How do you view Islamic apostates?

Mvslimah · 21/11/2022 17:48

JustBecause22 · 21/11/2022 17:46

So why subscribe to a religion which allows this? (amongst many many other abhorrent things)

I’d be angry in my specific situation, because I went into our marriage with the understanding it was going to be monogamous. But it works for some people, people have polyamorous relationships all the time in the west, works for some not all, same as polygyny here

It’s a shame they left the religion, maybe if we as a community were more open minded and less shouty at times then perhaps less people would leave. Hopefully they’ll come back

The VIRGIN Mary had children prior to Jesus? How'd she do that, then?

JustBecause22 · 21/11/2022 17:50

Also, you religion teaches:

Every one that God admits into the paradise will be married to 72 houries (wives) who are beautiful and virgins, with whom they can have eternal physical satisfaction

This is for the men, clearly. So what do you believe you'll get if you go to Heaven? Are you not worried that this is a very one sided religion when it comes to the sexes?

Flapjackquack · 21/11/2022 17:47

Eek I thought that was pretty fundamental to Islam.

It’s not a core tenant of Islam, it’s based on a hadith that there is reward in showering blessing on the prophet and I said it in my head. Allah knows my intention. But negating to say or think or write saws doesn’t take you out of the fold of Islam.

so goady

Those people who choose that however, are not Christian.

Biblically. Not Quranically. Christian scholars argue a mistranslation of the word that’s been taken up to mean virgin

… ok,

do you not consider LDS Christian? Fundamentalist Mormons practice polygyny

bit of a weak hadith there so that’s debated as to whether thats authentic

No, I do not consider those people to be Christian. They, like many other streams of religions have had a 'leader' or 'prophet' several years later make up their own translations of things

I find it really hard to understand how a woman would want to move from freedom and choices to rules and diktats that aren’t imposed on men?

I’d like your take on this please

eelieza · 21/11/2022 17:55

Why?

But there are rules on men, they are just different, so far nothing has been imposed on me

The LDS church has condemned polygamy. There are Mormons who practice it, but, no, I would not consider that a practice sanctioned by the church.

Yes I am, as long as I dress modestly I’m free to dress how I chose

You may well choose to dress modestly regardless of your religion, however, I think one could argue that the requirement to dress modestly is an imposition.

But there was a time it was mainstream in lds right? Islam of course is different as it has a much further reach than lds and more adherents but there’s Muslim countries that have banned polygyny too or that have made it incredibly hard, so it’s not quite a one size fits all

there’s some pretty interesting history around those surats too, following a battle when Muslims numbers were small and many casualties so lots of women and children were left without protection (which historically speaking was a husband)

That’s a matter of perspective. Modesty is encouraged in most world religions

So you pick and choose which Hadith's are authentic?

I don’t no, there’s a whole science behind hadith and it’s something heavily researched and debated by scholars and they decide which ones are authentic and which are weak and then there is a hierarchy to the book of hadith as to which are the most authentic

Mvslimah · 21/11/2022 18:07

You can get Islamic and Jewish swimsuits :) or go to a woman’s only space if you dress modestly

Can I ask if you have children? If so, how does it make you feel that Prophet Muhammad took his wife when she was only 6 years old, and slept with her when she was 9?

Aisha was not 6 nor 9!!!!! This is a myth and has been proved several times that she was much older either 14-15 or 18-19. Get your facts right.
In those days it was common for people to marry that age. I'd say the last 50-60 years ago people were still married around that age.
My grandma got married at age 12...coming from an Indian background.
Learn some history and learn some facts. Stop being so ignorant and spreading lies.
