hope you are alright. As has been said … not ok … would try & speak to them in person if you can/ put something in writing.

Weatherwax13 · 27/10/2023 12:10

Thanks everyone. Feeling better but yes, very annoyed. Had a voicemail from the practice nurse tonight with a fumbled apology for the oversight. 30 hours after i spoke to her. I'll deal with her in the morning.
I'm just bloody lucky I live in a small town with a pharmacist who knows me or she wouldn't have rung me and then kept the store open so my H could collect the antibiotics !
How is everyone else going??

Madagascary · 29/10/2023 18:28

How’s things @Weatherwax13

Madagascary · 29/10/2023 18:28

In other news, I’m on a pre-Christmas diet. The boob stomach ratio is again, not good.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 29/10/2023 20:15

I need to be on one too @Madagascary, although sat here stuffed after roast and crumble 😂 so not off to a good start!
How are you feeling @Weatherwax13 ?

Weatherwax13 · 29/10/2023 20:22

@Madagascary I'm going ok thanks. Boobs look ok. Had to change the dressings as they pinged off which made me queasy but at least showed all the incisions look healthy! They've "fluffed up" a bit as a pp said. The area where he did the liposuction is very puffy but I assume that'll right itself.
Also had a grovelling apology from his office over last weeks debacle which is something.
I know what you mean re belly=boob ration. In my case I'm still swollen up from the anaesthetic fuck up so it's really noticeable.
I was 5 kg heavier 36 hrs after surgery with all that fluid! So it's not my imagination that I look like a barrel.
That's all v negative reading back. I think I'm just low and emotional today. But I know my boobs are going to look great, I'm still so glad I did it, and I know I'll feel more positive soon:)

Madagascary · 29/10/2023 20:37

So glad the scars are ok and apology

yes stomach takes ages to get used to but the sml perkies are the best

where was your lipo

Heartfullofcheese · 29/10/2023 21:17

I think we all had ups and downs during recovery to be honest. I had: they are uneven, my stomach is massive, they are still too big, itchy uncomfortable days, will they ever heal, I’m fat….never regretted it but it’s been a journey.
I am just on 3 months and the unevenness and imperfection doesn’t bother me now. The comfort factor of not lugging J cups around trumps everything.

Pre Christmas diet starts this week!

Madagascary · 29/10/2023 21:44

Def. But as you say WOW

Weatherwax13 · 30/10/2023 03:15

Liposuction is either side of my boobs, the flabby bit under the arms. He says he always does it to prevent a "square" look. I'll ask whether I can expect it to change when I see him tomorrow. I'm hoping it's just puffiness.
Bruising from the liposuction has almost disappeared. Probably the most irritating thing is the itching. Can't wait to lose the dressings, and I can't remember when that is.
So far mine look pretty even. Still can't get used to them being attached to my chest rather than hanging several inches below!
And pulling on a bra without having to lean forward, then stand up to hoick breasts into roughly the right position, then adjust hourly through the day as they try to escape downwards! Plus these are little, stretchy crop top things. Never owned one before! So comfortable:))))

Madagascary · 30/10/2023 05:47

Yes no hoiking!!. A pleasure every morning
lots of lipo then
my boobs were yellow for a while. Was just reading the old thread. And felt bruised for weeks but the lipo took longest. (Had done breast tissue removed under left arm )

Heartfullofcheese · 30/10/2023 15:51

Little stretchy crop tops are amazing. I have bought lots and they make me happy,

RedWineIsFine · 31/10/2023 17:23

Hello, thought I'd add my appropriate t-shirt, next year when I'm smaller it might fit!
Good news ish, I've been put back to 13th Dec, it means DH can be there, but also probably means Christmas will be just me on the sofa watching Christmas movies and being brought wine. Actually there's no ish, that sounds a winner!
Glad you're on the mend @Weatherwax13 that was appalling aftercare.
How's everyone else doing?
