I had a breast reduction AMA

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

My surgeon said it’s possible but only with hormone changes, so menopause. But there is less breast tissue to react to the hormones so the growth would be less than it would have been before the reduction, if that makes sense? It was still worth the risk and tbh I’d have a second reduction after menopause if needed.

Mine have gone up and down according to the weight I am but have retained the same shape and more or less the same position. Mine was done 37 years ago.

Bloody hell! 37 years ago is amazing. My mum was only saying how she wished she’d had hers done but didn’t think the operation existed then. Did you get yours done on the NHS back in the day?

I had my pre op yesterday. He’s concerned I want to be too small 😁
couple of interesting points, I was told not to take turmeric or fish oils as they can thin the blood. Also told as I use transdermal HRT whilst it is hospital policy to stop he is happy for me to make the call. Have been sent away with lots of photos and to think about what size we are aiming for, where on earth do you find photos of size 12 women and sensible sized boobs?

Are you a normal weight. What’s your normal size ?
top tip - it really makes your stomach look bigger initially.

I was a 34F dropped to a C/D. Happy with mine. But as we have said before it’s the pert ness that’s the big change
were only going to get droopier!

I was a H dropped to a C, very happy with them.

Let's not say 'dropped'! H to C is amazing, I'm currently a G but my surgeon is terrifying so I'm frightened to ask her about size outcome.

I'm buying front zip bras wherever I see them, which is surprisingly regularly. Asda have fab blue ones, reduced to six quid. I usually throw the padding away immediately (hello its a G cup are you kidding) but I've kept it for future nipple protection.

@Martinisarebetterdirty … thanks for the update! My pre op is tomorrow and I will report back … I think we are a similar size .. I’ve just been scouring (some
might call it perving 😂) around the internet for a while & have found some relatable/ sporty looking boobs that I would like mine to look like .. I think … a few of the B/As from my surgeon are also close so hopefully enough info. I’m trying not to focus on cup size as my boob footprint is quite wide so I imagine that a 32 D would actually be quite small 🤷‍♀️

Ps… last bra I bought was a 32G… gah

@MorrisZapp yes but you’ve got to agree on a size, remember that you are are paying for this service, tell the surgeon what you want

I’m a 30G at the moment and to be honest as long as I can buy normal clothes and swimwear I’ll be happy. I think my guy has a good eye going on his portfolio, he said about my stomach looking bigger too @Madagascary

Yes, I will say that my fat abs are now more noticeable, before with bigger breasts my waist seemed smaller, now I look like square shape. I’m thinking of tummy tuck now.

That’s not breast tissue growth though, that’s fat and a separate issue @ILoveMyBedTooMuch

@Martinisarebetterdirty , my consultant told me to look on Realself when I asked there I could find pictures of a 32DD I was a 32GG/H and wanted to be a 32DD ie not too small as I have had big boobs all my life so didn’t want to go too small. I found some boobs on that site which were similar to me before I had the reduction and which also said they were a 32DD after. I also found a story about Ulrika Jonnson with pictures who said she had gone down to 32DD after her reduction. I showed him that picture too. I have just relooked at the article (it was in the Mirror) and it doesn’t say that she was a 32DD in that article but I definitely read that somewhere that this was her size after surgery.

For those talking about tummies, I didn’t have a full tummy tuck but I did have a mini at the same time, ie cutting through my Caesarian scar and pulling the tummy down to get rid of the overhang plus some lipo. I am very pleased with the results overall, almost six weeks post surgery.
