I'm 51 and maybe I'd be considered an influencer, albeit an ageing one 😀

Some of you will have heard of me I'm sure as my area is something popular with lots of people but I like to fly under the radar. I have a following of 250k so not huge amounts but enough to be paid by brands and make a good living

So I say good for you OP, keep going and probably don't engage further with bullying comments on here

Good for you, and 250k is definitively not to be sniffed at 😊 I follow several „aging“ fashion and lifestyle influences, I think they are doing a great job creating visibility for women outside their twenties/ thirties.

@Mira28 thanks! I also work from home too - freelancing stuff.

On my social media channels I use a pseudonym. I hide behind another name ,if you like. So although it's very easy to find my actual name, it does give me that layer of privacy because until I did that, I was most surprised to see myself mentioned both on here and Tattle!

And the most surprising thing of all was how it was all just made up nonsense. I don't think there'd be enough money for me to be Mrs Hinch or Charlotte Dawson etc

Do you pay into a pension? What will you do when you're older - what will you put on your CV if you need to job hunt - genuinely not being goady, but if I got an application from an "influencer" it wouldn't be long listed let alone short listed. Obviously people have preconceived negative opinions about influencers, and I suppose I'm one of them.

I appreciate that I don't know what field you work in, but if you really can't see that an influencer potentially has a number of transferable skills - time management, communication, organisation, self-motivation, engaging with stakeholders to name but a few - then that's short-sighted of you as a recruiter.

Totally agree. They are running their own content creation business which gives them tonnes of transferable skills. It doesn’t need to go on their CV as “influencer”. People are so quick to dismiss things when it actually involves skill and hard work.

I think it's awesome to hear about your journey as an Instagram influencer at 51! Age is just a number, and your 250k following is definitely something to be proud of. You're right, there's a growing appreciation for influencers of all ages, and your work is helping to showcase that. Keep doing what you're doing, and don't let any negative comments get you down. You're rocking it! Also, if you're looking to boost your social media presence even more, I recently came across a budget-friendly SMM provider called 9smm.com. They might be worth checking out to expand your reach even further.

No questions, just a whole lot of laughter. Sorry.

How to say “I’m a bully” without saying it.

You know this just makes you sound really unpleasant and hard of thinking? You took the time to post this despite OP sounding perfectly nice and down to earth.
