I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D.

Crack on with any questions!

Eeeek that will be here before you know it @MorrisZapp so exciting!

How did you measure yourself for bras while you were still recovering @Bigtitsbetty ? I’m not getting on with the Macom, it feels like it’s squishing my nipples and they have developed an almost unbearable oversensitivity. Boob or Bust is telling me 32FF but I don’t believe it because I'm still quite swollen. Do I just need to try on some different sizes?

I just wore that next sports bra for months

Thanks everyone! My sister had a personal trainer in the run up to her wedding. Said he was a cheeky wee bollix but omg she was so ripped on the day 😍

MorrisZapp · 30/06/2023 13:10

There's a lady on tiktok who really rates the Marks and Spencer front closing post surgery bra. It's sooo soft, I nabbed one in town the other day. 22 quid so much cheaper than medical brands, plus no VAT if you've had surgery.

Bigtitsbetty · 30/06/2023 14:29

@user80 i really liked the macom so wore those and then some zip front sports bras from next. I’m probably not much help. sorry.

Post op ladies - have you noticed that now you don’t need to buy such big cup sizes, that the bands are significantly narrower under your arms? It so annoying.

OP posts:
Madagascary · 30/06/2023 15:37

Primark did them too at one point. But tbh you just want soft. With a wide band. I wore marks post cancer surgery ones at the start Like a crop top because the band so soft.

Not sure how I’ve uploaded so many pics!! Just the bra ons

Madagascary · 30/06/2023 16:07

This bra is my everyday one now.

Madagascary · 30/06/2023 16:09

Oh Fuxake Full cup soft body bra. £22

Singletrackmind · 30/06/2023 16:15

How timely was gonna ask about which post surgery bras to buy… assuming with swelling/ not knowing cup size a few options would be best 🤔

Madagascary · 30/06/2023 16:43

Immediately post I did macron. Then got these from marks as wide under strap so softer on under boob stitches

then went onto the body one I mentioned before

Also. Yours understandably preoccupied with size pre op.

But when you’re post and your boobs are lifted and pert and not great old bags of fat ( !) you realise size isn’t such a big deal with this kind of bra.

user80 · 30/06/2023 19:20

Thanks all. Have bought a few in varying sizes. I didn’t really expect to still be so swollen 3.5 weeks out but just goes to show how major an op it is.

Singletrackmind · 30/06/2023 19:34

Ah ok, also assuming they all need to front fastening …?

@user you alright - how did other people go with the post op swelling?

3.5 weeks!! Mate!! Of course you are!!

I was still at 3 months!!

Madagascary · 30/06/2023 23:32

And only front fastening for a bit. - fortnight

user80 · 01/07/2023 08:09

By far the worst bits of recovery for me have been sleeping on my back (I am waking up with severe back pain from this every morning, and not getting great quality sleep), and now this oversensitivity. I feel like the oversensitivity is really holding me back and stopping me getting on with life, the scars are healing nicely but I’m still
hobbling about trying not to jiggle or knock them. It’s like a burning sensation, I don’t know if I’d call it pain but at times it becomes almost unbearable and I just have to sit completely still. I’ve ordered some nipple shields to see if that helps, and some bras. From a bit of online research, it looks like it could last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

EllaRaines · 01/07/2023 08:13

A friend paid privately for a breast reduction and was overjoyed at the results.

Within three years her breasts had grown back and were even bigger.

She claims she was not told that breast tissue can start growing again after a reduction.

She has since discovered that it's quite common.

Were you warned and how do you feel about it if the breasts start growing again?

Bigtitsbetty · 01/07/2023 11:33

@EllaRaines I was told it’s possible. But I’m now a DD so even if I grow, they will have to grow a lot to get as big as they were. My boobs have also been lifted so even if bigger they won’t be as saggy.

I am post menopausal so I don’t have hormones affecting my breast growth as much either so it was a chance I am willing to take.

Touty · 01/07/2023 12:06

I asked about whether they would grow back too - the surgeon said no not unless I use high dose hrt.

it’s one of the reasons I waited until post menopause to get them done.

im using hrt but at low dose but it’s not enough- but I don’t want big boobs again

Madagascary · 01/07/2023 13:19

Agree with all that. Getting them done going I expect is riskier.

Singletrackmind · 01/07/2023 16:13

I dunno you wander off for a moment …

@EllaRaines yes breasts can grow [again]but it’s entirely contextual to the individual and is driven by hormonal change/ weight change or both.
So far more likely if you are young/ still growing, pregnancy, peri/menopausal hormonal change or weight gain at any point. It’s the glandular tissue that responds to hormonal change but 50% + of the breast mass is fat so by and large it’s weight gain that is the biggest culprit. So without context it’s impossible to gauge the anecdote about your friend. As others have said there’s a good reason to wait until your 50s to get this done & uplift is a big part of the reduction.

@user80 you really need your sleep, extra pillows & whatever it takes to get comfy + good plan on something soft over the nipple whilst the hypersensitivity is a thing.

@Madagascary ta for bra info … gonna take advice at pre op & then check out your recommendations
