I find it really hard to understand how a woman would want to move from freedom and choices to rules and diktats that aren’t imposed on men?

Mary was not 11 nor did she have any more children before or after the birth of Jesus. Evidence for this is on the cross Jesus told his disciple John to care for his mother, and she lived with him from that point on. If there were any other sibling or family, under no circumstances would an unrelated man take Mary into his home. We don’t know Mary’s age but betrothal was usually mid to late teens. There is no evidence that she was 11. She also walked for about 3 days up into the hill country to see her kinswoman, Elizabeth, when she was a few months pregnant. An 11 year old would be extremely unlikely to do something like that.

Mary was also asked by the Angel Gabriel if she would be willing to be the mother of Jesus. No coercion was involved, she had free will to say yes or no.

Jesus’s siblings are referenced in the bible… scholars of Christianity even debate the word thats been used to describe her as a virgin as it’s used in the Old Testament to mean simply young woman

aisha was also asked, Muslim women must consent to marriage. Aisha was also given the opportunity to leave conséquence free and she chose to stay, she never married after either. There’s a lot of evidence to show that the prophet deeply loved her and she him but there is debate over her age in the Muslim community too

Aisha was asked. AT AGE 6??? And you think that’s ok? Can you explain why?

The prophet Isa (Peace be upon him), Christians call him Jesus.

But you know this surely?

Of course I know this, but I’ve literally never heard of any Muslim exchanging gifts to celebrate jesus’s birthday. It was a weird question. And typically when people say ‘your prophet’ they are referring to Muhammad, and some Muslims do exchange gifts for his birthday, but in my opinion this is not the correct view

Muslim women can only marry Muslim men, so my husband is Muslim.

i have 2 yes, that’s a huge misconception, Muslims can choose their own spouse, so they can do that, i work, they can do in whatever industry they like (within reason). Muslim women aren’t these helpless souls who can’t decide anything for themselves you know

It’s not a misconception at all; yes some women CAN choose their own spouse. As in, it’s legal. Doesn’t mean it always happens. My friend had an arranged marriage. I asked questions, you came on AMA.
will your husband want to choose your daughters husbands?

I don’t think child marriage is acceptable, but it was a custom of the people, all people, Christians, Jews and pagans of the time. The majority consensus is she married Muhammad at 6 but didn’t live with him until she was older, she went back to her parents house and carried on as she was

You don't use, "Peace be Upon Him", when naming the prophets is there a reason for this?

How long have you been Muslim?

JustBecause22 · 21/11/2022 17:42

As is permitted in the Islamic Religion, how would you feel if your husband were take other wives?

Yoyooo · 21/11/2022 17:42

Did you convert because you married? How was your husband allowed to marry you if non Muslims can't marry?

catsonahottinroof · 21/11/2022 17:42

So did your husband convert at the same time as you?

It is a misconception that Muslim don’t have a say on marriage, when they do in fact they have to and anything less is haram.

forced marriages happen all over the world, in lots of different communities and cultures, it’s not an Islamic thing even though some Muslims do it, they are wrong and shouldn’t.

No he wouldn’t. We had a love marriage or we arranged our own marriage, they can do the same, the time may come they ask us for help but it’s not our intention to betroth them to anyone

I’d be angry and it would probably be the end of our marriage

No I was Muslim many years before. Probably about 6 years before

muslim men can marry Jews and Christians, i was vaguely culturally Christian, our marriage would have been acceptable if he wanted to marry me prior to my conversion

That's not usually something Muslims forget, it's disrespectful. But you know that right?

How do you feel about the way millions of Muslim women are treated around the world and why did you still find the religion attractive knowing those facts.
